Hello,
My Pioneer R1 tablet the other night decided to do an automatic upgrade when booting up and hung for hours on 14 of 18 files updated. I rebooted the tablet for it to get to the home screen but come up with the error android phone services not initinalized and then froze. so rebooted and it got to the animated pioneer logo and just sits there never loading fully. Pioneer customer support sucks with helping and the tablet has a reset button on the back in a pin hole. I pressed that the tablet turns off. The tablet still stuck on animated logo. The tablet was running stock jellybean 4.2. The Pioneer people didnt want to do any troubleshooting. told me to send it to them to fix and that if they found anything wrong other than hardware issue i am liable for the charges on to of the shipping cost. I dont have money to just hand out to people who dont have a system setup for troubleshooting. Sorry for a long story but my question is is there anyone who can help me fix this issue.

Hi I have been having this tablet for almost a month now. I have been experiencing when I press the power button to wake the device up, the screen won't turn on to the unlock screen. Its random but it happens to me at least 4-5 times a week. Any of you have the same issue? Is this a known issue cause I'm seriously thinking of returning this device and get an ipad instead.
I have only had my tab for a couple of weeks now, but I have had this happen to me once so far. Was slightly concerning, as I thought it had died for a moment.
EDIT: running version 3.2
Happend to me when I was still on 3.1. Update to 3.2 solved it.
my tablet came with 3.2. i have just written an email to sony. will let you guys know how it goes
happened to me three/four times in total and I had it since the launch. I used reset pin hole to fix.
Hi. I have the same problem. It can happen for 10 times a day. It's really annoying, and I don't know what to do.
Tried hard reset, but problem still remains, even when using only pre-installed programs.
Please help
Yep, I have had mine for about 2 months, never had an issue, went to go turn it on yesterday..... nothing.... so i figured the battery was dead, plugged it in.... nothing.... let it charge all night..... nothing.... tried to reset.... nothing... the light by the power button comes on when plugged in... orange charging, green ready, flashes orange when i reset it, but when i hit the power button, nothing, and the screen doesnt come on. I have had it with Sony and their piece of **** equipement, everything they have came out with since the PS3 has been junk!
I have had my tablet since it launched and this has only happened to me once. Using the reset pinhole fixed it right away. I would exchange it if this happens frequently.
After two months, this just happened to me for the first time about an hour ago... Odd. Pin hole reset fixed it.
Yeap sony suggested me to do the same it's been going ok so far. Another small issue happens to me is that it sometimes hiccup from sleep I had to press the power button twice to turn the screen on
I went to store and just ask for replacement. Now, with the new device it seems everything to be fine
The help guide is very useless yet useful for the Tab S because it says "You must access this page from your tablet." <-- It's broken, so how are we supposed to do that Sony?
But you can find a version of the help guide through loads of 404 errors, and it says prod the reset button with a paperclip (not a needle, a paperclip) and the power button will flash. Then boot up the tab like normal.
This worked for me, which is good because I thought the screen broke as I dropped my alarm clock on it. No physical damage so if I wanted to, the warranty would've covered it
I finally got my tablet back from Sony.... they said they found nothing wrong with it, but it works now, so far no issues. (this is after 2 days of me trying to get it to turn on, and about 3 hours at the store with the repair tech trying to get it to work, hence why they sent it in, and magically Sony found nothing wrong)
Try turning the screen brightness down to 98-99% and not 100% I found that worked for me
Two days ago, I noticed that there was a firmware update for my Archos 101 while at work. I had my Archos with me but not the AC adapter; the tablet requires the user to plug it in before getting started. I paid a visit to Archos' website and downloaded the update file to my laptop instead, double-checking how to install it. Note that I don't have Internet access at home.
Recently, said tablet had been locking up extremely frequently, and without obvious reason or even any real pattern. I even tried a total device reset (wipe the internal user storage and reset the Android partition back to factory defaults) and it didn't help. I was fearing that the firmware had gotten corrupted, and figured that updating would help fix that.
When I got home that night, though, I was dead tired. I made a mental note to update using the offline method in the morning, although I did have the presence of mind to plug it in and get the battery charged. In the morning, I did as the instructions on Archos's website said: mount the device via USB and transfer the firmware update to the root of the user storage area. Unmount, let it detect it, and give it the okay. Simple enough. I hung around the house long enough to watch for an "update okay!" message, then bolted out the door so I'd make it to work on time.
I didn't return home until about 9 PM. After settling in, I picked up my tablet to check on it and see if the update did the trick. Nope! It froze again before I could even launch an app. Frustrated, I put it back down and held the power button to force a reset. When the screen powered off, I walked away to check on something.
I returned to find that the tablet's green power light (which is normally steady on) was blinking rapidly. As in 20 blinks as second or so. The screen was flickering on for less than a second at a time in roughly one-minute intervals. And - most alarmingly - the unit was HOT. I tried to pick it up and burned my hand a little on the metal backplate.
After some back-and-forth texting with a friend for advice, I ultimately opened up the tablet in an attempt to disconnect the batteries. Turned out that they're soldered to the board, though, so I left the tablet open to give the hot components a chance to cool. I'm hoping that the batteries drain quickly.
I basically have no idea if the tablet can be fixed, and if so, I'm scratching my head over how. Anyone here have any ideas?
Last night I received the 4.0.3 update from Sony in Europe. After installing successfully everything was working perfectly.
I left it out overnight. I put to charge this morning while I was out (it was still working at this stage).
I came back at 6 o'clock and now it won't turn on. I've tried holding down power but nothing happens. It must be fully charged because it was at 70% when I plugged it in. The green light is still on but I can't even get to recovery, the screen is completely black.
What should I do? I'm somewhat experienced in flashing but if I can't even get the screen on then there's not much I can do.
Suggestions?
if this is all gone wrong due a official update it can't be fixed, this is certainly a software problem and it must be repaired by sony, i'm sorry to tell you this..
You could try to press the reset button with a needle or something under the volume buttons. don't know if this will help you but at least you could try
Good luck.
Ps: if you wil send it back to sony, it will take no longer then 10 day's.
YF,
Mahaco.
Thanks for your help. The issue resolved itself, don't know what was wrong.
They do lock up from time to time and you have to reset it with a pin in the reset hole.
I got the lockup myself. First time ever, but only a week after using ISC. I have used table S more than half a year already. So this is probably caused by ICS 4.0.3 upgrade. Not good. Reset helped.
tablet s not booting past sony logo
sony sending box.... hope they canot fix and I get a newer model. I even choose to reset to factory, just more lines of failed to mount and reboots back to sony logo

Have a pin handy when you go out with the tablet!lol
Has there been any word, whether official or not how this happens?
I'm curious if it has something to do with a specific app/wi-fi/push notifications.
I don't do anything crazy with my app. Basic web, books, games are pretty much it. I've had my tablet for about 3 months now and up until this weekend it never locked up. I've had to reset it twice now. I'm not gonna walk around with a paper clip so that I can reset my tablet and hope there's a fix for it in the works.

I got a similar bug. Every time i turn off my tablet S and i want to turn it back on, i have to wait for the battery to drain on the starting screen. thatn when it's drained i charge it and viola, It's working. Can anyone confirm this ?
Okay, so I got my Dad's old Motorola Fire XT530 recently. The thing is, he used the phone for around 2 weeks and then switched to a BlackBerry. He kept the phone switched off and locked up in his office bag. I fished it out yesterday and tried to switch it on, but it wouldn't even switch on. I connected it to the wall outlet and left out there for a while. The screen never turned on, but the lights on the soft keys below the screen did light up, so I assumed that it must be charging.
Anyway, after a while, I removed it from the outlet and switched it on, but it wouldn't boot up at all. Then I tried getting it into recovery and download mode, but it just wouldn't turn on at all. The device wasn't rooted, and I don't know what could have gone wrong that would make it like this.
I want to start developing for this device, seeing as there isn't even a decent ROM for this. I don't want to send it to the Motorola service centre; I have issues with them as it is.
Can anyone help me?
This is what the device looks like when plugged in.

I unfortunately hard bricked my VSD220 the other day while trying to upgrade the android system. Bit of a noobie at this and learnt the hardway. The problem I have now is that the unit powers on but i get a totally black screen and a small panel saying "waiting" this disappears and then after a minute or so the unit powers off.
I have tried a number of flash tools using ADB and the device is not located. I cannot get into boot mode on this device as it has only a power button.
Apart from using this as a fishing sinker is there any other flash tools I might be able to use to do a lazarus on this thing and bring it back from the dead?
When plugged into the PC and turned on it is not recognized.
I have tried the Nexus root tool kit and Odin but Odin cannot located the adb for the device. cheers.
Exactly same thing happened to me but I wasn't trying anything weird on it, It happened while doing a factory reset (from android settings) and it just went off in the middle of factory resetting so now the only thing that works is plugging in a HDMI input so it works as a TV but still shows the "waiting..." box for a while and then nothing.. I also connected it to the router lan port using a pc-to-router lan cable and I can see the send/receive lights blink for some seconds and then go off (both in tv and in router), lights blink again after about 30/40 secs.. so I'm guessing this is a bootloop restarting the android part and keeping the HDMI working?.
****ing vsd220 I hate it, if you are reading this, don't buy one. It will be VERY troublesome to me having to send it to retailer for warranty coverage because of my geographic location.. I will appreciate feedback on the subject
Also Matt57 did your screen come with a CD/DVD? I have read other samsung screen models being able to recover with a external usb-dvd-r device and the DVD included with the screen (a kind of boot recovery helper). If this one came with the cd I don't have it, so if you got one, please make an iso and upload.
