[Q] ROM Cleaner didn't erase Sammy apps - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So... I have just flashed Android Revolution HD 51.0 (4.3 - Jelly Bean) on my GT-I9300. My steps were, a full wipe, flash the rom, reboot and install my apps. Unfortunately, ( because is based on a stock ROM) it came with tons of native Samsung apps like S Voice and S Memo.
So, I run ROMCleaner with the attached file and apparently all the stock apps were gone. But when I rebooted the phone, a "Optimizing apps" message (or something like that) appeared and then, all the stock app were still on my phone. Looks like the phone recognize that the apps wasn't there and install then again.
Is this a normal behavior or I have done something wrong? What's the best approach to remove this stock apps?
Thanks in advance

Android 4.0.4 ICS changing stock iOS look to original Android look

I do have a Hero H2000+ with rooted ICS ROM, Android 4.0.4.
When you enter menu/settings there´s an imitated iOS structure with just a few/selected Android settings. Screenlock is also like iOS.
I´m not able to get original Android settings menu with all Android settings. Just installed Holo launcher HD, but menu is still like iOS.
How can I come to Original Android 4.0.4 ICS menu?
Thanks!!!
Stefan

only with app "voxer".
Try this ROM
http://www.sendspace.com/file/g953ll
It´s unfortunately with iOS style, but with root and all apps (without voxer till now) work. You just should install another alarm clock and calculator app.
in that german forum there are a lot of ROMs. I.e. Taiwan101 ROM. My Problem is that all of them don´t work with my main camera (

SOLUTION!!!
The solution for regular Android outfit, regular Android menu, with root, playstore and even voxer app working!!!
0. Install CWM recovery (i.e. in play store via ROM Manager app)
1. You have to install this V3 ROM version in CWM recovery first. http://www.sendspace.com/file/g953ll
2. Make a reset (factory reset, reset cache, reset dalvik cache) in CWM recovery
2. Then open SP Flasher and flash only ANDROID and USER DATA unzipped from here http://fileshare.in.ua/6956471
3. install in CWM recovery that .zip n2k1.com/n2k1/GT-i9300/hero_h2000.rar (first unRAR on PC, need only .zip file!!!)
Restart.
Set input to Android keyboard.
Be happy

Flashing Firmware and Changing Camera

Hello!
I'm interested in getting the Nexus 4 camera software for my S3. My phone is rooted and running a custom ROM but I have not a clue on how to flash firmware because I haven't done that for two years. What do I have to do and where can I find the software for camera and features on other phones like the Note 2, Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus?
Galaxy s3 theme and apps section
There, you will find a lot of MODs

Running stock 4.2 Android Camera (ie: From Nexus 4) on other phones
EDIT: If anyone is seeing this and they are on CM10.2 I really do not know if this works or not. I have not bothered with it as I no longer have time to mess around with my phone or contribute to the CM/Temasek projects. I am using the stock camera app.
Are you saying you want the 4.2 android camera running on your device? It is entirely possible to do this, and from what I am aware of, you do not even need android 4.2.x to make it work! (But I will not endorse that statement!)
I am doing this and I have a fully functioning photosphere running on my S3 with CM10.1 (4.2.1 android).
Some bits of info you need to know. So your phone is rooted, do you have a custom recovery installed on it?
You can find this out by pressing (VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER) while the device is shutdown. The phone will start up in recovery mode and on top left it should show the recovery version installed on it. If it is CMW then you are good to go, there are some other recovery modes too, but CMW seems to be the most popular.
When you know you have a recovery installed then just reboot your device as normal and plug it into your USB to access the files on your phone.
After this you just need to head on over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33516626&postcount=1
Scroll down to "Android 4.2 Camera:
Here is my latest flashable zip" in his first post and download the link. It's about 9mb
Download the zip file and copy it onto your mobile external storage. Leave it as a zip file on the external storage.
Reboot your phone into recovery mode again and go into install from zip/external storage. Pick the 4.2camera_t04.zip and install it. Once the install is done restart your phone.
Go into your settings > apps and you willl find that there are two gallery apps now (this happened to me, might not happen to you). Disable the smaller app. Restart phone again. Go into your apps and try out the stock Camera app. It should now be the 4.2 android camera. On the bottom left you can access the settings to change to Photo Sphere.
I am hoping this woulda helped you out a bit lol, and that this is what you were asking for.

I don't see why you can't run the 4.2 camera on your 4.1.2, though there might be framework differences which would stop it from working properly... So I really don't know
As long as you are able to run the zip file from the recovery software on your phone you should be set to go. What's the harm in trying? How about you try it out and tell us if it worked yourself? If it doesn't work just disable the larger "Gallery" app and use the stock gallery..
I am not a developer (though I have some basic knowledge in Java/C etc) and I do not use the stock odex 4.1.2. I am running on Temasek CM10.1 with the Siyah 1.8.6 kernel. CM10.1 is android 4.2.1. My phone is obviously rooted and has CWM 5.8.4.3 recovery mode.
I also don't know much about multiwindows and don't really see the use of it on a small S3 screen... So I can't help you with that either sorry.
So, basically. I have nothing to offer you besides my own experience with what I have lol.

:S Really? What custom ROM are you running. I am not trying to poach you but I am running Temasek v25 atm (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797109) with the 4.2Camera_t04.zip gallery. And the lag is not bad at all for me. It is very slightly laggy (and I notice this so much cos I am a gamer) but it's very very usable still.

[Q] Omega ROM v41 questions

I have just did a clean install of Omega ROM v41 (selected the basic one) and I have a few questions:
Would ask this in the actual Omega thread but I cannot post there due to post count.
1. If I want some of the Samsung apps it didn't install like S Memo, can I install them now (without reflashing the whole ROM), if yes then how.
2. The Allshare is installed but does not seem to beam photos, videos, music via wifi to my Samsung TV anymore, how to fix that?
3. Can I get the Samsung version of Voice Search back instead of googles? I think it looks better and also ow to set it up so that you double press the home button for it?
1+3. because you flashed the basic you didn't get these apps.
you can extract the zip file via root explorer or from your pc and go to /indie\Samsung\SMemo\app and the same for the s voice.
anyways you can just re-flash the rom over the existing without any wipe and just choose both features from custom install at aroma.

I've actually just extracted Smemo and Svoice from the Omega ROM zip and installed them separately and they work fine.
Allshare came installed with the basic but it no longer beams stuff to the TV.
The best thing was its integration with the music/video/galley which I really want back.

[Q] Restoring droid to stock

I couldn't leave well enough alone. I am in Europe, using a Verizon Motorola Droid, which was working (although at each boot would say 'unknown SIM - press ok, then it worked). I rooted the phone, installed Titanium, backed everything up and then started playing. I froze a load of bloatware - everything fine. I then downloaded Greenify and hibernated apps I didn't use. It was great. I should have stopped. I didn't. I downloaded Xposed framework, and then the Gravitybox module. Whoops. My phone took on a life of its own. First, my 'phone' (dialler) and 'people' (contacts) icons said 'app isn't installed' when they were clicked. I restored my Titanium backup. No change. I unfroze all the Titantium apps. No changed. I then rebooted, and the phone and contacts icons completely disappeared, as well as my wallpapers and ringtone, to something that my phone couldn't identify. I uninstalled Gravitybox and rebooted. Now the phone no longer connects to the cell phone signal either. I'm sunk, and really need some idea of what to do. Please.......Is there any way of just getting this phone back to some kind of workable order?
Try re-flashing the gapps for your android version. I think Android 4.2.2. And always remember: Make backups. Systembackups with Safestrap for example.

Thanks. I'm on 4.1.2. I have been trying to find instructions and/or a link regarding just reflashing the whole phone to the stock version, but can't find any. Would you know of one? I am a total noob (as evidenced by my thread) - so I am wondering - if I downloaded one of the other systems, like Liquid Smooth or whatever, does that also flash the phone where all the system files are new, or does it build upon the kernel which I appear to have screwed up??
Google should find a flashable Gapps.zip file. If nothing works, look into the firmwares super thread for stock roms or install cyanogenmod.
My mystery is somewhat solved - the upshot being don't leave a rooted phone around a young fella who is just starting to play with computers, as my son has been 'uninstalling' various files on my phone - the effect of which, of course, didn't come into effect until I rebooted, having downloaded Gravity Box. I have been able to find and restore 'People' and 'Phone' through my Titanium back-up. However, my phone is still not seeing my sim - another file that has been uninstalled, I imagine. I would hope that perhaps someone knows the name of the file that allows the phone to see the sim, rather than me having to uninstall all the files. My son says he only uninstalled about 5 files, but does not remember the names. Not a developer in the making!
I also have the problem with the recovery menu, where I cannot boot into it. Would an uninstalled file cause this? I downloaded Clockworkmod recovery, only to be then told that it does not support the Motorola Razr 'Spyder'. Are there any other options? And is the XT912 considered the 'Razr Spyder or is it one of the Droid options?? Thanks for any help you can give.

[Q] Jellbean 4.3 App Deleted

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999L with Android 4.3, then downloaded Titanium Back-up, and then started removing several apps (in an attempt to strip the bloatware). Now when I go to Google Play and try to install a new app, I click the "Install" button and wait for the progress meter to reach 100%, but no "Open" button appears afterward (which used to happen). When I search my phone, there are no icons for any of the new apps I try installing.
Does anyone know which app I deleted that caused this problem? Thank you.
Put back you're nandroid backup. (I assume you make one before you start deleting some apps.)
Or flash a stock rom back without whipping. So you dont lose some data.
Send From A Devil3 - f2fs - Dualboot Jb4.3/cm11 Powered Machine
Have you tried rebooting the phone?
if you have installed TB then you have rooted the phone obviously. Explore your data folder from the root directory using TB or any advanced file explorers like Root explorer or Es file explorer. Find the apk files of the apps you have installed just to verify if your play store has downloaded the apps to your phone.
Also are you sure if you removed only bloatware or any core apks related to your android system... like eg: application provider.apk
I did not make a backup. Before flashing a ROM, I wanted to post here and see if anyone knows what app being deleted caused the behavior I described. That's what I'm wondering: Do you know which specific app being deleted would cause Google Play to have the described problem? When I try to install a new app, it gets to "100%" on the status bar, but subsequently fails to display the "Open" button. Everything else on the phone works flawlessly and I put a lot of time into customizing the phone with apps I like.
Having said that, I am curious about the option to flash a ROM that you mentioned. The reason I did not want an Apple phone is because they seemed to restrictive of options and freedom. But lately I am thinking about Google censoring AdBlock from Google Play, the EFF's criticism of doing away with AppOpps, and shoving Google+ down the throats of YouTube users. So, I looked into Cyanogen but my model of phone was not listed on Cyanogen's website for phones tested to work. I am interested to exploring the idea of flashing a ROM (which I never did before) but I definitely want to keep my 4G LTE functioning via T-Mobile. Any ideas?
