Excuse me,
I'm currently own a Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus (GT-S7580.
It has a dualcore 1,2GHz chip, 768MB RAM, Adreno 200 GPU with a 4inch screen, which is 480x800. The phone is loaded with Samsung's 4.2.2 official ROM (there is no custom ROM for the phone yet, anywhere)
I saw news about the Samsung Galaxy Ace Style, the one just got to the store 1 month ago. Its spec is the same as Trend Plus, same dualcore, same GPU, same screen size, except for the RAM. Ace Style's RAM is only 512MB. But, surprisingly, it runs on Samsung's 4.4 Android.
So, the question is, is it able to port that 4.4 from Ace Style to Trend Plus by any simple means?
+1
I'm and others also waiting for custom roms and the Cyanogenmod version of this Device.

Which one is the best for community support (ROMs, mods, etc) and manufacturer support (accessories, drivers, etc)?
A pure Google Phone (Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus) or a phone that sold very well (Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III)?
Is it safe to buy a Galaxy Nexus/Galaxy SII now (solid hardware, going to survive at least two more years of updates) or is it better to wait for the next Nexus/buy the Galaxy SIII?
Maybe wait for an Android with 2GB of RAM to get better Ubuntu for Android support?
I ask this because I'm concerned about always being able to use the latest Android version, even if Google or the manufacturer doesn't release updates anymore (like the Nexus One that was abandoned, but received updates from the community because of its openness).
I have a HTC Desire Z now, and this phone is amazing, except for the lack of enough RAM to run apps and the lack of manufacturer support for getting drivers for the last Android updates.
What I really need is the best combo: community support + commercial support.
I'd like a phone with physical QWERTY keyboard, but seeing the options... I guess I will have to give up on that.
Thanks is advance!
Your best bet is a nexus. Most phones that require OEM or carrier updates will die out long before the nexus as you can pull the updates OS source code and build it for your device even if Google stops supporting it.

A Nexus will always have more community support, although the very popular galaxy line has good support also.
Thanks for your answers!
Talking about hardware, is it better to wait for the next Nexus or the Galaxy Nexus is good enough to survive at least a couple more years without performance issues? Is Dual Core + 1GB RAM the standard for the next devices?
Also, the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Nexus have different processors and GPUs... which one is the best between them?
Galaxy Nexus:
CPU 1.2 GHz dual-core Texas Instrument OMAP4460 processor
GPU Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX540 GPU
Galaxy S II:
CPU 1.2 GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos 4210 processor
GPU ARM Mali-400 GPU
Is there any website that did benchmark tests between both processors and GPUs?
Thanks!
CyanogenMod 11 M5 is great, no doubt about that, performance is better, it's way cleaner and streamlined, less bloated and the latter...
It's been a few days probably, almost a week since I've been using CM11, it's somewhat stable, but after digging across the new features and whatnot, I came across one small hiccup.
Screen recording is VERY LAGGY.
For a phone that sports the following specs:
1.4GHz Quad Core Exynos 4412 Processor
1GB RAM
Mali-400MP4 GPU
and the rest which I'm too lazy to type...
I find it difficult to believe that the phone would be so laggy, close to an unusable state in screen-recording mode, I've tried other apps like screencast (am I right?) and REC. (one of the most popular kitkat recording apps) but all seems to have the same very laggy results.
I've used the ADB method (which I believe is the one also used by REC.) in kitkat which is really laggy as well.
Tried workarounds:
- Rebooting
- Setting minimum clock to 1.4GHz
Video showing how laggy the device is in screen recording mode:
I also saw another guy using an S3, but a different version (SH-i747)
The only main difference between the int'l version and his version is that the SH-i747 has 2GB of RAM, a (lower) dual core processor, and (not sure if better or not) Adreno 225 GPU
I really really really hope you guys could help with this prob, I don't really see why screen recording is so slow with a phone at this arsenal. Please do help, much appreciated
Device Info:
Device: Galaxy S3 int'l [GT-i9300]
ROM: CM11 M5
Kernel: Stock CM
Android Version: Kitkat 4.4.2
Hey,
Have you found solution ?
I think its laggy because the Galaxy S3 doesn't have this feature enable by default. Plus we're talking about an experimental feature here. Hopefully this mod can be updated to perform better.
Hi my frieSnd I write from Colombia , I think buying the Sansung Galaxy Neo Duos , tell me all about this phone.
Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 16GB

Is better the S3 neo than S3 International?
Has better performance S3 neo than S3· international?
Is better the processor the S3 neo than S3 international?
How is about the duration of the battery?
How is about the camera? Take good pictures of day and night?
Has lag the dialer?
It is fluid? it is very fast with Android 4,3?
How is the screen? is bright? what about the colors?
Thanks you.
Most of the changes in the neo compared to original I believe are under-the-hood changes. The neo is better in the sense that its CPU and GPU are newer, more powerful than the original and along with more RAM, you'd have a pretty powerful phone. The clock speed on the neo I think is actually 1.2ghz compared to the 1.4ghz on the original(shouldn't make too much of a difference). As far as I know the camera, screen and battery are all the same on both devices. Camera 8mp (don't think they changed the sensor), screen 720pHD super amoled on both and 2100mah battery on both too.
1. S3 neo is better spec wise.
2. Not sure I don't have a s3 neo but I guess performance "should" be better.
3. Processor is better - newer but has lower clock speed.
4.battery is good from what I've seen in reviews
5. Camera excellent during the day, okay at night
Jellybean is generally smooth, but better when you root and remove bloatware.
However, the s3 international has plenty more support on xda with many custom Roms/kernels than the neo does.

Hey guys, I'm planning to buy an S3 this summer.
It looks like a very nice phone with nice specs, especially that I can get it for 275 USD. There is hovewer something that bothers me: The latest android version is 4.3.
No wonders, it was released 2 years ago. So there are 2 alternatives which I was thinking about.
S3 (I9300)
CPU: Cortex A9 (quad 1.4)
GPU: Mali-400MP4
Memory: 1 GB
OS: 4.3
Price: 275 USD
S3 Neo
CPU: Cortex A7 (quad 1.4) - Newer CPU, but IDK if it's better or not
GPU: Adreno 305, AFAIK pretty much the same as the Mali-400MP4
Memory: 1.5 GB
OS: 4.4.2
Plus: Much newer
Price: 320 USD
No Corning Gorilla Glass?
S3 LTE (I9305)
CPU: Cortex A9 (quad 1.4)
GPU: Mali-400MP4
Memory: 2GB
OS: 4.4.2
Plus: LTE.
Price: 340 USD
Considering these, and that I'm on a pretty tight budget, is the S3 Neo worth the extra 50 USD for new OS and 0.5 GB memory?
If so, is the LTE version worth another 20 bucks for even more memory and LTE?
Which would you choose?
Thanks!:fingers-crossed:
4.4 adds nothing worth having, 4.3 is more compatible with existing apps. If you go for variants of the i9300 then be aware that there is little support for them, you'll be stuck with stock firmware.
Go for the standard. You'll get much much much more support here on xda and tbh there isn't any real huge improvements between them. No big performance changes. I have the standard and I can play top quality games fine with no lags, multitasking is awesome(thanks to some fine tweaks) and ui is blazingly smooth. So go for the standard in my opinion.

S3 NEO is the best by far. 4.4.2 stock, super fast, good battery and zero lag.
Trust me they are totally different devices, S3 Neo works better than most hi end phones. S3 9300 and 9305 are old, the S3 was the first quad core on the market, really an old CPU, the snapdragon 400 A7 of the S3 NEO is the same as S5 mini and works like a dragon XD.
The 0.5 GB of added RAM combined with a really light standard firmware makes the phone really good with multitasking, there are usually 700 or more MB of free RAM. (i just blocked some bloatware, but without root)
It hasn't the knox counter too, and where I live it's even cheaper than the old one, you won't regret.
Well, thanks for the replies.. But I'm still in a dilemma.
By the way, is it true that neo has no gorilla glass? If so, would that be a major problem?
I think I'm going with the standard one.. What do you think, is S3 a good phone to buy now, or is it too outdated?
I'm not sure about the no gorilla glass thing..but if you're really keen on having a decent 4.4.2 kitkat stock ROM then go for the neo but remember you'll have less support here on xda. The S3 is old yes..but it doesn't mean its not good. I just got my s3 and its great.. best phone I've ever had. Screen is superb, camera is pretty decent, the cpu may be old but it sure runs like a dream. I never have random reboots, or serious freezes and multitasking is great too.plus there's plenty of Roms to choose from here on xda if stock doesn't do it for you.

I want to make a port of android lolipop to my device (GT-9063T). This phone have only the stock 4.2.2 android and no custom roms.
The rom i`m getting as a base is the stock 5.1.1 update for Galaxy J1 Ace (J110M). The two devices have:
Dual sim support;
480x800 pixels
1.2 ghz, quad core processor
1 gb ram (the same tipe of ram too)
8gb internal memory.
Obs: There is more stuff, but i think the important ones are already here.
Are these devices similar enough so i can port the update more easily? If yes, what is the best thread you can link me to? I don't care about speed, i have the patience to spend a good time working on this.
Well, thank you guys for the attention
I'm not a developer but I believe in the end it boils down to similar processors
