Hi guys, I recently flashed a 4.3 official ROM and all of a sudden had aquired Samsung Knox, now although this will not get rid of theknox count in download mode it will allow you to disable Knox and continue to use it in a normal way without it interferring with apps asking for super user status. If you have super SU then open it up and it should detect you have knox installed, it will then ask if you want to disable it, hit yes and let the app do its work.....................that should sort you out, it did me on a gt-9300/05
Hope that helps someone? Cheers

Yeah, fair comment, ive actually worded and typed that incorrectly, i actually aquired knox by mistake when trying to root my phone, I was looking for the root file and i came across a post on this site about a program that can root any phone so i gave it a go, didnt end up with root but had knox instead! not cool! lol
i have a knox on my galaxy s3 that keeps boring me
Knox makes no odds unless you're a business buying phones.

Please enlighten us on how it works, a screenshot of the tool ANYTHING, from what I have heard it's just a root tool stolen from xda resold for 30 bucks. Bin4ry's root tool. Some proof that it's actually rooted would be nice.
In case anyone knows what to do with this I just found out samsung already released the source code for this phone, http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=search&searchValue=I437
any new methods to root?
Why is there no forum for this phone? Id really like an easy root method so I can install google now.
Found on
After a long time of searching I found one
Unlockroot (Can't post the link)
It does make you install babylon though
To remove it just search on google "fully remove babylon"
:good:
WOW, IT WORKS! I HAVE ROOT!!!! unlockroot.com also they re-released this same exact phone in EU with jelly bean on it. Samsung I8730.
I wonder how easy that will be to port!
e: it's released alright, the open source drivers for it are on http://opensource.samsung.com/ just type in I8730 I think i'll try to build it and flash that rom to see how the stock jelly bean works, stuck on 1.2ghz kernel though that's the only downside

BLN for the Galaxy Express
I'm about to use the UnlockRoot program to root my wife's Express... Does anyone know of a kernel with BLN that would work with the Express? The biggest problem with this phone is the absence of any LED indicators for missed calls so my only option that I know of is BLN. Any other ideas?
Edit:
Just finished rooting the Express using UnlockRoot... painless. Uninstalled Babylon... also painless. I installed GooManager and found that there isn't a TWRP recovery for the Express. I hope things kick off with this phone sometime in the future. It's a good phone, just needs BLN for notifications...

While I am not aware of any custom kernels for the Galaxy Express you could use NoLED to get notfications of missed calls, emails, texts, and other types of notifications.

Can you use that root method straight from the device without using a computer? Also, can I take off babylon with a computer as well? Really want to do this but I wont be around a computer for a bit.
My main goal here is getting google now. Hoping this method works for that
The program uses adb to get access to the phone so a computer is needed to run the program.

Used Unlockroot as well and worked like a charm. To prevent the extra software like Babylon I just didn't allow their installers access through my firewall, painless enough. Now I can start to delete all that bloatware att and samsung preloaded on my device. Thank you for the find
Alright everyone of us is waiting for the release of Android 4.4.2 for our device. But does anyone knows if this firmware update, changes the bootloader and adds Knox compatibility? Like Knox warranty 0x0 or something like that that s4 and note 3 has?

Knox doesn't use eFuse.
We're not getting 4.4 so no need to worry about it.
First, already Samsung Galaxy s3 sprint got kitkat and it's very unlikely for us not to receive the kitkat. Second, I don't mean the Knox application,,but the bootloader, I know about efuse but I'm not sure about something. For example if Samsung was sure that they will develop later a software like Knox and had put efuse inside the s3, but inactive until this update,?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
The sprint s3 has different hardware, the i9300 won't be getting official 4.4. Don't see what the fuss is about, having used 4.4 on the s4 I was only impressed by how many things didn't work, like flash and any apps that use the external sd.

Does anyone know of anyone working on a way to root without tripping it yet?? Or does it look like its not going to happen???
Thanks

As far as I know the Note 3 had knox implemented in an ota update, meaning its software based. The S5, however, has a hardware implementation in the form of an efuse which blows when a non samsung signed kernel is flashed. At least thats my understanding

Screw it, thats what I think at least. Personally, I don't ever see me needing to get warranty on this phone. As for the Jump plan I have, they never checked a thing when I went in, so I assume I'll be good when that happens. I ahve insurance so even if it did break/malfunction, I'll just break it and pay the 150.00 bucks

I don't see the big deal with knox. With knox tripped the tmobile store will still take it no problem. Usually the first thing I do when I get a phone is root it and knox is never a worry of mine

a person I know tripped a knox in....note 2 i think? swapped it with a new note 2 because he dropped it. when he went to get the note 3, Tmobile declined him unless if he paid up front because of the knox. he used insurance to get it switched out. So they do check at some point it seems and note you.
Watch out, they will be checking

You may have skipped by and got lucky like me the first time, but I know for a fact that the policy of the Jump company is telling them to check the KNOX counter. I believe and was told at the TMO store that they will be checking and are required to check otherwise the Jump program will take the money from TMO. So TMO is now going to hold employees accountable who do not check to see if KNOX is tripped and JUMP catches it. Just saying, hate to waste one hundred and fifty dollars every time I jump! It's bad enough just paying the damn sales tax! Then buying all the extras like a case, battery, etc.

You realize Knox was not on my Galaxy Note 3 when I received it, it came almost six months later. It is now a hardware, firmware feature of the phone and the TMO stores will be checking for it. We all got lucky this last time around but it will not be so when it comes time to Jump again. So be aware of that and find other ways to replace your phone or you'll be paying extra every time.

For me, flashing Philz custom recovery through ODIN did not trip my bootloader's knox counter. I thought it was very odd and that maybe I got lucky. Then I flashed the SU zip file through the custom recovery and then my counter was tripped.
Instead of doing an insurance replacement, you could just do a free warranty replacement to get a phone without knox tripped.
Don't mean to troll, but on a side note, we poor AT&T S5 folks are waiting for even a very basic root

I would start by reading through those for the pluses and minus.
Installing a custom rom will enable the hotspot.

I would suggest trying a custom ROM or if your trying to stay stock but roote w/Hotspot try one of the ROMs from Beans or Keysoh2. I've been running them and had no issue, I also tried the hotspot with no issues.

If you read Rom specs, you will see that many roms break knox. if they don't, it's for ppl who need an unbroken knox capability (for work, etc.)
Personally, I have found it too much trouble to be worthwhile. Every time I've made a mod for unlimited hot-spot (and it worked); it only worked for a while. Eventually the phone companies close the vulnerability, then hackers hack it, ad infinitum....
I'm still looking for a way to keep knox 0x0 but rooted, I don't need anything else. I really don't care if knox is tripped except my Samsung AllCast Hub won't work if rooted so I have to hide it
I flashed ne6 (I think that is the right version) then rooted with towelroot. I use mobile Odin pro to upgrade to newer versions of software to keep root and just replace framework with one that allows tethering
Hey all, excuse my ignorance but I have searched and still am kind of confused. I'm going to grab a phone on Verizon prepaid next week and would like to get the Galaxy S6 Edge, but am still kind of confused with what's going on in the development scene. Mainly I want root and a custom recovery. I'm OK with touchwhiz and a stock ROM, especially if I can get rid of some bloat, but really need root and recovery. WHere I am confused is that I don't know what version of the Edge I will get and if full root will be available and if I will run into any problems that will prevent root. It seems like the smart thing to do would be to get the Nexus 6 for root/ROMs/Bootloader, but I really like the S6 Edge and would love to grab it if it will work.
