A few questions about getting this phone unlocked - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

First off I am on my dads cell phone plan and am not paying anything a month for it so I dont want to switch to t mobile but the att version has a locked bootloader so here I am. So for my first question, how hard is it to unlock one of these phones? Then once its unlocked, will it get worse service then the att version? Can this unlocked phone tether like the way a stock t mobile one can? Is there any other down side to getting an unlocked phone vs stock att other then the unlocked would have tmobile on it instead of att and root access right way. thanks for any help and if I posted this in the wrong thread, im sorry.

Using a ATnT Galaxy Note on T Mobil, possible?

I posted this in the international version of the phone, they suggested I ask here.
Someone said all I need to do is just unlock the imei, is this true?
Yes. All you need to do is unlock it and if you want the "4g" speeds you will have to flash a custom T-Mobile radio.

If you wish to use your phone on another network or overseas I believe you have to unlock your phone (IMEI). But in order to use it on T-Mobile you would have to flash one of the T-Mobile Modems to allow you to get data. With that being said you would have to root your phone, flash clockwork recovery mod on to the phone, and flash a new TMO radio. You will have to do the research, but I believe you would need to flash a custom rom as well. I hope this helps.
Cool! I kinda figured I needed to do all that, I've done it on my Amaze, should be simple. I didn't know about the radio though. I assume I can find them here in the Development Section right?
I read that I have to pay to get the EMEI unlock, there is no other way, correct?
Well, I called up TMO and they walked me through it for free. Just ask for the PUK code and how to enter it. The radios are at the top of one of the notes threads, can't remember.

T-Mobile just gave you ATT's unlock code and told you how to unlock it????
Also, just getting it unlocked allows you to use phone and data on t-mo, but you will only get edge speeds.
If you want the hspa speeds, then root and install clockwork mod, and flash the correct radio for GB. No need to flash new rom.
I was just wondering the same thing how did T-Mobile get AT&T unlock codes.

unlocked sim, same process for flashing roms?

I just picked up a 'mint' atrix 4g today, thing looks like it is brand new!
Anyways, it came with a unlocked sim. Just curious if I can use the same process for unlocking the BL, flashing recovery, and flashing roms as a normal "locked" atrix?
I had a atrix 4g before (it was beat up lol, it got stolen..) And I had unlocked hte BL and flashed recovery and a rom..
I just don't want to risk bricking this thing if a unlocked sim makes it different, and I also don't want to have service issues, I'm using straight talk in Kansas city, it says "AT&T" in my status>Network, so I think its on AT&T towers
SIM unlock makes no difference at all.
Also, questions always go to Q&A, never to General.

[Q] ATT One M8 on Wind Mobile (Canada) ? Please help :/

Hey guys,
I bought a locked ATT and I did S-Off and unlocked bootloader to put the international developer edition ROM on it so I can get OTAs directly from HTC. That is fine and works completely well. I get updates directly from HTC. But I am in Canada now using Wind Mobile (same as T-mo in the US) but I'm "roaming" the whole time.
I tried using this unlock method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708567
and still it doesn't work. Its just on Wind Away network.
So I bought an unlock code and but I put in my wind mobile sim card, no menu comes up so that I can put in my unlock code...
Wind Mobile uses the same feq as Tmobile (I tried it with an S3 last year) so I should at least be able to make calls and texts.
'
PLEASE help! I'd greatly appreciated!!!!

I can't really answer this correctly but I do have a question and or recommendation. Normally (or normally to my knowledge) when you power the phone up with a non factory carrier SIM it requests that you put in an unlock code in a method similar to have a PIN code lock screen and you have to input the code you bought from the site( on the lockscreen PIN area ). Does this not happen when you do it?
htc m8 with wind mobile.
Hi everyone. Pls I need help asap. I just got an unlocked HTC m8. I use wind mobile. But I keep getting wind away on my device. What can I do to fix this.

Just a guess, but you may need to s-off and flash the T-Mob radio to enable the AWS band.

Sim unlock

Has anyone found a reliable way to sim unlock the sprint version of this phone yet? I been looking into the threads on XDA and google, doesn't seem like theres a way yet?
Also does anyone know if i'd be able to use this phone on gsm carriers in canada after unlocking?
Thanks for future replies!!
http://www.htcunlockingservice.com/htc-phone-unlock-network/CDMA-EVDO-REV-A--USA--htc-one-m9.htm.htm i found this site for cdma devices, has anyone tried this site b4?
So far none of the methods used for m7 and m8 work. Trying to gather info and see. Any old hand willing to lend some help?
I'm confused, I thought this was a global phone and thus I would be able to pop in a sim from another country and have it work automatically? Either that or be able to get an unlock code directly from sprint. Was I wrong by assuming this? : I'm going out of country in two weeks and more than likely am screwed if this is the case D:
Im not sure but I think this may work

Just tell me every details you get
Even if you did find a way to simunlock it it wouldn't do you much good as the Sprint M9 lacks the radio frequencies required to work on most other domestic carriers:
http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/...rock-out-with-their-flagships-for-the-season/
Second, the One M9 was not tested, thus is not authorized for domestic GSM/W-CDMA bands. Rabid phone unlockers under the new Sprint domestic unlocking policy, consider yourselves forewarned.

I bought an HTC One M9 that was supposed to be unbranded and unlocked and turned out to be a Sprint locked phone.
The guy who sold it to me was able to get the unlock codes.. but I am outside the US and trying to unlock the phone requests an update (i assume from the carrier).
But as I am outside of the US i have no link to the carrier..
Is there anyway to force the sim unlock so i can enter the code?
When I put in the sim, it says SIMLock enabled contact customer service.
Sim Unlock Sprint HTC One M9 outside the US?!
Trying to sim unlock the Sprint HTC One M9 variant. I've managed to unlock the bootloader and root the device but now I'm stuck with the next step. I live outside the US so Sprint cant help me and the phone hasn't been activated on Sprint. I was hoping i could sim unlock this the same way I did with my M7 but no luck? Help anyone?
Okay, I have a question. I have a Sprint HTC One M9, and I want to go to the T-Mobile store tomorrow and get a T-Mobile SIM for it. I'm not allowed to post a link to the page I'm referencing (under 10 posts), but according to Sprint's page "FAQs about Unlocking Your Sprint Device":
Under the second bold question, where it says "Will Sprint notify me when my device is eligible to be unlocked/has been unlocked?": It says all DSU-capable devices are automatically unlocked. This means that I should be able to go to T-Mobile tomorrow and get the SIM card and just put it in the phone for it to work, correct?
Sorry for the noob question. Definitely appreciate any help.

Nope it's still going to be locked. I bought my phone outright from HTC and spent hours trying to call Sprint (both regular and international support) and get it domestically unlocked, and all they give me is the run around and my MSL. They keep saying the new provider can use the MSL to reprogram the phone to make it work, which I believe is what happens when you flash to a prepaid CDMA carrier, not for GSM.
I kept arguing (with the call center manager) and went over the terms on the Sprint website to no avail. They'll unlock the SIM for international use no problem, but domestically, they will say it's impossible.
I've only heard of 1 other person from the Sprint forums getting the DSU unlock on the M9 and it was a pain for him as well. I pretty much gave up. Not worth the hassle. If you get yours domestically unlocked, please let me know and I may try again.

Cphoneunlcoker.Com! got my phone unlocked for free. Glad I didn't have to pay moneyfor it.
what phone? or is this just spam?

as I know this is international unlock. so when you will arrive to your country you will need just local sim card and it will work well if the phone was unlocked correctly before

SM-G925T unlocked, Flash to AT&T??

Hello I recieved this phone from a friend which had told me the phone was carrier unlocked.
I am currently a AT&T customer.
I went to the AT&T Store locally and had the woman get me a new SIM card and activate it.
My internet did not work so I told the woman I can figure it out and left the store.
I then edited my APN settings to "phone" and all the proper settings that are posted for the Galaxy S6 Edge AT&T
I now have horrible service. Just like T-Mobile does in my entire area that is why no one bothers to use it unless you live in town even then it wont work inside your own house.
I feel like all the information is somewhere in this forum but I have spent quite a bit of time searching around to only find small pieces of answers.
Questions:
What Bands does the tmobile version run on?
Is this phone fully compatible with AT&T LTE? If not what speeds am I limited to?
Should I be running a different bootloader?
I'm currently on 6.0.1 Android stock tmobile. Can I flash to a debloated firmware without tripping knox? Which ones? Are there features I may loose?
Should I downgrade to stock 5.11 tmobile first then root then flash to debloat?
What is the safest and best way to root the phone?
Should I care about Knox if I have no warranty and dont plan on sending it in ever because of this?
Thank you in advance everyone I appreciate the help.
Please help
