How to root Asus Padfone Mini 7?
I already examine Vroot and Asus Padfone2 root metod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2135735) they didn't work.
I can not install programs on sdcard and many programs like titanium backup doesn't work
Try Framaroot, maybe this oneclick tool works for you. You can find it here on xda.

didn't work either
Why this device doesn't root yet?! I mean this is xda forum! the best professional forum about these issues... how there isn't any method?!
Can't find anything to root the device yet...
Yeah, it is quite annoying, but would not try to mess with it without an expert advice.Hopefully someone gets it done. Please report here if some news.

I'm considering to sell the device, no update no root tool...
They say it is the same phone as zenfone, there is root tool for zenfone on this forum, but checks the version and tells you it is for zenfone only. Now maybe if the dev has removed the check, i would try it.

Rootkit from zenfone4
Hello
I've receive the new padfone mini last week (intel version 4").
During update (without rootkit !) to the official update Asus, i've softbrick the device.
They are no recovery mode in the droidboot menu (possible to edit in xml file ?)
Only the fastboot menu is ok (no the adb).
OEM unlock in not supported.
conclusion : brick and no CWM or TWRP recovery/boot available
Test with many files from Zenfone4, but signKey not good and i don't know how change key and rebuild the .img
i can't test this APK rootkit before bricking my device ... search over the asus-zenfone.com rootzenfone-144r-apk
may be compatible with Mini ?
Waiting feedback to test all solutions
In snapdragon T00c version you can choose the rom update from sdcard, in stock recovery menu, i downgraded successfully from asus stock rom. Now if only someone has moded the rom to be rooted, then we would see the light

Hey, great news. Just trying it myself, but it seems to go "downloading requisite dependency files, waiting for device, checking root status" in loop for some time now. Is there anything i have missed. Which version of rom do you have ? I have 10.14.6.61 latest. Thanks for any help.

I've rooted and unrooted a bit for testing,so make sure to plug the phone without the station, don't update the firmware at the recent 10.14.6.65 only the .61 works, the weirdest part is that you have to try a bit of time, continue trying until it works if the phone reboots during the proces a good sign.

Okay, so you have tested your tablet and you believe it has root access. Now tell me what exactly are you attempting to do when the AiO tool tells you your tablet needs root access?
Im trying to enable the write permissions to sd, and now when ever i do a selection of any option on the AIO options non of them work and before i did the update to (release1 a) i had access to everything in the menu
super SAD i just used a root checker and i have lost my root access ... please some please tell me there is something i can do to fix this and have access once again.. can i downgrade or work away around this ?

Unfortunately, you have lost root access and currently there are no methods available for you to regain root access. Your mistake was flashing your tablet using the OTA update file as-is instead of using Condi's AiO tool to pre-root the OTA update file before flashing your tablet.
ah well that really sucks..... and from what i have been reading there is no way of downgrading is there ?

The auther said included "VpnFaker.apk" had adjusted certification of original "VpnDialogs.apk" in /system/app/ in Japan ver.
So I guess you must match VpnFaker.apk's certification to your oliginal "VpnDialogs.apk", but it's required rooted device.
hi Yupandra2012,

have you rooted it? any news? I have 5580 and I'm also interested in rooting
It is already rooted in stock rom (JB 4.1.1 v1.03). Just install SU from android market and enjoy.
I tryed that and it said unable to install su binarys. Any ideas? Have you done the ota update?
Mine Prestigio 5880D came with ICS 4.0.4. Then I've tried app Root Checker and it said that device is rooted. After that I've upgraded from SD card to JB 4.1.1 v1.02 and tried again Root checker and to my joy it stay rooted. Installed SU and everything went fine. Last thing I've done is flashing OTA update to v1.03 which is minor update and everything stays as it was before.
Try using Root Checker to see if your device is rooted.
Does anyone here owns Prestigio PMP5770D? Anyone rooted it?
I tryied this method and it failed
Thanks in advance for answer and sorry for OT.

How to root PMP5880D: it is rooted in 1.0.1, BUT in 1.0.3(maybe in 1.0.2 too) it is LOCKED. So, just download archive with 1.0.1 firmware from prestigio.com/info/product/downloads?NODE_ID=120123130540324284&ITEM=120928084609891248 , inside this archive will be further instructions in pdf(installation from sd card). Needless to say, don't update this version, or you'll get locked again. (personal expirience)

I'm a total Sony noob. I ditched the galaxy note line and my beloved galaxy mega in return for my xperia ultra. Stupidly I let it update to the latest firmware (. 257) now it seems I'm stuck without a root method. I've searched around xda and it seems the only way to root my ultra is to unlock the bootloader wiping my drm keys from the ta partition. So I have the choice between having root or having x reality, Sony apps and a warrantee. Can someone please confirm if this is correct? is or will there be another way?
Android without root may as well be ios and I don't want to have to get out the mega and demote my ultra to 'work phone' status
Thanks, James
This might be correct at the present time. Previously in your situation we were doing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502185. However i believe Vroot has been pulled, at least for now, due to potentially beimg malware. Haven't heard any news on that for a while now tho.

Hi James,
Let me give you the 411 on Sony devices.
Firstly Sony devices are almost impossible to brick. The only real way to brick your phone is to try and do an update when the battery is at 10% or something, and the battery goes totally flat.
(then it wont be able to hold charge, so will basically be a SD storage device that cannot retain information)
Unlocking bootloader- This is something you will probably want to do, but at a later date. The only real advantage of this is that modified kernels and ROM's can be flashed. At the moment x-reality isn't lost when you unlock your bootloader. But track ID is lost.
- You can undo this
Root - It's highly unlikely that IMEI numbers were harvested. They were ready, but we don't know anything else.
- You can undo root
Backing up your TA partition - (done after Rooting) This is done so if something goes wrong, then you are able to re-flash your TA partition, and restore your device back to stock, and still be covered under your warranty. Inside this partition, is a store of device information. DRM keys, IMEI, MAC address... etc.
- You can undo this
Recovery - Im sure you know this...
Essentially what every you do you can undo. Sony are really dev friendly. Kind of what Samsung used to be like.

Link doesn't work. Yes, you can get root, back up your TA, get recovery aaand I don't know what that link does, so I don't know. But you can install SuperSU and remove the root app from vRoot. Keep in mind that it's not the vRoot root app that's suspicious but the desktop app.
Still, we have no idea at this point so you can either root and live with it or you can wait it out and see what the investigation brings up.

Does anyone have a TWRP or CWM recovery image that can be flashed and booted on. 257? Or do you have to flash the CWM kernel, flash any zips you want, then reflash the .257 kernel in order to boot up and run? Is the recovery always tied to the kernel on this device? A lotta questions, i know

On the Kingo website the C6833 is not listed as on of the compatible devices, is this an issue?

You can't root .257 yet, so you'll have to downgrade to 532 or earlier first.

even without root..we can still flash the old 532 fw just to gain access to root right?
and then what? maybe use OTA Root Keeper to keep root?

You can root the XTZ, but it's a bit of work... IMO the easiest way is to install a custom rom, but there are other root methods for this device...

OK I am kind of lost with these numbers (109 etc)..I read the link and it looks like it isnt easy like the Samsung devices.
First do I need to unlock my bootloader? Is it possible to install custom rom without root?

1.) I suggest you simply flash 10.1.C.0.370 firmware and root it using the attached file below.
2.) install the latest dual recovery by NUT.
3.) then follow this:

two important things, you should be rooted and has a recovery installed before proceeding the update and retain the root .
@donedos After connecting the tablet with the companion software on my mac, I got the .109 upgrade
Now I am on .109 Firmware.
- How should I flash 10.1.C.0.370? Which tool to flash, source to find 10.1.C.0.370 (search would do?)?
Many thanks

Okay, I have flashed firmware .370 to my tablet (but used SGP312 instead of 311 which is the model of my tablet!), and I have that awful UI layout with the home key and back button of the bottom left and the drop down menu on bottom right! .109 update has popped up as well.
When/if I update to .109 (after root) will my model be SGP311?
I have rooted okay, but used doomlord xploit as the file you attached did not seem to work, and I have installed the recovery by NUT.
I now have the firmware for SGP311 (UK), but only a .ftf file (853,683kb). The directions above state you should have a zip file also

You might lose root with the OTA. The awful phone layout is a consequence of Google trying to unify the UI across Android devices. It's a bit better for devs, lot worse for users. But you eventually get used to it. With 4.4, even Settings app will have the giant phone UI.

Hi. I have a Huawei Mediapad T1 7.0.
I tried Kingroot 4.8.2 to root my device (connected to the internet from the start) but it didn't work for me.
Does Kingroot work with specific kernel version or something? @DjSix4 Can you post a tutorial of what you've done?
Please help. Thanks.
I successfully rooted mine using kingroot from a PC. I had already this only worked after I managed to unlock my bootloader though. You can request a code from emui.com. You need to create a huawei ID and have your account for two weeks before you can get the code though.
Thanks! I will try to do this and I'll let you know if it works.

Yeah, I know. I basically just kept clicking the green (or blue) buttons or whatever and it worked. That said, I lost root for some reason so I need to do it again.
install kingroot 4.9.6 and try root (repeat 2-5 time)if doesnt work just keep it dont uninstall kingroot..then install kingoroot and click root
repeat 2-5 times until there is two result:
1.kingoroot when reached 90% said kingroot request root permission.. pick granted ..even says kingoroot failed but you have kingroot working as root management..
2.kingoroot success and superuser installed...but kingroot fail to gain root ...
i think the key is update problem the baseband with xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx_pi can be done with kingroot only..but if updated tried methode above....
I used KingoRoot and it worked!Just install the apk one and then start rooting(just wait though)!Hope this helped you!...
