What size rom slots do you guys create? Including cache and everything else.

I read on one of these forums. 1GB for testing, 2 GB for extensive testing, and 3 GB for daily use. Those are all data partitions. The default on system and cache have worked good for me. I recently made my daily ROM slot a 3 GB and noticed it was slightly smoother.

I bump up the system partition to 1GB and use default sizes for data and cache (2GB and 700MB, respectively, I think). I increase the system partition so I can use the Paranoid Android stock or full modular GApps.

[Q] Resizing Partitions

After installing XRON vb2.6 on my sister's Touchpad, I noticed 2GB was for the main, and the rest (approx 9gb) allocated to the SD Card (shared between WebOS)...
Is there a way to make the 2GB CM partition larger, as I believe some issues will arise if too many apps are installed (due to Davik cache being on same partition). I had this problem in the past with my Samsung Epic and found it was a royal pain in the arse once a lot of applications are installed, and the Davik cache precaching most resources on that system partition....
Is the Davik cache actually stored on same system partitions? Perhaps my concern is not necessary, however if it is, I want to resize at least to 4GB to be on the safe side.

Dalvik is moved to cache at boot. You shouldn't run in to that issue

[Q] Copious Amounts of storage being used for no reason

Hey all,
So lately I noticed I have only a few gigabytes left out of the 11 or so available, when I only have maybe 2-3 gigabytes of stuff, nandroids included, and maybe a half a gig or so for apps.
In terms of flashing I went from stock to cm, cm to PAC, updated PAC once, PAC to NOS m7. I've restored backups 3 or 4 times.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Are you moving or copying your SD card data back and forth? If not moving then you have stuff in both locations.

I did not copy, or move. When switching roms I would factory reset, wipe cache, format system and cache, wipe dalvik and then flash. Should I have wiped data/media?

Then that's where your space went. You have basically 2 SD cards in use between sense and 4.2 ROMs. Look in /data/media for your sense stuff then emulated/0 for the 4.2 created stuff. Or if you want just format data and it'll wipe out the SD card if nothing worth keeping is there.

Ohh okay, I had a hunch that was the case. I'm still getting a handle on the new fike organization between 4.1 to 4.2
Thanks a lot!

[Q] Not enough space for ROM slot 1. Safe Strap.

Trying to install a ROM for the first time and I'm using Safe Strap. I try to install a ROM on slot 1 or any other ROM slot for that matter and it says I don't have enough space for my Data partition. How can I make more space? I tried wiping the internal storage using Safe Strap but it gives me an error. Any suggestions?

Try to use clean master to clean app and system cache, and put some big data app in the ext-sd,it's an intuitive app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard
for a rom you need at least 2 gb
Some rom will boot only in rom slot 1 with safe strap,(all cyanogen mod "CM 10..1" for exemple) read the developer info

I am having this same issue. I deleted a ton of apps and ran the cleaner and it is still showing that I am short on space. What else can I do? Getting very aggravated.

before flashing a rom, i made factory reset.
Did u try factory reset/wipe?
Yes, if you have a ton if pics, music, downloads, etc on your internal memory transfer it to micro sd. Stated above "For a rom you need at least 2 gigabytes" is mis leading,(if not referring to total partition size) as you are givn a choice of 1, 2 or 3 gig space. I have never used anything over 1gig, and never ran out if space/memory. Factory reset does not clean your phones storage.. I suggest manually deleting/ formatting for best results to get your space/memory back.

so I just tried Safestrap on my S4, says I have 12MB of space left. I just wiped my entire phone, and it's still at 12MB of space, before and after the wipe, am I missing something?
EDIT: I installed the ATT version of it by mistake, genius me
Same Problem here
I am having the same problem. I have deleted most apps. Deleted all pics & music, still not enough space to flash ROM. I am on XT912 RAZR Rooted.
have a look at this link
I had a similar problem until I found this link, I think I just used the top/first method as I had luckypatcher installed already.

hope it is a help to you
SafeStrap uses the space on your internal sdcard for creating slots.
Apart from the data, it creates two more partitions viz system and boot so the amount of free space required is (sizeOf) data + 900 MB.
So if you chose say 1GB for data, then you must have about 1.9 GB of free space on your internal sdcard.
Confirm before you try to create a slot.

No you can't change the stock system partitions.
This thread is for creating partitions on sdcard using a specific recovery. This is not universal.

ormusv1- stock kitkat 4.2.2 system partition

Hi, i'm just wondering why we don't repartition system partition etc. instead of trimming note 2 rom to fit our system partition. I've edited my partitions yesterday and have 1.5 gb on system, 4gb on data. That way we could have everything from that rom.
best regards

System Partition Help

Currently my RAZR has 2 slots used. Stock and Slot-1 with CM11. I want to install CM12 but do not want to get rid of CM11 just yet.
My Stock slot has a spare 2GB of data space, since i never use that slot anymore. I want to remove 1GB so that i can make a Slot-2 partition for CM12. Is there a way or is there an app that will allow me shrink the Stock data partition size from 3GB to 2GB.

You can make a backup of slot1, then delete the data partition then recreate it to the size you want then restore your backup
