I have tried a couple KitKat Roms (the latest being SlimKat back in March). Both ROMs had severe lag (Although SlimKat was a bit better) on bringing up the phone answer screen when a call comes in. I have been following the CM11 and SlimKat posts in the development section, but haven't been able to discern if this problem has been solved. I get the impress that it has been solved on the i9000, but so far have not seen any indication of a fix for Vibrants. Anyone know if the lag still exists. This is the one think keeping me on Jellybean.
I just tried Resurrection Remix® 4.4.2 KitKat v5.1.0 and it appears that at least in this ROM the phone answer lag is gone. I did not have any issues with the answer screen coming up too slowly.

The in call delay is present in all kitkat roms, some have high delay while others are not or barely noticeable. AFIAK Its due to the hardware.

Hi guys,
I am currently on AOKP ICS M6 and really like the stability of it. With JB 4.1.2 out, would you guys reckon that it will be stable enough for use as a daily driver?? My Nexus device runs well with JB 4.1.2 and I kinda like the fluidity and added functions of it. Will hope that I can replicate that in my SGS2.
Which build will be a good place to start if I am most concerned about stability and battery life?? CM10 nightlies? Kinda disappointed that CM has dropped supported for SGS2 and I am wondering if this affects the quality of the nightlies.
CM10 is pretty stable, for sure you can use it as daily driver.

played around with various JBs. I find that they are quite stable apart from the occasional FCs.
However, this one bug really irritates me and will be the deal breaker for JB: >>> Half Volume Bug!!!
Can I confirm that this bug is common across all versions of JB, be it AOKP/CM??

Maybe its just me, but I'm on Paranoid Android 2.5 and theres no volume issues whatsoever. First time I took a call after flashing this rom almost popped me eardrums out. Worth a try if that's what is stopping you from going JB 4.1.2 . No FCs so far either.
I often run piers unofficial aokp and sometimes official builds and I haven't experienced that bug. Not even once.
Oh and I'm obiesly talking about jb.

Hi I'm new to the nexus 10 and I was wondering if anyone knows of a ROM without any major bugs?
I use it for school so I don't really have time to play around is official cm 10.1 as stable as stock? Or is stock the most stable?
Thanks

Stock is always the most stable. None the less my n10 with cm10.1 nightlies runs rock solid. No bugs or reboots. Can only suggest you try it.
Gesendet von meinem HTC One X mit Tapatalk 2
I want to second the cm 10.1 opinion. I ran SentinelROM (based on cm 10.1) for a long time and it was almost perfect. I have since switched to the official cm10.1 nightlies because of bluetooth issues on Sentinel and I am happy to say it is working very well.
Moreover I have found cm10.1 ROMs are the only ones giving a smooth UI performance. On my tablet AOSP ROMs always seem a bit jerky and seem to work with a lower framerate. Hard to put a finger on it but it may be the different Mali drivers but that is just a guess.
There are a ton of ROMs with no bugs, although all the major ones have had a few bugs lately in the last couple builds. Now that the issue has been found out, all the major builds should be stable once again.
Rasbean is built from AOSP source the same as the stock ROM
SaberMod is also built from stock source but with a more unique toolchain
AOKP is built off the AOKP source, there are many variants from official all the way to PUB. Mr.Robinson and Apophis are the most popular
Sentinel is one of the more popular CM10.1 builds
I personally have liked RasSaber the best, which is RasBean with the SaberMod toolchain and optimizations. The ROM is no longer available though.

CM10 or Carbon are good bets, but they will never really be as stable as stock. If you don't have time to mess around and you use your device for school regularly, then using a ROM might not be a good option for you at all, truth be told.

No reboots? Really? How did you manage that one.... It's at least 10 reboots per hour on mine. I can sit there and enjoy the boot logo over and over again while it reboots itself without me even touching the damn thing.

10 reboots an hour!?! I might get one a day, this is on stock ROM/ktmanta kernel, rooted and overclocked to 2.1ghz/720mhz. I don't often play games though, mainly browsing and reddit.
CM is in my experience about as buggy as stock or better. It's certainly more stable, at least. I've been getting less reboots since I moved to CM, to the point that I hardly care anymore about the issue.
If you don't care about tablet ui, I recommend sabermod. Pretty fast and stable-

the most stable from my experience was a cm9 ics based rom as its most compatible with the device...most roms 4.1 based and higher have reboot issues because of a deep sleep issue caused by the default setting of the min frequency being too low under performance settings...but if you want everything to work including bluetooth and not have sense cm9 would be your best choice...4.3 based roms still have many bugs such as mms not working after first reboot and camcorder keeps force closing..4.1 and up still has a few bluetooth based bugs and your reboots...the reboots still happen on 4.3 based roms like pac until you change it to proper settings

The AOSP ROM I used for a while was PAC but it started rebooting a lot because it overheated while charging. CM9 was stable for me and CM10 is almost stable.

Even the latest version of cm9 (back in 05/28/13) has bluetooth problems. Is there really no aosp or kang that is 100% functional? Weather it be 4.0, 4.2, 4.3? Came close with Liquid Smooth but still having soft reboots.
Consider Talon v1.0, because either nobody is using it (unlikely with over 3000 views), or people are using it and brenuga just built it right and it works... and my money is on the later. Seems extremely stable, feature rich, and bug-free, it is what I am going with for my work phone.
My ROM of choice is CM10.1.3. I have zero issues with it. CM9 would be my next choice.

Although I would go CarbonRom (4.3 based) or Talon (4.2 based) for stability and performance.
about 2 week ago my beloved p4wifi screen started flickering. It went away for a couple days but now it's here to stay
Here is a video - htt p: //w w w.you tube.com/watch?v =6oJ 4Va tfHSo
sorry for having to break it up....XDA says I need more than 10 posts to link from the webs
I've updated the rom to CM 10.1 just to see if it was related to the old cm 9 it was running. no luck
So is this hardware? Am I SOL? Is it repairable for less than it's worth?
It happens on every AOSP ROM for us, be it cm9, cm10, cm10.1, cm10.2 or aokp and so on. However, on cm10.1 or newer ROMs, the flickering has been reduced.

In carbon it stopped completely. Even when I was running PAC Infamous, I never experienced it again. On AAcount 10.2 I experienced it just a little before he fixed it. On SGT7 4.3 which I am running at the moment, there is no flicker at all. As a matter of fact I had forgotten that the tab started flickering with the advent of Jelly Bean!

I flashed carbon and same results. It might be the end of the road for this tab. Anything else I can try?
I've also noticed that the touch screen is becoming less responsive and takes me multiple times tapping the screen.

This is out of left field...but if I was you I would switch recoveries..I know they are separate from the kernel on this device but I've read in other forums about this issue being tied to a recovery issue..
Also, have you tried to update you're boot loader to the ICS one pershoot put out..
Just a couple thoughts..
I really love testing new ROMs, but I always find myself going back to stock. What drives me crazy is when someone says "This Works Great!!!! But...", and then they list serious feature issues that people use everyday. Wouldn't that mean the ROM doesn't work so great? Maybe it's working for you but 30 other people list problems. I have an xt912 CDMA and I have yet to install a ROM that doesn't have some form of issues... even final and released builds.
I applaud the programmers and people who spend their free time doing this and making these awesome ROMs, but hopefully some day... there will be no bugs.
What are your thoughts?

I would recommend checking out some builds based on Jelly bean 4.2 or lower. These tend to be much more stable for me. Sadly many of the developers who had done such wonderful work for our device have moved onto newer devices to develop for. Obviously that makes sense for them but it makes it tough to deliver pristine ROMS for us. It's also up to the user. If you can sacrifice a little bit of stability for more customization, custom ROMS are probably for you. If not you may want to stick with your stock ROM and try to google "Xposed Framework" and give that a try. Best of luck!

Yes, I agree completely. The biggest problems are when data or wifi doesn't work that well. Pretty much a deal breaker. Problem for me is, on stock, there's a bug that makes my phone frequently think there is an HDMI plugged in when there's not, so it forces the phone to change orientation. So incredibly annoying. customs roms don't have these problems though. And slimbean worked well for me once, I just hope slimkat gets to be more stable. Right now there is a problem with the wifi, and the battery life is pretty bad. sigh...

If you want a ROM with very few issues, try Aviator Blur 3.0.9. It is 4.1.2 but it has overcocking and is very smooth. It is based off the original stock rom. It has no signal or other major issues. The new CM11 shows promise, but like you said, it still has a few bugs.
Theres always issues
there is always an issue with all roms you cant expect them to fix everything not even stock android is perfect every OS has its faults some more than other thats all.
