Hi guys, I've been using z2 now for 5 days and I've noticed that I have two black lines on my screen so I removed the screen protector to see if the lines are on the screen and they weren't, so I've put on a new screen protector and after a day those lines came back on the exact same place, weird is that they get thinner and thick again, it's really weird and annoying does somebody know what it could be?

hi
I have some scratchs on my screen and I am looking for a replacement digtizer.
I found several on ebay,
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=xp...+screen&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
Have anyone replaced the digitizer or know if this are original?
Thanks!
Did you remove the factory screen protector for some reason and not replace it? Or did your phone not come with a factory screen protector?

Hi
I removed the factory screen protector. when I got a couple of scratches I applied a new protector.
But the few scratches I have are ittitating me!!!!
Hi, I recently changed my digitizer. Put on a black one on my white phone. They are all real, I have not seen any fakes around. I also bought mine off of ebay.
--duplicate--
I wish one of these ebay listings gave a part number or model number for the digitizer... for obvious reasons.

Is this digitizer is the same part i need to change when my screen gets cracked ?
The story is my phone fell down and the screen got cracked and kinda ink appeared around the line of crack..
I was really wandering which part to change since the touch was working fine..
sent from my x10i that is banging for a 2.1 upgrade. ...

Hey Mezo,
The digitizer is factory glued with the top glass and is considered one piece since you can't separate the two. The LCD is separate from the digitizer. If your LCD is cracked, then your display will be distorted with lines across the screen. If your top glass is cracked, then your digitizer will still work since the digitizer is not as fragile as the top glass. So the question is, is the top glass cracked? Is the LCD display cracked as well? I know your digitizer will still be functioning but you might want to consider buying a new one as for the cracks may be unappealing and annoying.
I simply broke the top glass and I did not like the crack spanning across my screen so I got myself a new one.
If your LCD is damaged then you need to buy a new LCD which is not cheap... (over $100).
@trojjanhorse
the top layer which i touch is functional, so that means i have broken the LCD ?
i appreciate if you have a look on them i attached some pic, i hope they are clear enough since i took them with 3mp cam
thanks for the help in advance, i don't know much about mobile displays

Most likely you have broken the LCD. When dark pixels appear like that, it usually means that you've directly struck the LCD itself and damaged that area.
It was a thin line at first then some Ink started to flow and became bigger the next day.
So its the LCD?
should I fix it at the service center or i can replace it myself?
sent from my x10i that is banging for a 2.1 upgrade. ...
You can, in theory, fix it yourself but it'll be a biatch of a job. Use the X10 undressing post to find out how to actually take it to bits...
Then put the new LCD in.
only issue is finding somewhere that sells them... I don't know if they're a generic 854x480 lcd or what so...
To change LCD is very simple, but to change the digitizer is suicide. You will need to get a new LCD. I would buy one off of ebay and install it myself. I've been fixing phones for 2 years now so I had my share of experience but it may be difficult for you. The black liquid is due to the fact that LCD stands for "Liquid" Crystal Display
Good luck.
Today I received a screen protector in the mail (came free with a case), so I decided to change out the old one that came pre installed on the X10. Of course once everything was removed and when I started to apply the new one, all of the dust in the house was magically attracted to the new one, rendering it useless.
I'm now stuck without a screen protector, and have growing paranoia that my screen is going to get messed up. Looks like I'll have to order a new one.
Until then, does anyone have an X10 with the protector removed? Has your screen scratched after extended normal use?
I'll probably be stuck without one for a week so I hope it lasts.
Truth : I suspect you won't have much success, if any, finding someone who's successfully scratched their X10 screen. There is one user however, who's succeeded in cracking the screen -- I remember having read a thread about it

Well you've got at least two now, momerbk and gavriel18 on another thread has stated his is "mashed" now due to not having one, so I'd get one on asap.
Not forgetting the guy who's was run over, that was pretty scratched
I've gotten some minor scratches but they are very hard to see... and from my personal tests the X10 screen hides scratches better then the Dell Streak

Rofl, I saw that one as well, although it doesn't really fit into my "normal use" category
I'm pretty careful with my stuff, I'll just have to avoid buses until I get a new screen protector lol.
This thread is somewhat putting me at ease though!
Semi related: Are there any scratch test videos for the X10?
Multiple scratches and a chip. Still don't know how I managed that...
haha lol. I scratched mine within 3 weeks ... I have now one big scratch and a few little scratches blegh.
Are you guys sure you really scratched the glass or is it just the original screen protector? The original screen protector scratches very easily. That is why I removed mine and replaced it with something better.
mine is still mint, I work in bean processing plant(dusty), spend most of my days off at the beach with the kids. That's no proof that it won't get scratched one day but I doubt it will make people think less of me if i have a scratch on my screen

I'm pretty sure they all have them stock. Take a closer look at the lower part of the screen near the buttons. You should be able to see it there. it is an exact fit protector so it's almost impossible to see that it's there.

Hmm it does look that way, although I can't seem to get it if it's is one) off
Another quick question:
I've heard that some of the better screen protectors can actually hide previous scratches once they are applied, is that actually true?
I've ordered both the clear coat screen protector and also that free stealthguard protection thing, so I'm hoping that one of those will be sufficient

I put one of the free stealthguards on mine Saturday. I only used he screen guard not the full body though. It was a little difficult to get the oem screen protector off but only until you get it started. Once it starts peeling it comes off fairly easy.
i have my phone in a leather case without a screen protecter, never been a fan of them and my screen is immaculate... so far it is only almost 3 weeks old though

wow just found it, i never noticed it LOL, it's a thick screen protector, sometimes when texting i noticed the phone sometimes missed keys wonder if it was because of the protector.
so can anyone confirm that there phone has been scratched without the OEM protector?
I think that extra thick shield is supposed to act as a "shatter resistant protector" so that if you do happen to smash the glass you don't get shards and splinters everywhere. It is much thicker than any screen protector i've seen before and taking it off will ruin it.
I took my oem one off and now have a deep scratch , not a clue how I did it. If I could go back I would definitely use protection lol. They may not be as pretty as the bare screen but they work.
I had my xperia S for about 2 weeks, i really dislike how much glare that it gives off with the stock screen protector. So i already some anti-glare screen protector online.
problem: can't get it off.
I have been picking at this for 15 mins, can't get anywhere. It would come off.
does anyone tips on how i can remove this???

Trust me, you have to destroy most of your fingernails..
Insist on one corner only, don't use sharp things such as knifes etc. you could scratch the screen.

would blow dryer make it easier?
When I removed mine from the arc I followed some advice and used a needle to pick at a corner. This did it straight away after many failed attempts with my nails. Just be careful you don't scratch the screen underneath but you should be fine.
However like I said in another thread I wouldn't recommend it, I think you should not see the factory applied screen protector as a screnn protector but rather part of the screen. It is applied perfectly and no matter how hard you try doing it yourself, you'll never manage to apply one as well...
Also on my arc I never actually notice that much difference in glare...
If you choose to stick a protector on it, I wrote this guild on the best way (imo) to apply a protector, enjoy!

Hi SGS2 people. Im in Australia and bought an i9100 a month or so after it launched, I've looked after mine well,no scratches, water damage, drops but for the past week it has been streaking up on the screen so frequently,I keep grabbing towels, using my shirt,a tissue etc to wipe oil off but normal skin oils are making coloured streak lines/shimmery patterns/blurry spots.
is it possible to wipe the coating off in time and are there ways to recoat without putting on screen protectors?

instead of taking the pain of searching for a recoat option, i would suggest u to put a good screen gaurd which can take care of ur screen for some months for sure
Happens all the time with people who have oily skin (like me )
Use a screen protector and you can keep wiping off the oil without worrying about the oleophobic layer...

Thanks for the responses guys, I should clarify, Im wondering if this is something that happens to the SGS2 screen over time,I do not have oily skin, this has only been happening for around 2 weeks and yep, I know a screen protector will remove the problem - its a build quality/usability question, has anyone else had this problem with their screen?

I have the same problem nowadays. When I bought my phone 3 months ago I can't remember having the need to wipe the screen ever. But now, everytime I touch the screen it leaves greasy, coloured lines and fingerprints behind. Annoying. I'm constantly wiping the screen with towels and my shirt, and it doesn't help (at least not for very long time). It has to have something to do with wearing. Is a screen protector the only solution?

Did you bought it brand new? Did you change the crystal display before?

Bought it brand new when I wipe it a few times with micro fiber cloth it disappears completely and after a while it reappears. Never changed screen or anything have the phone like a week now.
There is a coating on the glass that wears off in time. You're just seeing the damage from your oily fingers
Thanks I tried wiping it off again, and i had a note 4 screen protector lying around I placed that on my screen until i get the s9+ one i ordered and it does not come back anymore. Weird though the clicking noise I was hearing when wiping the screen seems to be gone with the screen protector as well.
