Hi,
today I get my xperia z2. I want to root it, but I can't find any instruction. I can unlock bootloader but I don't want to do it, because I will lose some features like xreality or camera(?). Is it possible root z2 w/o unlocking bootloader now?
Greetings,
jxx17.

exactly, you made it sound so simple
after unlocking the bootloader, flashing a prerooted system.img will also work if you don't want a custom kernel.
Finding this should not be that hard: [Xperia S][INFO][REF] All that u need to know before u begin
Oh.. and unlocking the bootloader will also have some disadvantages like warranty and DRM related things.
Still not easy
can you link it step by step plz...
what i have to do first
(little noob)
I have not rooted my phone (yet..) i don't want to unlock bootloader.
I think its best if you start reading from the beginning of the previous link, or if you want to get started right away then:
see this tutorial for Unlocking Bootloader:
[Tutorial] Xperia S Bootloader Unlocking & Relocking
and this for rooting:

If this tutorial is too much for you then itskapil wrote a step-by-step guide (and recorded a video also):
-Instructions: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-unlock-bootloader-xperia-arc-play-neo-pro/
-Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRH3pC7MhEA
(the above videos and some steps are for Xperia 2011 devices, but most the steps are same for Xperia S)

Thx man i will try it...
to root i will have to unlock bootloader??
is that really needed?
Arter bootloader i need to unlock also??
Currently it is the only way to root, later on another way will probably come along, but for now you must unlock your bootloader to root your device.
There isn't really much of downside besides losing some functionality in some apps due to the loss of your DRM key. It does not 100% void your warranty, but if you plan on overclocking and it goes wrong, your warranty will probably be voided.

Actually you don't need to unlock the bootloader anymore. Search for something called TowelRoot (and if this doesn't work, there is a root for Xperia Z2 with locked bootloaders by, I believe, Doomlord).

Hey guys!
One more question: Is it possible to root my Xperia Go without unlocking the bootloader? So I could do root without losing warranty, is not it?
And if it fails to root without unlocking the bootloader, there is possibility of transferring the Xperia Home 7.0.A.0.14 for my Xperia Go without root?
Thanks and sorry for my bad English
You must be root to change your Xperia Home, and about root, there's a DooMLoRD exploit root method somewhere, just use search button

Any android device can be rooted without unlocking the bootloader, but if you root your device, you will loose your warranty.
(According to Sony terms and Conditions)
Use flashtools for rooting and unrooting.. Without concerning bootloader.

Hi guys,
I have bought a second-hand z2 tablet. Unfortunately it has the BL unlocked and no DRM keys backup. I flashed the last stock rom (firmware 23.0.1.A.4.44) keeping bootloader unlocked. I read that with KK update X-reality should work also without DRM keys, but this is not true for me. Is there any way to fix this problem? If I re-lock BL and after repair with PCC , can I solve it?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply.
I took a look at the post: honestly I don't care to have custom ROM or BL unlocked. For now
stock rom is good for me. Since lollipop is coming, I'll try to relock BL and repair with PCC, hoping Sony will remove the restrictions. Otherwise I'll try the procedure that you have suggested.
