Alright everyone of us is waiting for the release of Android 4.4.2 for our device. But does anyone knows if this firmware update, changes the bootloader and adds Knox compatibility? Like Knox warranty 0x0 or something like that that s4 and note 3 has?
Use the sticky thread for discussion of 4.4, it's only vapourware for the i9300 so don't hold your breath.

OK and if I have previously rooted Mt phone, when I was on Android 4.3 without Knox, and then used triangle away, and restored my phone to official, and applied the firmware update to 4.4 Will I have any issue with Knox?
Thanks in advance

Maybe we get Knox , but not with that 0x0 thing , its eFuse which s3 dosent have.

Knox doesn't use eFuse.
We're not getting 4.4 so no need to worry about it.
First, already Samsung Galaxy s3 sprint got kitkat and it's very unlikely for us not to receive the kitkat. Second, I don't mean the Knox application,,but the bootloader, I know about efuse but I'm not sure about something. For example if Samsung was sure that they will develop later a software like Knox and had put efuse inside the s3, but inactive until this update,?

The sprint s3 has different hardware, the i9300 won't be getting official 4.4. Don't see what the fuss is about, having used 4.4 on the s4 I was only impressed by how many things didn't work, like flash and any apps that use the external sd.

Yes it is,
ME7 did not include the knox warranty void flag for some reason on Verizon.
The new boot loader associated with this OTA does.
My phone still shows 0x0 even though it's rooted.
But knox warranty efuse exists with this boot loader.
Stay away......
Why would I care about knox if I'm not doing anything corporate?

I've been checking for updates all day to download KitKat, but it says I already have the most up to date software.
How long will it take Microsoft to release KitKat 4.4 for my Verizon S4. I can't believe they're so late with this update.
</sarcasm off>
i've looked through this entire thread and I cant find anyone with my problem so I thought id ask. Will I lose root if I take the update? How many roms are available for the new update? Almost none?! What?! Ridiculous! Oh well whatever i'll just go downgrade, its not like we dont have an odin image or anything ya noobs!
lol - had to add before this thread gets locked
I have a unlocked bootloader because I have MDK....
I have an idea for an unlocked bootloader, find a way to x y and z. "Sorry I have no experience".

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I got kit kat on my S4 today! Not what I expected. Disappointed in the screen saturation so I wiped it and all is good again.
Microsoft can be slow at sending updates some times. Be patient, kitkat will come.

It is indeed real. I just wonder when we will start seeing it and it's new features on our phones. It's nice that it will bring some continuity to the phones, as it can run on both low and high end devices. Perhaps eventually the OS fragmentation will be a problem of the past for Android.
Ok. Ok. I want to stay on mdk and get kitkat! Can I get an eta on when roms will come out. if they don't come out by tomorrow I'll just update anyway!

Oh guys I unlocked the bootloader you just have to safe strap kitkat to your s-off and it will jump the Odin and your bootloader will be unlocked. Confirmed this on my cat's S4 as well.

Or you could always try out one of the AOSP Kitkat ROMs, available in the original development section. They're pretty darn stable, and can certainly be used as DDs.

If you read this post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601067, the 4.4.2 leak is for the international S4 ONLY, not any of the North American variants yet.
Your S4 is probably soft-bricked right now, which is nobody's fault but your own.

Sounds quite reasonable.
Following Samsung OTA's for a long time across 3 phones and almost 6 years.. seems they connect some of the major OTAs to release of new product. Since the S5 is getting close could it be tied to that event? Betting Verizon's S5 won't be first on the release list for US carriers either.
OTA of 4.4 for the S4 prior to the S5 release just doesn't sound like a starter. It would be a nice surprise though....

You could always run an INT 4.4 ROM that has the boot loader removed and Loki-Doki the thing. I am running 4.4.2 A TW ROM on my S4
Heres how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674846
Hi guys, I recently flashed a 4.3 official ROM and all of a sudden had aquired Samsung Knox, now although this will not get rid of theknox count in download mode it will allow you to disable Knox and continue to use it in a normal way without it interferring with apps asking for super user status. If you have super SU then open it up and it should detect you have knox installed, it will then ask if you want to disable it, hit yes and let the app do its work.....................that should sort you out, it did me on a gt-9300/05
Hope that helps someone? Cheers

Well I'm not the best one to answer. There are many here more qualified. But Knox is a security app for Samsung that tells them if you changed the stock recovery or rooted the device. Kind of a use it and lose it (your warrantee ).
I am going to root, but first I'm going to be doing a lot of reading. That's how I did it with my other devices.

That is the big misunderstanding here. You are talking now about a also so called Knox-Bit which works like you explained. But Knox is much more and much different because it is a system appendix from Samsung to have a secure Android platform. Which means that in some companies this is a must before connection to their internal network. And to have this work environment means that you need special apps which work together with Knox.
See more here.
