Does our phone have OTG support? I am currently using omni rom+ renderbrokens kernel and was wondering whether i can run external usb drive on my phone using Otg cable. I tried stick mount from chainfire for experimenting. But dint work. Help

Install USB OTG checker, or similar app, and check it yourself.
Os has otg api but otg signal is not being sent. The possible reason given is that kernal does not support or you have not connected usb storage.

Is it safe to assume that kernel does not support OTG

If you ask in the kernel thread maybe the developer will give you a definitive answer.

Hi all,
I flashed Checkrom Revo HD v6 and the latest Siyah kernel. Everything's cool except my SGS2 is no longer recognizing my USB OTG. It worked fine on other SGS2 so it has to be my phone. Is it my ROM or is it the kernel?

Flash a stock kernel and/or stock ROM and find out.
Using Siyah 2.6.13#122 & just checked USB OTG. Hooked up a Lexar 8MB stick with an Xvid movie on it, navigated to /sdcard/usbdisk with file manager (Root Explorer) & stick is mounted r/o as per usual. Video plays fine in native video player, USB OTG works.
Could it be the rom then?

Are we reading the same thread?
Can someone please confirm if usb host( otg cable) is working in the leaked ics rom?
I just tried and no dice. Although it does require kernel support also and im running a custom one. I asked chad if he could include usb host support in his next release so we'll see then
So currently usb host doesn't work with any kernel and rom?

I don't know about complete stock. Since I flashed chads kernel and he doesn't have the source yet usb only works for charge. It doesn't work for mass storage. He said when he gets usb working that he'll enable usb host mode on kernel side and we can see then
I can do mass storage via sense on mostly stock ics/stock kernel

USB OTG needs kernel and rom support. But AFAIK, ICS has OTG support built in, but I haven't been able to get it to work.

I also got a WD 500 gb and it worked fine whereas I had to use paragon and inside the app mount the drive. You could also try a different kernel, e.g. siyah, that supports ntfs without an app if I am not wrong.

when I first connected the WD I was still on stock kernel, hence I used paragon app to mount the NTFS WD.
right now I am using Siyah 1.8 whereas I did not yet again connect the WD to my phone, I only read that Siyah supports to mount NTFS drives.

I flashed CM 7.2 Stable per instructions found on androidcentral. I really like the ROM, but neither USB mass storage nor debugging over USB works. While I can live without USB mass storage, the lack of debugging is kind of a deal-breaker for me. Does anybody know if there is any way to get the USB working with CM 7.2? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Is this the same driver that I installed when I got the phone (I think I downloaded it from the lg website when I upgraded to GB)? Other ROMs don't have this problem including stock Froyo/Gingerbread, Rashed97's CM10, and popdog123's SlimBean 3.1...
Hi
I have a USB 3 2TB external hard drive formatted in NTFS. When attached to G5 but say device corrupt.
Is there a native support for this via root, custom ROM or kernel?
Many thanks.
