stock jelly for i9100G - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
what is the best stock rom for i9100G ?
jelly bean ?
france or indian or ................???????

up up up

You didn't get a response because stock roms of the same Android version are essentially the same, except for different bloat for different carriers, minor kernel differences and different modems. You don't see major differences until you're talking about different Android versions.
Try them yourself & see if you find any difference.

[Q] What does it all mean??

I posted this on the wrong forum and was directed to post it here. I'm not new to the Custom ROM scene, having come from my HTC Desire. However, the SGS2 is my first Samsung product, and hence a few of the terms are rather confusing to me, and I hope this'll help somebody else as well besides me.
1. Why are there so many different kernels? KF1? KF2? XXKF1? XXKF2? What're the differences? Can I flash a KF1 kernel into a phone that already has KF2?
2. What's the difference between an i9100 and an i9100T? Can I flash a kernel designed for an i9100 into an i9100T phone?
3. What do the different shipped modems mean (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...hp?t=1131950)? How are they relevant when I'm choosing which ROM to flash into my phone?
4. What's a HIDSWVER and why are we collecting it (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...hp?t=1089874)?

Ask Samsung release 1 2 3 4 . KF1 before KF3 etc
Yes you can flash an older kernel over a later kernel .
A kernel is not full firmware just the kernel .
2. What's the difference between an i9100 and an i9100T? Can I flash a kernel designed for an i9100 into an i9100T phone?
NOT UNLESS IT SPECIFICALLY SAYS SO .
3. What do the different shipped modems mean (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...hp?t=1131950)? How are they relevant when I'm choosing which ROM to flash into my phone?
You get a modem with firmware different versions different parts of the world .
Shipped modems posts is putting individual modems all in one place .
Relevance is not required unless you want to try different modems with firmware .
4. What's a HIDSWVER and why are we collecting it (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...hp?t=1089874)?

[Q] Differences in firmwares ?

Hi,
I'm new to android, and for the past few days I've been reading a lot form this forum to get some idea.
I've noticed that there are many different firmware versions (almost as if each country & each custom ROM has a different one), e.g. my phone is XXBLH1, my country's (Israel) standard ROM is JKBLH3, and there are many more such as XXBLG8, XXBLFB etc.
As far as i understood there should be no problem flashing a different one for my phone when changing ROMs. But still what are the differences between them, why are there do many? Is there any restrictions on which are compatible to change mine, for example, JKBLH3 is ok but XXBLFB is not? If so, is there a way to know this from the version code itself, meaning everything starts with 'J' is not for you?
Thanks in advance for your replies,
Dan

that's a very good question, I never understood that either, I think those letters differ from country and from modem version in the specific country.
Also I don't think that is a problem to flash other official ROMS, because I have a S3 that was with branded firmware from the operator and I flashed it with official international unbranded firmware for my phone model (GT-I9300) and it works pretty nice
Also another question I will be capable to receive updates from samsung with my official ROM right? thanks
These codes are used to differentiate between different regions.. All the firmwares are almost the same except small region specific customizations.. Some apps would work for some regions some might not..Also there are some region specific customizations such as language..
You can install any firmware made for international galaxy S3 without any major problems..

Hi!
As what i know, there are a lot of firmwares out there because they differ in their unit. Let'e take for example, a korean S3, they cannot take in an I9300 firmware because of the regional basis and their "specifications"..
Also, firmwares differ also in ways such as updates.. let's say firmware X was released last June but it lags so bad.. so sammy release firmware Y.. something like that
I hope this could help you.. this is the simplest explanation my brain could process

just to add, firmware variants may also be due to the legal implication of particular countrries and/or regions as we saw several small updates rolled out a few months ago due to the "search for all" function in which Samsung and Apple had conflict in within the courts...however, such updates were not applied to the NZ firmware as far as I am aware...also...since OP is from Israel, there are also variations in the keyboard that are available...examples such as chinese input method differs between Taiwan firmwares and China firmwares eventhough both countries speak chinese lol...

[Q] Flashing CSC, from different android version

so as the title states. i have ICS 4.0.4 for my I9100G but i would like to try a different CSC. there are only 2 available at the moment, Chinese and German. i dont exactly like the German one. so i was wondering if it is going to do any harm to flash a CSC from an android version 4.0.3?
currently i am in the process of extracting different CSC's for my phone from SamMobile

[Q] i9300 - What's really the newest Firmware?

Hi guys,
I know this is probably one of the 'already answered' questions, but I don't know what to look for to find the answer as well.
For the Galaxy S3 there are many builds of the Firmware for different countries, so much I understand.
When the Premium Feature pack was rolled out I decided to flash the UK XXELLA version. Since then several other builds of 4.1.2 emerged for different countries.
So my question is, am I on the 'newest' version, when I just stick to my XXELLA or should I rather go for XXEMB2 for example? Is there any thread that simply points to the best stock firmware to currently flash?
Thanks for your help!

different countries, different firmware codes, you can find the most current firmware with highest changelist in the General section's thread that lists all firmwares.

GT-I9100T Firmware Request

Hi guys, i want a firmware or custom rom for galaxy gt-i9100t, if there is any rom after 4.1.2 ! , also i have a question: the normal rom for g-ti9100 could be installed on gt-i9100t !!?
There isn't any stock firmware >4.1.2. Yes, you can flash I9100 stock roms on the I9100T, but you may have to use a modem from an I9100T rom if you're using the phone on a network belonging to a carrier who sold the I9100T.
okay 10x for help, i'm so greatfull
What about a i9100 custom rom?! Can i use it to i9100t !?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Yes, of course. the I9100 & I9100T (I also have an I9100T) are exactly the same except for a very slight difference in radio output, achieved by firmware - the modem.
If you flash an I9100 stock rom, it will include an I9100 modem which might (not always though) mess with your connectivity, and as I hinted at in my PP, in my experience, using modems which have been bundled with stock roms released by carriers which sold the I9100T tends to result in the best connectivity. You can check these by searching the I9100T firmwares on Samfirmware, which lists the baseband (modem), and you can then find/download whatever modem in question here.
However, if after flashing an I9100 stock rom your connectivity is OK, no need to change the modem. Only change the modem if your connectivity isn't great. Custom roms don't include modems, so flashing a custom rom won't change your current modem.
i got it, thank you very much for your help and your notes about the modem thing :good: .
