You must have not seen very much about this phone .... it has knox basically allows you to sandbox apps for higher security ... but they put a e fuse in knox when you root it turns to 0x1 and as of right now there is no way of resetting the flag to 0x0 and some things in knox will not work with root etc ....

In theory, would this be able to be removed or changed back to 0x0?
That's the only thing turning me off of rooting. Would disabling this knox thing keep it from flagging it?
Not yet and maybe never ....its only the loss of warranty ...

Well The SG Note 3 is a loot more intresting now
Easiest phone I have ever rooted. As usual your videos are very detailed and well explained. Looking forward to more videos! Also the N3 is a hell of a phone, I don't understand all of the hate for this phone.

Well, that was painless.
I was slightly apprehensive about the KNOX binary counter, decided that I would risk it, I don't want any of Sprint/Samsung bloatware anyway.
Now I'm waiting for a deodexed stock ROM, maybe even something with the bloat pre-cut.
Came to the Note 3 from the Epic 4G, quite a huge difference. Very satisfied at this time. Thanks for all your hard work!

This worked great! Thanks a lot.. But just wondering, do I need to wipe everything before rooting? Cuz I didn't, and I noticed some bugs every since I rooted.

I cant find a clear answer to this... if I have a new note3 all stock, but setup the way I want and I root will it factory reset everything?
Or - does it just root the phone, leave everything else untouched?
Thanks!
it just roots if you do it proper qbking77 has a guide on youtube check it out
Thanks for the video & links. I did this on my new Note last night and it was painless.
For anyone else whose first step after rooting is getting Titanium Backup apps restored, you may run into problems with those apps force-closing after restore. This is a known issue, and the fix lies in either of these links:

New to Note 3 and "ROOT" Need Advice, Help
Hey Guys,
This is my first "Android" Phablet (Note 3) SM-N9005. Had iPhones for last 3 years. Time for a change and time for a root
Ive Read all about the rooting process regarding the "Root de la Vega" so i don't trip the KNOX claymore
I've downloaded my AP, CSC files, de la Vega Odin v3.09 and the ADB Fastboot.zip (all from XDA latest Sources)
Few questions i have regarding the process before i get started:
- Do i need the INSTALLER. and SAMSUNG USB drivers 1.5.27.0 for the De la Vega root?
- people were talking about flashing some sort of backup will trip KNOX. is titanium backup going to trip KNOX after i root?
- What is this SUPERSu app/program? Do i get it before root or after root? do i need it?
- After i Root it. What is the best recommended ROM/Kernel to flash?
thank you sir!

Check my post here and just follow the info and it should give you the custom recovery and use one of those custom recoveries and flash with odin which will require the tar file then, but remember once you are done flashing one of the custom recoveries YOU MUST reboot immediately back into the custom recovery otherwise the phone will re-install the stock recovery, you just have to do this once..then just put the SU zip file i have at the bottom of that post and put it onto your internal sdcard or external sdcard and flash it with the recovery.
Then boot up the phone and go to the SU app and open it and if your phone has the knox crap in it, then it will ask if you want to disable knox and choose yes, and if your phone does not have knox in it them you are done and should have the custom recovery installed and be rooted as i have the i527m model of the mega and i have a custom recovery and is rooted and it all works great.
Note: Also install Busybox (Stericson) which you can get from the google play store as you might need this installed also. :good:
I used saferoot for the s4 and I was rooted in minutes..... I can send it to you if need be

Can you please tell me more about this?
I have stock Mega 6.3" (SGH-I527M) that hasn't been rooted or anything (pretty brand new) and runs Android 4.4.2. Does this Saferoot work for me? I don't want to risk it or trigger Knox.
Also, this person explains a simple way for rooting here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSR6IupxsbM
It is for MetroPC. Can someone with custom recovery download the following rooting method and tell us if it works: http://www.mgyun.com/m/ <- I tried it. Doesn't work!
My first mega (probably the first batch release) had an older boot loader without knox. Some of us early mega buyers are lucky not to be cursed with knox boot loader but Unfortunately, all newer megas and new samsung devices have knox bootloader, which makes rooting basically impossible without tripping the warranty bit kernel to 0x1. Not only does that scrap your warranty, but it makes the stock rom inoperable, disabling wifi, gallery, and external sd.
I call out to all advanced developers to please create a method to root newer megas without tripping the knox boot loader. Many other devices found a way, such as the galaxy tab, note 3, and galaxy mini. The process involves taking a stock rom, deleting the boot loader files in it, rehashing, then flashing via odin. Flashing via odin with anything seems to trip knox though, that is the major risk.
So how about it? Is there a way? We must fight back! WE paid for these devices, WE have the right to root! If i wanted a restricted phone, I would have stayed with Apple!

Do you even know what knox boot loader is? What method did you use to root? flashing a recovery such a twrp or philz touch 6? that trips knox. Did you then flash superuser.zip via twrp or cwm recovery? that also trips knox.

I posted a thread a few months ago about the earliest methods of rooting the mega causing the knox to trip.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699338
I researched, and it's true that knox will knock out wifi and some other features if you attempt to root or screw with the boot loader. The only known fix was to install a custom rom which i did, selish's cm11 kitkat, which is my favoured rom.
I tried everything to restore the stock rom. I tried flashing the stock rom, full wipe, everything. Nothing re-enabled those features.
So are you telling me, that there is a method to root the newer boot loaders without tripping the warranty bit kernel? or does it trip, yet functions still work with your kingo and twrp method?
