Hello guys, well today I updated my phone from android 1.6 to 2.1 via the SEUS. I tried to root my device but failed in vain. I tried out the z4 root 1.30 but that didn't work either. I am a bit agreeably using the flash method. Is there any workable alternative to get my cell rooted?i would prefer a single click approach.
Thanks
In a nut shell, no. You need to flash back to 504 firmware and start from there, as said on AF.
Flash and debrand with THIS, install THIS, then THIS, and you'll have an up to date, debranded and rooted X10.

To be frank I really have no idea about flash. I have heard that it is very risky. If something goes wrong then the device ends up getting bricked.

So long as you read the first post and browse the first few pages you'll be alright. X10 is pretty much unbrickable right now so get reading and give it a go.
Well okay, I will give it a shot. Will tell you about the progress. Thanks for the help:-D. Btw are you also there in phandroid?

my x10 flasher is getting downloaded. Before i start the process, i wanted to ask you whether by flashing will my xperia get rooted? because for custom xperia recovery to work they mention that they NEED a ROOTED device. also they need an app called the busy box.
what should i do?
Is there any video tut regarding the procedure? I downloaded all the things necessary for the procedure.

Well I have the x10i but in the tut its x10a. It won't make a difference right?

One more thing, in the video he just showed how to upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1 I guess thats the official update which he installed. I have mine already upgraded to the OFFICIAL 2.1 so is it necessary to follow the first step of reflash?

If you don't understand how to use search-button and if you are incapable to find a solution in this forum and if you don't understand the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754429, you are probably incapable to root your device.

OK. I'm also a noob, but I rooted my xperia s (with locked Bootloader) last week with this solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754429
If you read through the first post completly you will find the following phrase:
"Guide:
Before you root your device, your device must running Gingerbread. Flash it back to Gingerbread if your device are running Ice Cream Sandwich Open Run.dat and it will lead you through the process"
If you are on ICS you have to flash black to Gingerbread with Flashtool. Here the link to the Flashtool thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588586
And here the link to the xperia s firmware thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599303
There is no simple root-method at the moment, perhaps later, I don't know. Keep in mind: This is a new device and the development of a dedicated root-method keeps a lot of time. Please take a look at other threads and read through. Collect as much information as possible.

I had done that. When using the flashtool I had kept that option checked but when I did successfully (no errors messages in flashtool) flashed and downgraded to GB from ICS, I was not able to download any apps from play store. I was also unable to login into google chat. I was able to use my gmail app without any issues though. Is this normal?
I did xda and google search on this issue about not being able to login to google chat etc, almost 90% of them said that you have to remove your primary google account which is not possible to do unless you root or do a factory reset.
Hello,
I'm new to this forum and to rooting. I currently have a SE Neo (MT15i) with ICS 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.431 or something close). I have unlocked my bootloader, i have installed fastboot, flashmode whatever. I want to root my phone, which program should I use and how do I do it? I have no idea what kernel is, what roms are etc...? Can you please tell me what they are? Thanks!
Update: I went on several threads such as the guide in the Neo V Dev, it was old, I'm not sure if it would work on my version right now.
I also went on Doomlord's kit which was about rooting a .562.
EDIT: After so much researching, I found out that my device is just NEO not NEO V
How to root - sticky thread in general section
Kernel, rom and all other basic things are explained in various sticky threads in neo sections as well as in arc sections. Also you can google it a bit. After you read that and you still got questions, ask.
Take some free time to read all that.
Maybe you won't get fast answer but you will benefit on a long run

Hi Mate,
you can root .431 by below method:
Rooting ..431
1. Flash .431 firmware , ignore if you are already having.
2. copy rootxperia.zip and Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip to sd card
3. Fastboot recoveryneo.img
4. Flash the above 2 files
4. flash .431 kernel
search for the zip,img and kernel in this forum , you will get it.
i hope u know how to fast boot, else search in this forum.
thanks.

You can ether hotboot that kernel using fastboot.exe or you can even use flashtool to flash/hotboot kernels, just pick fastboot mode.

Tehnically it's same, both are superuser app, which you can update, once you boot up your phone, from the google play.

Hey, guys! I've just spent about 8 hours trying to research a way to extract the stock kernel in .IMG format from an ftf file. I thought it would be extremely easy to find this information, but here I am, with my eyes hurting and I'm still no closer to finding the answer.
Would anyone be kind enough to send me a link to the unmodified unmodified 290 stock kernel (img or zip)? I thought I could do it myself without bothering anybody here, but I've found all sorts of information, just not the one I'm looking for.
Thank you in advance!
