Hi
Recently chat through the native Facebook app has been disabled, and they're now refering to their 'facebook messenger' app. The only problem with that app is, that I'm not able to disable notifications. It only give me two options --> "An hour" or "Until 8 P.M"... I don't care if anyone have wrote to me on facebook, so is there any "hack", that can solve my problem?

If you are on Jelly Bean or higher, you can long press on the notification, hit App Info and turn off the notifications there. Or just go to Settings / Applications/Application Manager and disable it there. Same thing, just whichever you find easier. If you don't use the app though, just disable it.
I am playing about with Hangouts, nd have set it as my default SMS app.
I have a group contact on my phone called "Team". I would like to send a message to everyone in Team through Hangouts. However it doesn't appear in the contact list?
I was able to do this with stock app.
Running CM11.

You can try to add them to a Google + circle and then you can group message them.
Every Android user is having a Google account so it would be easy to just hangout a circle.

Ok I was able to add everyone to a circle called "Team". BUT not everyone is an android user, I had to add some people via email address.
When I open Hangouts and try to send a SMS to this circle, it is creating a hangout. It doesn't appear to be using SMS? There is no "SMS" in the bottom left of the screen beside where you type your message. How do I know if it will text everyone?

What is the advantage of using the Facebook Messenger app if messages can be sent by using the Facebook app directly?
To reply to a message:
Using Facebook app:
Click on notification in notification menu
Type message
Using Messenger app:
Click on notification in notification menu or click on contact bubble
Type message
To type a new message:
Using Facebook app:
Open Facebook app
Click on Message icon
Click compose
Type recipient
Type message
Using Messenger app:
Open Messenger app
Click compose
Type recipient
Type message
So the Messenger app only saves you ONE step (i.e., clicking on the Message icon) in comparison to the Facebook app, in terms of writing a new message. The time saved is negligible.
The only other feature of the Messenger app that I see is that it can send messages to people in your contact list, whether or not they have Facebook, by sending an SMS instead. So it will prefer a Facebook message, but fallback on SMS.
Is there any other advantage of using the Messenger app?

They did, and then they brought it back, probably due in large part to the outcry that ensued.

where did you see that?cant find anything confirming that...Even in this thread there are guys using the re enabler for facebook chat ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-facebook-chat-enabler-t2934179 )
Why would it be necessary to have an enabler if they brought back chat on the main app?
I dont use facebook app and have no way to confirm it right now, but as far as i know, messenger is needed to chat
EDIT: Ok, just tried it, facebook app does not allow chatting. redirects to download messenger. You are probably using the enabler i mentioned earlier.

You are absolutely right, I noticed the interfaces were different between messaging in FB and messaging in the Messenger app, and I wrongly assumed they were independent. However, after disabling Messenger I see that FB messaging doesn't work in the native app, requiring Messenger to be re-enabled.
This essentially renders my question moot. Thanks for the clarification.
Hey
Since MIUI 11 i have 2 issue :
Issue about the notifications on my watch(Fossil Gen 4TH)
WhatsApp , SMS , and another notifications don't work.... just my music
And another issue
"Update functionnality of Facebook" at every launch of application !
Thanks to @AFiREiNSiDE182 to try to resolve the issue , but work just for 3-4days
"- uninstall Facebook and Messenger app
- download (from Apkmirror) latest Facebook and Messenger beta apk and install it
- from Play Store, disable auto update for this two apps"
So i send a message to Miui Chat and they said to me " know issues"
And " hotfix in progress"

No , say to me " we can't not tell to you the date , but it's in progress"
I solved this by long touch the notification and disable the update notification channel for play store. It will also disable normal play store notifications about updating your apps but it is better than seeing the notification everytime you open facebook.

Can we post here the list of safe apps to uninstall with ADB commands?
I just downloaded APK Extractor from the Play Store - I looked for any logos of the apps I would never use and removed them. I can't list every single one as they're all gone now. I only had an issue uninstalling the SMS messaging app. Had to reinstall that one as the system automatically defaults to it. Without it installed, I wasn't getting any texts coming through. Lame!
Great info !
Then uninstal chinese apps is easy and without risk with Apk Extractor ?
Only keep the original sms app and choose an other that we choice for Message (for me it's Signal).

I don't think any messaging apps will work (Google Messages, Signal, etc.) because the Chinese ROM will force default to Oppo Messaging as soon as you receive an SMS/MMS.

How do you mean Oppo forces the official app Mail? It doesn't for me?
I've been using Blackberry Inbox for mail, and it works great and it is the default mail app on my Find N. I've actually uninstalled the official app (just using the normal app uninstall, not adb). So it doesn't force a different mail app for me, and in fact the official mail app is no longer on the phone.
I try now to uninstal official app Mail but in default app for mail it was already AquaMail but no notification for AquaMail ...

I must admit, I have notifications turned off for Blackberry Inbox, as I find mail notifications annoying (as I get too many), and I check my mail regularly anyhow. But you should get mail notifications if you make sure that AquaMail is one of the 5 apps you allow to auto startup, allow it to run in the background, and you turn off battery optimization for the app. Another tip would be to pin the app in task view so that when the memory is cleaned it stays in memory.

I haven't tried as I'm fine using the stock SMS/MMS app, as I don't use SMS/MMS much (mostly Whatsapp/Wechat/Telegram, etc. these days). As I've said somewhere else, I usually try not to fight a new phone, but work with it, and the stock messages app works quite well, and has nice features like tap to fill when you receive a auth code, etc.
There is a setting to change the default messaging app; but others have had problems trying to use another messaging app or dialer/phone app as default (I assume did try setting the default to something else) and apparently it resets to the system default? Worth a go though.
Failing that, you could probably get it working using the same method that the community got the Nova Launcher working (combination of adb and tasker) -
Nova Launcher lock rotation brave toggle desktop-mode (Using Tasker)
Using Tasker to change the default launcher for OPPO FIND N, by canceling Oppo's method to enforce their launcher. -- Requirements 1- Tasker (paid ~3$). --- Autoinput (2$), for Brave desktop/phone mode auto switiching. 2- Launcher of your...

Many thanks for the feedback. I would totally be at peace with the Oppo messages app if could only receive group MMS texts. Are you successful there as well?

Again, sorry I haven't tried that, as I don't use group SMS/MMS messaging; I use Whatsapp/Wechat/Telegram for that type of group messaging. In the UK MMS messages are usually an additional (sometimes expensive) cost, and so it has never really taken off here as far as I'm aware; and everyone I know uses Whatsapp, etc. for that kind of thing.
I ended up disable-user the following apks :
package:com.coloros.karaoke
package:com.heytap.music
package:com.iflytek.speechsuite
package:com.coloros.weather.service
package:com.oplus.apprecover
package:com.oplus.pay
package:com.oplus.vip
package:com.heytap.reader
package:com.coloros.oshare
package:com.oplus.wifisecuredetect
package:com.oplus.appdetail
package:com.oppo.community
package:com.coloros.securityguard
package:com.heytap.speechassist
package:com.coloros.codebook
package:com.coloros.phonemanager
package:com.coloros.securepay
package:com.coloros.directui
package:com.coloros.video
package:com.coloros.filemanager
package:com.coloros.ocrscanner
package:com.nearme.instant.platform
package:com.coloros.floatassistant
package:com.coloros.childrenspace
package:com.heytap.htms
package:com.coloros.remoteguardservice
and uninstalled following:
com.heytap.cloud
com.finshell.wallet
cn.wps.moffice.lite
com.oppo.store
com.baidu.input_oppo
com.opos.ads
com.coloros.assistantscreen
com.heytap.browser
com.heytap.pictorial
com.heytap.smarthome
com.coloros.favorite
com.oplus.safecenter
The preinstalled music, video, reader, wallet and browser are pretty much just adware, get rid of them as quick as possible
These security apk are forcing you to input oppo account password to install apk, but please keep in mind, disable or uninstall them all-together: com.oplus.vip(yes it's related to apk installation), com.oplus.appdetail, com.coloros.securityguard, com.coloros.phonemanager, they are calling each-other when you install apps, by just removing some of them, you are risking breaking apk installer functionality, but I've tested after get ride of them, all non-sense just disappeared
And I personally will never use it's build-in password manager, voice assistant, float ball navigator, cloud service, file manager and baidu input so I disabled them, keep those you want
One thing, adb can't disable or uninstall built-in app store, and in some situation, I use it to install some Chinese specific apps.

You don't delete them in the app. You have to delete them using a command prompt on your PC. The app just tells you the package name of each app so you know what to delete.
