Hey guys,
I'm searching for a solution to swap external sd to internal. I had to break the internal storage to make a I9003 working again.
Now, it boots the ROM from the external (but that's an other story).
Camera needs storage0 (internal storage) to work properly for DCIM. But I have only storage1 (inserted microsd).
In 2.3.6 swap sd was possible by editing vold.fstab. In Kitkat the opportunity has been denied.
I search for a way to make storage1 to storage0 in CM11. Does anyone have an idea? Do you know whether CyanogenMod is working on it?
Thanks ^^
Still no idea?

Since android 4.3 there no longer exist "vold.fstab"
U need to modify build.prop
go to /system/build.prop (via root explorer for instance)
and change
persist.sys.vold.switchexternal=0
to
persist.sys.vold.switchexternal=1
save it and reboot the device it may help

My i9001 has still a build from 21.03. synced. It's unofficial. The steps are big, not like nightlies, and that's great ^^
The i9003 of the friend is in his apartment. The build for the i9003 has some bugs, so I'll wait.
But the others here can share their results with the newest builds
The i9003 has cm working on (the only available one for this device) and I have PA 4.3.
So cm-related infos are welcomed

Hi @rboy28, I'm facing pretty much the same issue as you on a Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 with damaged internal SD card.
I'm managed to install and run CyanogenMod 11 after physically taking the faulty chip out of the device, but I now need to make it use the external SD card as the internal one.
Have you had any luck ?

man why they have to keep changing stuff. i spent days on this issue.
this is why android is having difficulty capturing the market from iphones.
2017, and i also getting this same problem with GT-P1000..
remove damaged internal storage, installed KK resurrection remix ROM on external storage..
-camera error "no external storage"
-browser error "can't download, no external storage"
-UMS no response (it worked on gingerbread before)
tinkerin' for 6 days, slept only at 7AM..
my eyes hurt (almost cryin' desperately too) from searching n tryin' n so on..
if only there's an angel with master linux degree, kindly enough to ease our 'fellow-pity-ship' misery..
You're not the only one…
Hi,
I tried for month to resurrect a tablet having the same problem.
My latest findings pointed to modifying the equivalent of the /etc/fstab file in the boot partition/image, but no tool I could find was able to open/modify the ROM image…
I eventually gave up and returned the tablet to its owner.

You do realize the resolution of the s2 is 800x480?? So your 720p/1080p HD movies will play back at 800x480. Re-encode your movies thus solving your file size problem. All you're doing is wasting storage space having anything bigger than 800x480.

Sorry for Bump, But anyone have an idea? Its kind similar question...
Isnt a way that makes EVERYTHING install by default on External SD(The MicroSD card that you have in the Slot, not the internal storage of 10 gb) ???
Some script or dunno? NOT an apk/aplication, I remember I do that on my Motorola Milestone. I install the rom (.zip file on recovery) then i flash an .zip script that every app installs on the ext partition of the SD
Yea because, its so ****ing anoying install every app that you have, even i had all the apk, its annoyng install one by one, because are like 50 or more apps, nor incluiding games
so that was so ´perfect, in my milestone, i just sayd Nah fck this rom, cwm and bang flash another rom and all my apps where in the ext partition, and they were installed, loaded and ready to launch already
If someone had an idea about this on the i9100, tell me please!
Thax, Cya!
Hello
I have compiled miui with the xxkpq stock rom as base. I used the MiuiPatchRom on github. It boots but there are a lot of FC's and then it crashed. I will release a beta soon. So please be patient. I think i have enaught time to release the beta in one or two days.
Sry for my bad english.

MIUI XXKPQ 2.3.6 by ChaOS.ChriS
Changelog:
v.B0: (Current Release)
- Initial Release
v.B01
- added MIUI Bootanimation
- try to fix some fc´s and SystemUI by adding code from Noisyfox (seems not work :/ ... boots but all apps are fc and android.core crash´s every second)
v.B02
- rebase on v.b0
- try to merge code from i9000 patchrom and noisyfox´s patchrom (ypgb70)
- add progress step in installer script
- add new text output for "flashing"
Here is the first beta!
It Boots! but the most apps like kalender lockscreen settings etc are stock :/ dont know why and there is no statusbar. Uploading my Source tomorow
ROM ist broken ( not complete but boots )
Download ROM v.B0
Download Source Code
Flash instructions:
Flash in CWM
Dont worry that when you flash it Stucks a little time at "Mount and clean up system" i forget to add a New Text output in next build i fix that
I maked few changes and the the result was a bootloop :/ then i undo the changes and i got a bootloop so i think i need more time.
Edit: I think i know where the Problem is. I need a cwm flashable zip of the stockfirmware. I merge the content of the cm7 zip for the sgp4.0 and the factory.rfs from the xxkpq release but i think there is the Problem. I compile now the miuipatchrom with the cm7 as Base and try it. I tell you the result.
Edit2: I got a lot of erros while compiling the rom. I fixed the most of the errors but i cant compile the settings apk. I get many string warnings errors from aapt i try a clean build ....
Edit3: I fixed the erros in the Settings apk i know now where the problem is. I fix now the rest apks and compile it again

Sorry but what patch?
In my first port i used the MIUI from ypgb70 from noisyfox that was compiled with the patchrom too i used neodyniums patch pack ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719976 ) but its was not complete so i decide to Start my own port.
In that release i used the stock samung Rom xxkpq 2.3.6 and the official MIUI GB patchrom. There was some errors on compiling the settings.apk in the strings.xml but it was easy to fix that.
By the way i figured out the cwm Problem :/ its every time i Format /system With it. When i make a cleaning script that formats the system all is okay but when i manuelly Format it with cwm there are a lot of mounts problems and i must use a pit To restore
Edit: ah you mean your patch to comvert from SGS Tod SGP ? Yeah i used hat but that build dosent Boot and in this release i dont use that becoause i Start with the xxkpq from sgp

Hi everyone !
i have using a Samsung Galaxy S3 for one month now... and Cyanogenmod 9 for 2 weeks already.
I know about it since i have already been using Cyanogenmod for a year and a hlf on my previous phone.
My problem is very simple :
when i connect my phone to the computer, i have a screen asking me to choose a conexion type :
- MTP
- PTP
- UMS
the problem is that the last one (USB Mass Storage) is greyed out and i cannot choose it !!??
i have been searching xda forums without success about it...
My microSD is formatted in FAT32 (exFAT does not work with cyanogen)
My question now :
can anybody tell me if it works for him ? (galaxy s3 + CM9RC2 or nightly + FAT32 microSD + windows + UMS)
thanks a lot !
and thanks for the amazing work done by cyanogen team...
no answer ??
come on guys !

- cyanogenmod => best rom
so i am shure we are a lot using this config !

i think samsung may have done the most stupid mistake and remove kernel support, its not on stock firmware either
Try the SGS3 Easy UMS. Search XDA.
thanks for your answers, but :
- easy UMS is meant for stock roms and derivates... which is not the case regarding CM.
so if anybody using SGS3 + CM9 could check on his phone, please confirm me !
here is what it should look like :

but for me, third option is greyed... so i cannot select it...

No USB Mass-Storage is part of ICS, not Samsung phones.
It doesn't work for me either, maybe it's not supported yet?
I am running CM9 too and UMS works every now and then. ES File explorer seems to continuously scan the extsd though so sometimes it takes a couple of tries until it's mounted

well... in fact, according to what i've read, ICS does include UMS... but only for external SD cards...
Anyway, the fact that the option is visible in the usb share screen in cyanogen makes me think that it is/will be a part of CM.
therefore the question is :
- do my phone has a problem ?
- or is it a future option that CM team is currently developping ? (and yet not finished ?)
But Samusung definitely did not want us to get it...
PS : i just installed the latest nightly build of CM9 (android 4.0.4) on a galaxy S2 and i get UMS ! (through an 'android 2.3 style' usb share screen)

At least in CM10 Preview the kernel modules are present but it does not react to the commands.
It works just fine on my Galaxy SII (i777) running cm9. And it mounts both the internal and external SD cards in mass storage mode. However, I have a galaxy tab 10.1 that the option is also grayed out on. I am guessing each device has different drivers associated with UMS which may be why it isn't working on all devices yet. But, it definitely is not a problem in CM9... More the device it sits on.

Hi,
I'll just add my two cents, (remember to have nandroid backups before you do this)
I managed to dualboot efficiently using this method described earlier, what is required is Siyah Kernel (as far as I know the only one that supports dualboot), Temasek's CM10.1 based, Omega 35, CWM based recovery (I use CWM 6.0.1.2, but you need at some point the one with Siyah).
Why Temasek's? Because he disabled multiuser in his build that is mainly the problem with the 0/1/2 etc. folders and it's a superb ROM, you will love it once you use it, he also has a Kernel (with the Exynos fix...)..... Why Omega?, well if you need to ask then stop reading ASAP.
The clue is to first setup Omega as 1st ROM, this is simply done by installing it via CWM (v. 6.0.1.2, fully tested), you can boot it to see that it installed properly.
Then you need to install Siyah kernel (it's not included in Omega), if you don't find the Stweaks app (inside the app drawer) when you boot the phone, go to Play Store and install it.
From Stweaks you go to the dualboot tab and select the boot into recovery (not hijack).
Inside Siyah's recovery you now need to place Omega into 2nd ROM, how? Go to the last option into the dualboot menu, there you have several options but you need either swap (if you had a working 2nd rom) or CLONE 1st rom to 2nd rom. This process is lengthy, you wait, then to test you reboot and select 2nd ROM, it should work, if by any chance you don't know that you are in second rom, simply go to stweaks and from the dualboot tab select boot into second rom, then mate, you are in 2nd ROM.
Boot into recovery (not necessary siyah recovery, cwm 6.0.1.2 touch will do)
Install Temasek's CM10.1 based, (as a normal 1st rom install), One thing is very important, OBSERVE all the rom installation advisories, particularly to full wipe (format system, data, cache, dalvik cache, etc.) before you install cm10.1 (it's not samsung based). Then you install CM10.1 (another warning is the problem with 64gb cards formatted other than FAT32 that may have problems... so please, avoid other formats specially ExFAT).
Reboot the phone (should take you into CM10.1) and you configure it and play with it and then at some point you need to install Siyah again (cause it disappeared with CM10.1 install) from wherever you want CWM (is easier) or Odin if you are confident with .TAR...
When you have installed Siyah you should be able to select which ROM to boot and BOTH are working, Omega as 2nd and Temasek's as 1st.
You can merge other stuff like superwipe but I feel it's unnecessary if you do a full wipe before installing CM10.1
Good luck, and share your experience here.
NOTE: I had triple booted efficiently with MIUI (third/second), Omega (Second) and Temasek's (1st) but it requires the triple boot utility and better to first get dualboot working.
IF YOU DUAL(TRIPLE)BOOT ANY OF THIS ROMS AND KERNEL PLEASE THANK THEIR DEVELOPERS IN THEIR OPs, it shows your gratefulness and it's a small reward for them and their time. Of course if you can donate to them or their causes in their name that will encourage development.
Happy New Year Everyone
very nice post dear fellow !
i knew you`re a good man ! i`ll try ASAP your method and i`ll share my feedback !
thank you ! :good:
well people seems to deal easily with Android 4.2.1 / CM 10.1 , haven`t` noticed too many difficulties among users to manage with sdcard 0 issue but still i want to share my experience .
i flashed temasek Rom to have a look into the last cm 10.1 features and i was real impressed.
but because my dly driver is the one from my sig i just flashed the new update of CodecRom 10.2 , an AOSP rom
the flashing steps i followed were the same as usual , full wipe of data/factory reset , cache and dalvik , from advanced format data/cache/system/preload .
you don`t have to be worried about sdcard 0 presence , is just an emulated image of your internal sd card . after cm 10.1 you can flash any other rom as usual. you will get rid of it after you flash another rom.
the new rom wont be present into sdcard 0 .
when your setings are done , you can delete it.
-=-=-=-
1- be sure you`ve got enough space on you internal sdcard to transfer your file from 0 to internal .
some of them can be moved temporary on the internal sd or on your PC, like pics , backups , ...
2- for safety do not move or cut files , use copy , when is done you can delete them
3- take a small amount of files , not all of them , for safety as well
4- this operation can be performed through TWRP recovery or via file manager . my favourite one is solid explorer , fresh purchased from market.
5- identify the folders sdcard0 and 0 . sdcard0 contains sdcard0/0
6- start moving the files . overwrite or merge them
7- when ready you can delete sdcard0/0
8- from TWRP is it possible but from a file manager not due to a file protection . in this situation you must navigate to root/data/media and you`ll see the folder 0 and kick it off
9- put all your files back in place (backups , dcim , music ... )
10- you`re done ! i will suggest to re-flash the rom now to be sure that everything will work fine . 0 folder is gone !
some pics below
-=-=-=-
any suggestions/opinions are welcome !

It work like this :
You have cm10 and Sammy 》》 keep the 0 folder if only you will update the roms you've got without wipe
You want to want to keep cm10 but you need another Sammy 》》keep the 0 folder , from dual boot recovery you can wipe second rom so don't need to delete 0
You want to wipe the cm10 and to put another rom either cm or Sammy 》》 you will get a new 0 folder inside of the first one so after flash you must move everything from sdcard 0/0 to sdcard 0 and delete the 0
Is damn complicated, i know ...

OMG yes it is damn complicated!!! LoL
So i think i'll do in this way:
I keep "0" folder..i will change roms as always...if i want to delete this damn "0" folder, i will simply do a deep clean 1....unless i understand your procedure
But i haven't understood: the "0" folder needs just for 4.2.x roms??
So if i have 2 sammy or sammy+cm10 i won't have it?

Yes 0 folder is for 4 2.x builds . As soon as you'll flash it you'll have it.
You can't have cm10 as secondary, yet, I've heard that ghockan is working on it though.
For one or two Sammy roms you don't need 0 folder. Is only for 4.2.x (cm10) roms

Use solid explorer to understand better how your sdcard is .
Has a very nice and simple to use interface

Reodex your KitKat from CWM
Script work only for S3 mini
Unpack zip to PC
Reboot to CWM
Plug in USB to PC
Go to Mounts and Storage
- mount /system
- mount /data
Start odex.cmd from PC
Wait it finish
Reboot your phone
What is Reodex? Thanks in advance.

Reodexing
Reodexing is creating *.odex files on deodex'ed ROM
About differences between odex'ed and deodex'ed roms you can read for example here
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-odex-and-deodex-in-android-complete-guide/
Great. Thanks again.

That means that the odex.zip only use for devs. I have an deodexed ROM, also I don't need this.

Another explanation is this:
If you odex the rom, you'll have also more space in data (this is important because if you don't have partition ext4 in sdcard, you won't have too free space), increase battery life, more stability and increase perfomance( the Rom is more faster to load system and app) but you can't modifie apk after odex (you can't mod program with classes.dex).
Infact ODEX is an OPTIMIZED-DEX and Android load system and app faster than deodexed (DEOPTIMIZED-DEX) app and system.
When you have a deodex file (a lot of roms are deodexed) you have File.apk in system/app and in data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]@[email protected], but with odex file you have File.apk in system/app and File.odex in system/app
With these explanation you can understand that:
Odexed Rom = +fast -difficult_customization +more_battery_life +better_stability +less_ram_utilization
Deodexed Rom = -slow +customization -less_battery_life -less_stability -worse_ram_manager
does it only work for 4.4 or for stock 4.1.2 too?
for stock use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527268
I'm at Maclaws Carbon 4.4.2... so it should work.
What will be with my theme (cobalt) and with black carbon? Will that be kept?

I tried this with maclaws carbon 4.4.2 and TWPR. But when execute .cmd there is errors "device not found". So how to make mounts?

I did not try yet... scared a little - and looking for a way to make my theme.apk to theme.zip to flash. Anyway, did you boot your device into recovery befor conecting? As written in OP you should mount system and data from there.
The drivers needed you should have, cause you are alresdy at carbon...

Perhaps because of Maclaws TWRP... Try with CWM, I'm pretty sure it is to find at google...
Edit: You need to install Rom Manager to download cwm...
