WiFi Tether after 4.4.2 update - HTC Droid DNA

Installed the stock 4.4.2 update rom from santod040 since I need MHL to work and I can't find an app that works to enable wifi tether. I'm patiently waiting for the new viper rom 4.0.0, but I don't know of it will support MHL. Anyone have any luck getting the stock tether to work? Is there a way to change the entitlement check like on the Droid Bionic? Thanks in advance.

[Q] using ATT wifi hotspot with GE rom

Is it possible to connect to AT&T wifi hotspots at Starbucks etc. if we have flashed the GE rom put out today? I like how my phone auto-connects to these wifi networks without me needing to do anything and I want to maintain this in the GE rom if possible.
I've pulled the ATT_HotSpot.apk and .odex files from /system/app/
I'm thinking that after flashing the GE rom, I can push those files back to /system/app/
Anyone have thoughts on this?
Found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645535
So I'm wondering if in addition to pushing the .apk and .odex files back after flashing GE, the wpa_supplicant.conf file(s?) will need to be modified to include the attwifi settings.
I found 3 config files and they are here:
/system/etc/wifi/
/etc/wifi/
/data/misc/wifi/
The first two are identical and only contain info for "attwifi". The last one has "attwifi" plus all other saved network and pw info in it.
I guess I won't know till I try it but if anyone has advice it is appreciated
You'll only need the WISP Service apk, which appears as 'AT&T Hot Spots' in the apps list. That is what takes care of the auto-login to AT&T WiFi networks. Just flash the attached zip, there's not configuration or anything, it just looks for SSIDs like attwifi and does auto-login if it can. It works on any 4.1 or 4.2 rom.

OK great! That would be a lot easier.
Curious though, whats the difference between the WISP Service apk and ATT_hotspot.apk? Or maybe its the same thing?
Also where did you get this? I don't see it in /system/app/ (I'm still on stock right now, probably gonna flash GE tomorrow)

The ATT_hotspot apk is to use your phone as a hotspot (tethering).
I got the apk from an AT&T stock rom then modified it to work with 4.2.2 as well.
Ahhh that makes sense.
So I can just put the zip on my sdcard, then install via TWRP right?
Figured it out.
Works like a charm! Thanks!
I still don't understand how you got this though. What directory was this in?

Pulled it from a completely different ROM, for AT&T Skyrocket ICS.

Just used it at a hotspot that requires an AT&T dataplan for authentication. Worked seamlessly. Thanks again.
Has anyone tested this on 4.4 KitKat? I'd love to flash it on my Nexus 5. I actually used it a lot on my AT&T S4.

Thank you so much for this apk. I upgraded my 9.5.8 version, which was working flawlessly on my CM11 KitKat ROM. Then I upgraded to CM12.1 Lollipop and it didn't work, so I found and installed your 9.7.0 file and it works great on CM12.1 Lollipop. Thank you!

The Mobile Hotspot is built into the stock ROM. Is that what you are trying to do?

I tried that mobile hotspot under the mobile network sharing, but when i tried to connect with my pc, the tmobile won't let me do it. I flash the new htc one JB 4.3 ROM, then I installed wifitether_treve,mod, and it won't work. But when i installed this app on JB 4.1, it did work perfectly for internet share on my laptop. My phone is rooted, and i want flash back to 4.1, currently it still JB 4.3. I don't know how to set this app to work. There are two ways that you may help me. One is can you help me setting wifi tethering for JB 4.3? or can you tell me how to downgrade to JB 4.1? Thank you for your help.
What happens when you try and tether on the stock app? Also what rom are you on?

[Q] Wifi Hotspot issues.

Does anyone know if there is a working solution to the tethering problem. I'm on 4.4.2 and ever since 4.3 I haven't been able to tether except by USB cable via PDAnet. I tried the SQlite method, but that didn't work.
Should I roll back to a previous version? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I rolled back to 4.3, but still no tethering. If anyone knows of a thread that can help, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you.
You need to remove the hidden tether APN in the XML file found inside the framework-red.apk

wifi tether for Droid MAXX running 4.4 version 19.6.3?

I just rooted my Droid Maxx on KitKat 4.4 version 19.6.3 and now I'm trying to get Wi-Fi tether, but not having any luck. Tried replacing the entitlement apk file, but I think I used one for 19.5.3.. Is there an apk file that works for 19.6.3?

I am interested in this as well. I am on 19.5.3 and want to update, but am afraid of losing tether. Does anyone have a solution for 19.6.3 or higher?

No roms with tether?

I came from the thunder bolt so I'm used to downloading a Rom and having WiFi tether work flawlessly. Is there any one max Rom for Verizon that can do this for me? I tried flashing the WiFi fix and it says incompatible device. Any help would be great... I'm on nusensesix and have a unlimited data plan and apologies if this is the wrong section to post in
Yes, I'll pm you

Thank you very much I was making a mistake thinking that the tether feature wasn't hacked already in nusensesix
