I've had a 64mb sd card for too long now and it's about time I purchased a 256mb card. It seems there's never enough space!
So, I noticed from another guy that if I transfer all of the data from one card to another and then put the new card in, it recognises it's a new card and all of the programs have to be reinstalled!!!
Is there a smart, easy way to fool the XDA into thinking it has the same SD Card but with more space?
Cheers
Keith
I haven't heard of what you're saying. Do you have a link to a discussion thread somewhere?
We found this out when a 64mB card was swapped for a 256mB card. Prior to doing this swap, the data on the old card was copied to the new one (on a PC) but the XDA seemed to know that this wasn't the original card. Anyone any ideas how to get around this?
Cheers
Keith
is the sdcard label the same ?
I take it you are takling about the makes of card? If yes then no....
The 64mB card is Maxell and I can't remember the other one but it definitely isn't Maxell. Do you think a different manufacturer has something to do with it?
We thought it might be the XDA being too smart by embedding a code somewhere into the root of the card, etc.
Keith
no label not brand
label is also used for harddisks
so you can label your harddisk joe or bigwilly or something like that
if the label on the cards are not the same then myabe that could be why
And where would I find the 'label' for the SD Card?
Also, I've copied the data from the old card to the new card using my laptop. Everything still works okay!!! So they must have the same label. It would be nice to find out where I can see this label.
Cheers
Keith
this tool should tell and let you change it i'm sure it's stated somewhere in the mw2003 aswell
http://www.softwinter.com/storagetools.html
Keep in mind that swapping cards and transferring data to a new card are
different acts and should always be followed by a soft reset, it works a little different with a two card slot device though!
HTH
Thanks for all of the info. I'll try this program when I get 5 minutes peace.
Thanks again
Keith
hey peeps just wondering if anyone has or knows if it would be possible to change the internal sd card? im assuming the ram is soldered in and is linked in some way to the phone and wont be able to change but what about the internal sd?
Not possible... Its not an sd card and also soldered in.
Just partition your sd to add a 1GB primary ext2 partition and then install link2sd. Means you can move any allocation and its data to sd card. You must be rooted though! Hope this helps!

thanks for the reply mate. u sure its not a sd card? i could of swore most of the smart phones which have internal memory is a micro sdhc card. in this and the galaxy s it has a lil plastic bit where it is behind? i just thought with a class 10 8gb or something it would make the phone quicker and obviously not have to worry about moving things to external sd
I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but here's some theory: the phone got 2 storages: the internal storage of 1gb flash which is soldered and cannot be changed and the sd card for data/music/photo/whatever to store on. This micro sdhc card can be changed. Class 4-6 is okay and every micro sdhc card should work... hope i answered your question

is the sd card you talking about the external one? i thought there was a internal sd card which you would have to take the phone apart to get to. thats the one i was thinking of changing. i know people have done it with the dell streak
Hi
Anyone using a class 10 Memento 32gb Micro Sd Card.
I am having problems with this - it tends to get damaged and i lose all the data.
it has already happened twice to me
Anyone having similar problem with such a card - or not having such problem with such a card?
Ken
sounds like a fake to me, I got a card of ebay once, 32gb that was actually 4gb or 8gb cant remember. Works fine till the limit is hit, or data gets put on the part that dont exist.
Take it out of the phone, put in reader, connect to pc, format, copy some major size files to it's capacity. Then you will know if it's very faulty or very fake.
I bit the bullet and got a lexar class10 32gb and very impressed with it
Let me know how you get on
Search would have revealed same question same brand of card .

Sorry yet can't understand what you are saying?
Can you please clarify?
Ken
If you searched the forum via the search button or had a good memory
then you will have found similar post as you made
Memento card not working properly ..
my reply to that post was never heard of that make of card least from memory it was that make of card
add to that the multiple posts of 32GB cards not working properly as they are fakes .
Test card with sd card tester my suggestion .

Hi
Thanks for your reply
i inserted card into sd card holder and inserted in pc - i did a scan disk and got no errors.
i tried trasnfering 6gb of data and it transfered.
Is there any more testing i can do?
Ken
copy the 6gb file again and again till you fill 32gb
Ok i know theres a sim card slot, and 16gb of internal storage but im looking to see if there is a external slot for a Micro SD. I saw a post somewhere saying something about a MicroSD and another card possibly. but on the major sites like sprint. It only says 16 internal. nothing about external of having it or not.
Yes im aware of it being a stupid question but I see a site saying it does but then every other site doesnt even mention it.
It has an microSD card slot under the battery door. No need to remove the battery to extract the card.

ok Thank you very much for the quick reply and a answer :-D i hit the thanks button for you.
I've just got this awesome device, and I am satisfied with its great performance. But I found that the card slot is a little bit different from other devices I've ever had. Could anyone tell me how to remove the memory card correctly? Should I try just pull it out of the slot? Is there an unique mechanism to remove the card? I am afraid of my new phone gets hurt~

I see, thanks a lot!! I have tried to remove it by pushing the card into the slot and waiting for the card spring out of the slot, but it didn't work~
