Software Upgrade Assistant fails
SUA acts like it knows my phone is connected, even says searching for updates, but never lists my G2 in the window of devices. Drivers are current and using LG cable to a main USB port.
Does LG post changelogs or would this come from Verizon?
I would think VZW since they are the one changing LG's software.

Most idiot-proof way to upgrade atm is using the Verizon upgrade utility that is included with the phone. Just hook it up to your pc, follow the autorun prompt, and then proceed to download it and it should install the update automatically.
Dumb question probably... Do I need to do something first if coming from malladus rom like revert to stock?
Thanks

I believe so. You may have to kill root as well if you're using the upgrade assistant method.

Hey JPC, are you gonna upgrade the cm11 tonight with the OTA out now?

as a proud new owner of a optimus l9 (purchased through vodacom) I thought that I had made the most economically viable decision in picking the L9 over the plethora of other options available. the scheduled jellybean update and the handset's good specs are what really sealed the deal for me and I'm disappointed in the fact that I still haven't the scheduled jelly bean update whatsoever... the official kdz file for the south African firmware has been posted on: lg-phone-firmware com. I'm truly getting frustrated by not having the latest software whereas I know it's out there and many are already using it... was unable to flash it using the offline method.. been trying that route for the past 3 weeks to no avail so the official OTA is my last chance at getting the update... has anyone in the region received the update as well?
Trust me you dont want it...

what makes you say such? I'm sure the smoothness brought by project butter is beneficial on a day to day basis.. overall jb should be a much better experience than ICS or is there something I don't know?

Trust me, i'm from south america and the update didn't get here yet but i flashed a kvz from Telcel, Mexico which has JB and the phone is a complete different one. I hated it on ICS, love it on JB due to its smoothness and better response to touch.
Have you tried watching some video tutorials? I had tons of problems trying by my own but then followed a spanish one and boom, problem solved.

after numerous attempts at completing the offline kdz flasher I still haven't succeeded. thus is the reason for me trying to find our whether others have received the update on my region because if they have I may as well wait for it to terrible down to my device... if not I'll seek out the assistance of someone with another PC Cuz the offline kdz flasher method won't work on my laptop...

I received the OTA notification... I've even installed the update and can confirm that I am running jellybean.. it's way another overall... battery life seems to have actually improved despite what others have reported...
I dont know if it will work for you but when i wanted to go back to fully stock using the official online flash tool, i used recovery phone option and it gave me jelly bean v20a instead of v10b which is what my phone shipped with. Its not a great method as it will probably hard reset and you would lose data.

Yes...it doesn't patch root. If you are rooted and do not have a custom recovery installed. You can accept the update and it does nothing. If you have TWRP installed, you need to flash the stock recovery, accept the update and then flash back to TWRP after.

Anyone else update their stock rooted lolipop rom?
I am debating using autorec to put back the stock recovery and running the OTA update but worried I will lose root and unsure if the tools currently available will root the phone again.
I could make a backup with TWRP, but if I can't re root I wont be able to get back to it to recover my backup.
Thoughts?

I've never used Autrec, and maybe I'm missing something, but I can't for the life of me figure out how it works. I've tried tapping on the lollipop that says "Restore stock" but it doesn't seem like it's doing anything. When I click on the other one to "Flash TWRP," it seems to work just fine. Is there some secret to it?

Yes, I'm using this one from the Play Store. And yes, I'm rooted. I already have TWRP installed and I'm just trying to restore the stock recovery to flash this update. Then I'll reinstall TWRP and root.
Edit: I think I finally figured it out. I guess it just requires some patience. I think I've been tapping on it, and when it doesn't seem to do anything, I tap again. And again. But it looks like it just takes a minute to respond and tapping again interrupts it.
It says that it restored the stock recovery now, so I'll try flashing this update. Wish me luck!
Edit 2: It still isn't working for me. Autorec says that it has restored stock partitions, but I still get TWRP when I go into recovery.
I am uprooted..
You should do a factory reset. Clear cache and dalvik. And then return to stock..
I recommend don't OTA on a rooted phone.

This is the new thread for waiting for root for Android 6.0.
Currently we have 5.1.1 rooted and people are just waiting for them to release root again for us.
If anyone is creating early bounty's for this than you can let me know and I will add them to the top of the thread.
I'll put up $20 for MM root.
I'll put up $5, it's all I can really spare.
i really wasnt looking for root on 5.1, i think verizon had to hurry up and put Marshmallow out because of root
I'll pledge $20. Gave up root for mm and regretted it rather quickly.

If @tungkick or someone cracks the bootloader for 11b, or does something like done on the G3 with the bump method, we should then bee able to get twrp flashed and custom roms flashed so we won't have to worry about cracking vzw's 22a at all. We could then flash any rom we'd want, including marshmallow roms. Am I right in this thought process? And those that are on 22a would just have to downgrade to 11b using lgup refurbish mode.

I pledge $25 for bootloader bump with that we can flash a modified version of marshmallow. But will take root on MM also so $20 on that also. Count me in.
To my knowledge, a Verizon sim is needed to get OTA updates from this phone, which I do not have. Was wondering if anyone can possible grab a KDZ, possibly through the LG Upgrade Assistant or by their phone?
As of now we can only use the OTA method, which if you are rooted, requires you to hard flash the stock kdz over and wait at least 2 hours or more for the backend of the phone to update. The VS99022A kdz still hasn't been found yet, sorry.
Maybe through the Verizon software assistant but I haven't tried
