[Q] How to change the OS of a cheap no name tablet? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a cheap no name tablet with the following configuration:
1. Cortex A8 1.20GHz single core
2. 512MB DDR3 ram
3. 4GB memory
4. Android 4.2.2
5. 7"
Is there a way to change the OS with a faster smoother one? It doesn't matter if it's older than the current one, i just want to be faster and smoother because with the current one (4.2.2) the tablet simply lags horrible, it's unusable. Also it doesn't matter if it's official or custom, i need something to make this crap work faster or i'll throw it on the window.

[Q] How can I upgrade my generic tablet (brand Lenco)?

Dear Xda-team
First of all, let me congratulate you for the excellent job you do.
It’s a wonder to the eyes to see the degree of professionalism behind the visible side of this site.
I hope you can help me with my issue, having in mind my experience that I don’t have any experience yet installing new android firmwares.
I have a Lenco Tab-720 with the following carateristics:
• Android 4.1
• 8gb internal memory
• 512 MB Ram and 1.2GHZ cpu
and when I connect it to my computer, it says Alcatel Android ADB Interface, somewhere inside the driver details.
The tablet itself is nice in size and the screen is good, but it’s awfully slow, even if I have only facebook, a game or two, some Banking apps and outlook app.
My issue is that I can't find no tutorials or how to that explain to me how can I simply change my sluggish android 4.1 to something more fast.
One good thing about this tablet, is that comes with the following option
“Save and Reboot” ----System Upgrade ----Recovery mode – Reboot into the system in Recovery Mode. Can clear the data or system upgrade.
From what I understood when reading other threads, is that that will allow me to skip a custom recovery mod, correct?
Therefore, could you please explain me which are the necessary steps in order to make this tablet run smoother, while improving the overall software experience?
I honestly don't know if the tablet will handle Android 5.0 , but maybe with kitkat it will be tasty enough.
Thank you so much for your time.:good:
Best regards

Dear members
I contacted Lenco support team and they send me a firmware file:
A13_86VS_M758CHD_1303086.20130329
But , when I open PhoenixSuit 1.08, it says:
Firmware version = v1.2_13011 A13_86VSH_M758CHD.20130329
Android version = 4.1.1
The A13 that I see above has anything to do with other A13 tablets?
If yes, how can I root and upgrade my tablet?
Thanks

[Q] Custom ROM, how to change the ram size value?

I have a tablet with these specs:
Rk3168 dual core arm A9 cpu, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, 7" 1024x600 display, wifi rtl8188etv
I managed to mess it up and I can't get my hands on the stock ROM.It has no volume buttons either so couldn't recover it.
I found a few working custom ROMs for it but none of them match my device perfectly.
Some of them don't have the wifi drivers I need and a couple I found with the correct driver don't have the correct RAM/ROM size.
From my understanding I have to work on the kernel files to either change wifi drivers or ram/rom ones however I can't find a guide on the later. I only found a guide on the wifi.
Can anyone tell me how I can change the ram/rom files?
Or is anyone aware of a fitting custom rom I could use?

Getac T800 Tablet - Switch From Win 10 OS to Android

Hi there,
So I am experienced in rooting and flashing / rooting phones (originally did this with the Samsung fascinate and B&N NookHD). The company I work for recently bought several Getac T800 tablets. These tablets come with Win10 preloaded. For the work I want our field staff to do, there are several apps that are way better, but run on Android. I am hoping that I will be able to load Android onto these machines (I do not want to do a dual boot situation - The staff using them are not tech savvy).
Specs for the machine can be found here: http://us.getac.com/tablets/t800/specs.html
Intel® Atom Processor x7-Z8750 1.6GHz (up to 2.56GHz); 2MB Cache
8GB LPDDR3
128 GB EMMC
This company makes a similar machine that runs android
Specs for ZX70: http://us.getac.com/tablets/zx70/specs.html
Intel® Atom™ x5-Z8350 Processor 1.44GHz, burst up to 1.92 GHz 2MB Cache
2GB LPDDR3 expandable to 4GB
32GB eMMc
I can download the BIOS and the android 6.0 ISO (for the ZX70) from the company here: http://us.getac.com/support/drivers.html (type in ZX70 and submit)
My question is could I use this image on our T800s and what would be the steps to load the image onto the machine? Are there any pitfalls / drawbacks?
Hi, I know this post is years old, but I'm trying to do the same thing. Did anyone reply to you, or did you figure it out? I want to try to install their Getac android image on one of their windows tablets.
I have successfully installed a different android OS on it, but I can't install the Getac OEMConfig app on the current android OS. I believe it is because it isn't showing up as a Getac device or the android OS version is too new. I would love to find this app, but I can't find an APK for it anywhere, either.

Ram upgrade allwinner cpu

Hi guys,
The story goes like this: i have an old chinese navigation unit that has an allwinner cpu T3 with external Ram of 1Gb. I found an 4Gb ic on a PX5 Rockchip board and decided to do the swap. All went well, the device boots up normally but only sees 1Gb of Ram. Question is where is the ammont of Ram written in the OS or how do I make the OS see the newly installed Ram? The device is running Android 6 or so i think( api 23) but it reports android 7.1 in about screen. I managed to get it rooted. I know it is weird to waste my time on such an old device but since i'm in quarantine there's nothing better to do.
sounds like a kernel issue to me
