Nice work, good video:good: This is a lot of fun to try on the HP TouchPad. You should post this info and video into my update thread so more people will hear about it.

Buff,
What are all the specific settings you use within xhalo?
I am using the default launcher/icons with Jc's CM11 and not quite getting the same experience of two apps side by side. Tried adjusting window size percentages but its likely just a learning curve.

Sorry I didn't make it clear in the OP.
MAIN SETTINGS
Pop-up window: I chose alpha 100%, dim 0%, and gravity "Center".
Pop-up size: I chose portrait width 100%, portrait height 50%, landscape width 50%, landscape height 100%.
Pop-up behaviour: I chose Disable Auto Close, Show App in Recents, Force New Windows in Halo, all else disabled. In whitelist/blacklist options I chose "Always open apps in halo except blacklisted apps". (The blacklist contains apps that don't work well that I hand picked).
System ui-mods: I chose quick settings in halo, and long press recent apps item option.
Statusbar taskbar: I have it enabled, with running apps.
MOVEABLE & RESIZEABLE
Setting is ON.
Titlebar disabled.
Moving settings: retain window, constant window, allow actionbar all ON.
Resizuing disabled.
Triangle enabled, resizing off, dragging off, single press minimize, long press close.
Quadrant enabled, resizing off, dragging on, single press maximize, long press close.
Border: 1px.
Other: everything disabled.
I hope I was clear enough. Any questions, feel free to ask in this thread.

Many thanks - just stumbled across this! Who would have believed that our Touchpads, once destined for the dump have such life in them still!

Nice vid and info! It's JC Sullins though, not J Scullins.

Finally installed Xposed on Touchpad and will try this new module soon
Thanks!!

[UPDATE] [WIDGET] NOOK color power button v0.4.2

*** [07/08/2011] Free version FIX! *** There WAS an issue with this app not working for putting he NOOKcolor to sleep in the latest CM7 nightlies, including CM7.1RC, and BN 1.2. I have just released a new FREE and DONATE version with a configuration option to fix this! Sorry for the delay!
DONATE version with transparency, custom color, sizes, icon style, and reboot/poweroff/ask options on press:
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.otis8.nookpowerfull
LITE (free) version with no options, sleep button only:
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.otis8.nookpower
Update, v0.4.2 (DONATE version)
* Added configuration option (when placing the widget) to fix the sleep issue not working in newer builds of CM7 and (hopefully) BN 1.2.
Update, v0.2.1 (FREE version)
* Added configuration option (when placing the widget) to fix the sleep issue not working in newer builds of CM7 and (hopefully) BN 1.2.
Update, v0.4.1 (DONATE version)
* Attemped bug fix for an annoyingly spurious force close issue
v0.4.0 (DONATE version)
* Added four icon size options
* Now choose from three icon styles
* New icon preview area during configuration
v0.3.1 (DONATE version):
* Fixed possible issues with power off sleeping instead.
* Removed need to wait for power off dialog confirmation. When you press "Power Off," you mean it!
* Important! "Power Off" is now immediate on widget or dialog choice press, similar to reboot! No longer does it wait for the standard Android power off dialog!
v0.3.0 (DONATE version):
* Added full custom color options
* Added reboot and poweroff on press options
* Added option to ask what to do in a dialog popup when pressed
* Added ability for multiple widgets with different color, transparency, and action when pressed
* Now requests root access when configuring the widget
Description, from the Android market:
*** FOR ROOTED NOOKcolor USERS ONLY! ***
NOOKcolor Power Button is a home screen widget that (guess what) is the SAME THING as pressing your power button. So it puts your device to sleep/reboot/poweroff, without reaching for the hardware power button.
This is not just an app that blanks the screen, which is why it requires root. It actually emulates a real press of the power button on your device.
Seriously...it doesn't work at all if you don't have adequate root access to your device. Root access is required for real power button emulation if you are running Eclair (Android 2.1) on your NOOKcolor. It also works with Froyo (and Honeycomb?) as well.
Please contact the developer (me, the OP) with any issues!

Good deal, thanks for the feedback! I made it as a side project for something else...but I am finding it useful on my Nook as well. I'm not a huge fan of the hardware power button.

What kind of toggle? This is a one-shot widget, not really a toggle of sorts...
I ran into some interesting issues at first with another app of mine that has a widget that toggles -- Softlocker (the donate version has a widget). PM me with specific details of what you want help with, so we don't clutter this thread.
Thanks! I've been wanting something like this.
Could someone explain to me what the draw is? I don't own a NC yet, but I'm interested in what makes this an attractive app. I'm genuinely interested, but I can't find a way to type my question without it sounding sarcastic.
Thanks!

It's ok, I understand. I'm the developer of the app, and it was just a little side project I came across while working on something else.
Anyway, the draw of this app is simply that I don't like always having to press the physical power button to put my NOOKcolor to sleep, it isn't the most amazing placement or feel to it, and I can make apps, so I did.
And somebody 1-starred it already, without leaving a comment as to WHY or what they thought was wrong...awesome. That is so lame and unhelpful. The app is dead simple -- if you have true root access, and a NOOKcolor, it should work without fail.
Can any of you who may have downloaded it please give it a rating in the Market?
MAN that chaps my hide...
Any way to change the color of the button ?

Sure, if I make a new one. What do you want? I suppose I could pretty easily make an option that is dark instead of light, if that is what you are going for.
Great app, i use something similar on my N1 to save the power button.
Suggestion: besides color options would it be possible to have the option to set the transparency?

Possible, yes. I believe I have opened a can of worms, haven't I!
Would it be worth a cheap "donate" version of the app to have a couple of color options and the ability to set transparency? I might do it for free as well, though.

I appreciate the feedback!
Thanks for sharing your work; it gracefully puts the screen to sleep, unlike the power button, which flashes brightly before shutting the screen off (dunno if others have this issue as well). Thanks again!

I'm not sure if I have noticed the flash you are talking about on my NOOK, though. Interesting.
Works great.. a 50 cent option to adjust colors, size, icon and transparency would be a nice addition..
i just downloaded your app and it works great. you should definitely post a donate version on the market. color setting + transparency are easily worth a buck or two.

[Q] Have you heard of Widgetsoid2.x?

How many of you were aware of Widgetsoid2.x's ability to have notification power widgets (if properly configured) with which you can toggle directly from the notification area (like under CM6.1/CM7) without having to toggle the widgets from a separate popup it launches first (like under Power Control Plus, Extended Controls, others)?
Screenshot taken using Widgetsoid2.x on Ginger-Tazz-Sense b3.
Not really a fan of the coloration of the notification icons. I like the widget controls however.

Me neither, for the notification area I had to color the icons black to be able to see them well (the background doesn't change no matter what in the notification area it seems) and set them to highlighted all the time (unless that was one of the other apps I tried). It definitely would be nice if the icons were more easily customizable - other apps were able to change the color of individual icons, and individual "active" indicators at the bottom.
The one-click notification control was definitely the winning factor for me.
yup, I liked the notification widget when I wasnt using CM7....it comes in handy
Other downfall is WiFi by and god just open the settings. Unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah, that would definitely be a bummer. I would probably use a combination of Widgetsoid2.x and another app in order to provide 1-click for WIFI in that situation.
I'm using Ginger-Tazz-Sense (beta 3 but beta 7 is out now) and this newer Sense interface already has some built-in toggles in the notification/status area, so I don't bother using Widgetsoid2.x for WIFI and some other things.
Check out my screenshot (fixed, ImageShack seems to have a problem with a period in the picture filename I had previously) in my first post ^ to see the second tab at the bottom of the status area, that's where the new Sense's built-in toggles are. Sure you have to make one more click to select that tab but it's still fast.
Yeah I am running beta 5 right now having the minor white screen but if i keep enough ram open i have no issue

If you have any trouble configuring it the way you think it should work shoot me a message.
In general, it appears you have to keep the option checkmarked at first to open notification widgets as a separate popup which you then click on the widget you want from there. After that first time, THEN you can uncheck the open as popup option and it appears to work just fine from the notification/status area after that.
ye, i have never heard of this before,
but it looks clean and clear in a glance

I miss the pull down from 4.1.2

I really miss the simple pull down from jellybean 4.1.2 where I just had to have on pull down and I could easily enable or disable airplane mode, wifi, gps.
Now I have to pull down and hit settings to have those toggles enabled or disabled. I find that one extra step annoying but can't find an option in most AOKP roms to disable pressing settings to get to my toggles. Is there a way to change this?

It must be there in display settings. If not just get the "notification toggle" from play store.
Does what ya need and you can chose which toggles ya need.
LIFE! It's what you make out of it!
Swipe down on status bar with two fingers. You'll go directly to quick settings. Also both CM and AOKP have a setting where you can configure swiping down on the left and right sides to take you directly to notifications or quick settings. For example, swipe down on left side brings up notifications and swipe down on right side automatically brings up quick settings. And I think there's a setting to directly display quick settings if there are no notifications wherever you swipe. CM also still includes the old style power widget at the top of the notification bar. If you want it, you just have to enable it in settings. So you see, there are many ways you can make using the quick settings a *really* quick and straightforward process. I find the quick toggles to be better than the old style toggles because I get to it in one step and everything shows on one screen (by increasing the number of toggles per row). No extra scrolling step like with the horizontal toggles. But some toggles such as screen timeout, screen lock etc aren't present in quick settings, so I use a combination of quick settings for all the usual toggles and the horizontal old toggles for the ones which aren't available.

Thanks. Currently I'm still on my 4.1.2 TWRP backup but am trying to transition to 4.2. A lot of features missing in a lot of custom roms and Gapps. Ie photosphere, poor battery economy due to a host of issues (ie unresolved wakelocks) that kind of doesn't make the switch worth it for me yet.
Photosphere will never be included in AOSP ROMs even for Nexus devices because it's not part of the AOSP camera source code. It requires a proprietary Google version of the camera copied from Nexus devices along with proprietary library files. Reason is it uses street view technology and that's Google's proprietary technology, not open source. The Google camera also includes Picasa album sync, which isn't present in the AOSP camera/gallery code because it is proprietary too.
So if you want photosphere, you'll have to find Gapps that include the proprietary camera and libs or a flashable zip of only those parts and flash them to your phone. The standard Gapps package includes a check to flash these parts to Nexus devices automatically, although you should remember that flashing the closed source GalleryGoogle.apk will remove any customizations made by CM, AOKP etc to the camera.
Also, regarding battery, since codefireX SR5 many people have been reporting great battery life using the recommended settings (interactive gov, SIO scheduler, 149-1024/1200 Mhz). Synergye made some changes to increase battery life, and it's showing in the reports of users. People who are still experiencing average battery life with this ROM most probably have old batteries (like me) or some rogue apps installed. New batteries make a world of difference.

Nova & AOSP Quick Settings shortcuts/activities... wow, really getting into this now!

Nova & AOSP Quick Settings shortcuts/activities... wow, really getting into this now!
I know that Nova has always had "shortcuts" that you can play with.
And the same for AOSP Quick Settings "custom shortcuts".
Just starting to really get into these options now and some of them are very powerful. Between "Activities" and "Shortcuts" and "Browser Favorites", my Quick Settings is really starting to fill up.
My favorite one so far is I swipe down Quick Settings and click a button and it takes me directly to a Create New Calendar Event page.
Same for my Touch Tunes app. Click a button and it takes me directly to the Search for Music page. No more opening the app and clicking several buttons to get where I want to go.
What kind of cool activity/shortcuts have you set up with Nova or Quick Settings? And does anyone know how to edit the name of a Quick Settings custom shortcut?
I haven't done much with it yet. Just kind of got into it yesterday. This is what I've got so far.
Nice, I knew we could edit the quick settings, didn't know we could add our own

"Activities" is powerful but if you wanna go wild use it in conjunction with Tasker. You need to be rooted and have Tasker, Busy Box & Secure Settings installed. Furthermore, there are more potent ways/apps out there that harness the power of "activities", gestures and other goodies, one notable being LMT (the pie) and surely don't overlook the power of "scenes" in Tasker. Try combining them all and you'll get to really appreciate the underlying power of Android (in a burst of enthusiasm and amazement).
Ex: I set 4 screen-brightness-presets in Tasker and assigned them in LMT (gestures) using two finger swipe (up for A Brightness, down for lowest, and another 2 intermediary levels for right to left / left to right. The beauty comes from the fact that it works even over the locked screen (pattern). This way I no longer use any conventional settings for brightness...and keep in mind this is merely one example out of many others

Google Phone Edition. Basically the pure vanilla / "Nexus" version of the Galaxy S4: https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Samsung_Galaxy_S_4?id=samsung_galaxy_s4&hl=en
Then no, the Quick Settings won't work with it.

But Nova Actions will work.

Reboot your device and spam the power button. This will disable the xposed framework and all the modules. You can then go and change the settings in the module or disable it and reboot.
Hi,
Great idea!
Few things though:
It would be very nice that the things you mention in OP would be realized. I tried this on a GT-I9505 (galaxy mega 6.3) and such phone needs it for the keyboaard only IMHO. Other apps are no problem to have them fullscreen. So maybe:
- on per app basis (where keyboard is an app too)
- masterswitch in notification area or as widget (or any place that can be reached easily to switch keyboard to one side)
Kind regards,
Treare

It would be very nice that the things you mention in OP would be realized. I tried this on a GT-I9505 (galaxy mega 6.3) and such phone needs it for the keyboaard only IMHO. Other apps are no problem to have them fullscreen. So maybe:
- on per app basis (where keyboard is an app too)
- masterswitch in notification area or as widget (or any place that can be reached easily to switch keyboard to one side)
Kind regards,
Treare

This is cool.
Did you consider to have function like T2 Ultra's single-handed mode?

Ok, had to update to newest framework but the mod isn't working correctly
Nothing appears, just the title bar as seen on screenshot.
I'm currently running CM-based ROM (kitkat) on my N7100.
Not working on Sprint Note 3 running Sprint S5 ROM
