So a long while back when I was hacking my phone, I was using MAGLDR, I installed something else yet I can't recall it. The screen went white and that wouldn't turn on anymore. I charge it, yet, when I turn it on, I hear a very faint buzz and that's all. I dont't remember much on the stuff I did or anything else and I pretty much gave up on this phone for years but now I really it and I want to use this phone than all this new ones. Could any one help me in this situation?

I guess you have tried getting to 3 colors screen? And when you turn it on only a buzz comes out, nothing else? like the HTC logo, boot screen?

Got a good deal on a used Eris, the ebay description said that it was stuck on the boot screen, and that the verizon rep told him that it was because he didn't upgrade to the new os, so he bought a new phone. I get the phone, flash the new update to it and all goes well.
Well, turns out that it's not the os that was the problem, the digitizer screen isn't responding, at all. The phone boots up and everything looks like it's working. It gets to the lock screen, and this is where I'm stuck. Since the screen doesn't respond to any touches, I can't unlock it and try anything out. Is there a way to get it to boot to a screen other than the lock screen? I just want to test it out to make sure it's the digitizer and not something else.
So I'm wondering, do the digitizers fail like this often, just stop working? I opened it up and checked all of the connectors, nothing loose. I got such a good deal that getting a new digitizer for it is still an option, I just want to make sure that that's what the problem is.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Dale.

Some roms allow you to unlock using the menu key, once in you could use the trackball, use a sense rom those i think allow unlock with the menu key. Good luck!
I just brought my new archos 101 home from the post office. Turned it on, set it up and then the LCD crapped out.
It is displaying like 8 colours and is really dark.
The TV Out seems to work ok via the HMDI cable but the actual LCD is like the display driver didn't load or something (reminds me of what used to happen when you put a new video card in windows 98).
Anyone who has an archos seen this? Please tell me it's not DOA because I will likely kill someone.
Since the forums think I am spamming because I am trying to post a link you will have to copy/paste.
mcmonkey.net/img/misc/archos_screen.jpg
never heared about that before.
but it looks like inverted. ( donĀ“t know the right word)
can be driver. have you tried a reset? >press power button for 10 seconds<
hope this helps.

Looks pretty dead to me. Like squirlier said... reboot.
If the splash screen is the same as the screenshot, then (I reckon) you can be pretty sure it's dead. If it's not but it dies again while inside android, you could try flash the firmware again.
Never come across anything like this before though, so I am only working of guesses.
The splash screen is all white background with black text and a blue "your".
Will try the reboot when I get home from work in the morning.
Not looking forward to sending it back since I only just got it.
Did a reboot, no luck. Still the same problem as before.
Guess it is time to contact archos.
Looks like a loose connection to me. But I wouldn't recommend voiding your warranty to crack it open and check it out. Better to send it back.
Well it's officially dead.
Sent an email to archos and they have responded by telling me to ship it back to them.
MY screen backlight will not turn off. It goes from dim to bright, every few seconds. I cannot get it to turn completely off either, when i hit the endcall key the screen goes black then it comes right back on by itslef. I have no programs running in the background. I have soft reset the phone, even taking the battery out. The screen goes off fine while charging. I have also tried cleanRAM on level 3, with no sucess. I dont have any special ROM, just CHT2 and various mods. Any help please!
I know you probably do not want to hear this, but if you have checked your display settings and the are all good. Then it is probably time for a hard reset.
yea, i was starting to mentally prepare for that now. the problem is seeming to "chill out" alittle. its not doing it as bad as it was yesterday. i thought it fixed itself for awhile today, then it started doing it again. it drains my battery so fast when that happens. its like a pulsing from dim to bright until i push any button or on the screen. thanks for your help. if you think of anything else let me know.

If a hard reset didn't help you, then you have a hardware issue for sure.
i've noticed on mine, if it starts acting up. I put it on the charger for a sec. then it acts normal after i disconnect it. Do you think this could be from water damage? I havent gotten any water on my phone that i know of, though.

Kinda sounds like you may not be getting correct voltage to your screen or out of your battery. I say this cause you mentioned plugging in your charger helps for a little while. Have you had a good look at your battery pins on your HD2?
There is nothing wrong with pins...Today my phone work better....But still sometimes keep screen on...what a mystery...
did a hard reset, nothing changed. called tmobile, got a replacement coming, no charge. guess thats the only way.

You can remove HSPL and revert it back to SPL by using the HSPL utility, remember it asked which version you want to install. Just click on the link in my sig for HSPL. and download it. Then rum the utility and select the correct SPL version for your current ROM.
Or flash the stock ROM for your HD2 via SD card. Go to the link below to learn how.

I'm brand new to HTC devices so I'm unsure if the dialer is sense or if this is a ICS dialer were dealing with. (My old phone was a Droidx, so my exp is with blur and asop 2.3 from liberty).
Either way though i seem to have come across an interesting "bug" or at least unusual behavior.
I've noticed on almost every other call, weather it's incoming or outgoing, the MOMENT you dial/answer the screen goes dark. Now i can press the power button to wake it up again and it will stay on for exactly 5 seconds before going dark again. If i flip on speaker phone the screen will stay on, however the moment i turn off speaker phone it goes dark again.
Whats really annoying is if i go back to the home screen it still goes dark after 5 seconds but now when i wake it up it's at the lock screen. If i try to unlock it the moment i touch the screen it goes dark. No matter where i touch the screen the phone is now perma locked until the call is finished.
Now like i said this happens every other call so far in the 6 times I've tested this, which i thought was really odd. The other times the screen stays on and acts completely normal no matter what i do while a call is active. Fresh reboot makes no difference. I haven't done a factory reset yet as I'm trying avoid that.
What i have done so far is unlocked the bootloader, Flashed recovery, and the root from con247's thread in the dev section. I don't think that has anything to do with it though since i noticed the screen going black during a call before i started messing with bootloaders/recovery/root. I just didn't test it as well before doing those things cuz i didn't think anything of it.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior and does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like the proximity sensor is going wonky. You might try a factory reset and without installing anything else see if you get the same issue. Also, make sure that any programs you have installed are not affecting it for some reason.

Just factory reset it, skipped setup completely and started making calls, same issue. You maybe right about the sensor though. The first call acted up like i explained. The second call the screen was staying on like i expected, but once i switched speaker phone off and then back on the screen shut off and started acting like call one again.
I just got this phone 6 hours ago i wonder how hard it will be to convince verizon there's a hardware fault. I guess i'd better unroot it and remove recovery so i can call in the morning.

I just wanted to make sure i understand this before i do it.
To remove the root i need to install the RUU for the phone, which i found at http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?13550-Asian-Shooter-goes-ICS-and-a-VZW-Fireball-RUU (second link i assume).
I haven't downloaded it yet, but it's an exe. Will it flash the phone via USB, or does it just extract something i can use recovery to flash with?
Once i get the root removed i just need to flash back the original recovery and i should be good to go right?

There are directions in the RUU that will explain all of the steps. You will connect your phone with the USB cable.
It shouldn't be to hard to convince them. Just show them the steps you did to reproduce the issue. Good luck.
On the phone right now and the guy is setting up overnight sat delivery to my house. We are a fairly large business account so i'm glad they are going that extra mile.
Just to note I've noticed the sensor doesn't shut off after a call is complete. In fact it stayed on last night for around 6 hours before finally turning off. I did another test this morning and once again the sensor is stuck on, so good call. Thanks so much for your help, i never would have thought sensor, it seemed like a software issue to me!

Hey,
I'm new to these kinds of things like forums and stuff like that, so sorry if I'm not that clear with what I'm saying. If I could also get some criticism on the post itself and how I can improve, it'd be a great help!
I've had this phone since November of 2013 and this is my first time encountering this problem. After getting home from school, I took my phone out of my backpack and tried waking it(simply pressing the power button so I could see the lock screen), then I noticed nothing would happen. I tried again and again then noticed that the 3 "buttons" at the bottom of my phone were lighting up when I unlocked it, and disappear when locking it. Once I unlocked it, I was able to turn the volume higher and lower, listen to music(because I remember what the layout looks like before it had a black screen), and even (somewhat) use apps. Every time I hear my phone ring, it really makes me want to punch it, because I know that the phone itself is working, but just the screen won't turn on. Like even when I registered for xda-developers, my phone rang once I got the e-mail to verify my account.
I looked at a bunch of other threads before creating this one. Some said to hold down Power Button, Volume +, and Volume - for 30-60 seconds. I tried doing this multiple times, each time holding down the buttons a different amount of seconds, and nothing happened. I let the 3 icons at the bottom blink 15 times, wait a few seconds, let it vibrate, then let go. The longer I held the buttons, the more it would vibrate(about one vibrate for every 15 seconds). I hear the sound effects when turning it on and off("Droid" in the robot voice, then followed by some weird robot-sounding noises). Some people just said to let it charge, and I also tried that. Nothing happened, really, it just charged.
I've been thinking of letting the battery die out, but who wouldn't think of that? So I just ditched that idea. Tell me if I should try it, though, please.
My phone's pretty beat up, but nothing to the point where some parts of the screen would stop working, just two pretty big cracks on it. Sorry, I can't post pictures 'cause I'm new > <
If you guys could help me out with this, or just tell me if it doesn't work at all, it'd be a great help.
Thanks,
Joseph

That sounds pretty simple. Would I need to replace it, get a new phone, or fix it myself at home?

I would replace the screen. Whether or not you want to do it yourself depends on your confidence, experience, and tools. If you've never torn a phone apart before, then you might want to find a friend who is handy or go to a shop because HTCs, in general, are not the easiest things to start with. And you'll definitely want to buy the already pre-assembled LCD+Digitizer combo as trying to separate the 2 would be more hassle than it is worth.
