Hello
I once installed the MIUI rom and tried some other roms too but I wanted to go back to MIUI and can't! I just get stuck in bootscreen
I've tried to format dada/sdcard/system/cache and to mount/unmount everything before installing, I tried to partitpate sdcard but no ****ing luck
but I can flash every other rom without a problem like tw9;5
Fixed!!!: I had to format my phone to partition EXT4 with Rio's Multi-Formatter (It works on Ace)
Have you formatted your phone's partitions to EXT4?
MIUI is CM7 based, which requires an EXT4 partition to operate.
Search for rio's multi-formatter, or the flashable EXT4 formatter (can be found in bieltv.3's CM7 or CM9 thread, I can't remember).
Remember, after formatting, to flash a kernel. You don't want to hard brick your phone, do you?

Hi all, just needed to know
1: if apps in ext4 partition of sd card has the full data of the application?
That is, apps stay after flashing a new rom?
Another question, if I flash to stock rom which does not support ext4 app2sd will the whole sd card be unreadable? For example if I flash stock froyo from coderom?
Third question which is simple, wondering if I can flash a stock rom with Odin if I had replaced the stock recovery with cwm?

1. only if have enabled data2sd. But they will not availaible after flashing.
2. No. it'll be readable. Only the ext4 part will not detected by pc.
3. Yes
Hit thanks if I helped!!!
I think for q no 2 is, the ext4 partition wouldnt be detected even on the phone itself if u flashed to rom that doesnt support ext4. Its common sense really

1) Depends on the a2sd script used...
2)fat32 partition cn b read. ext4 cnt b...
3) yes
Do know it's common sense but for my mini pro even formatting to ext2 gives a "sd card cannot be read" and prompts to format. So i'll have to make sure just in case, have to revert to froyo to try to use my warranty for my defective phone earpiece.

And thanks guys ^^ fast replies.

Hey guys.
I've read some threads about moving ext4 from one SD to another, but this isn't exactly what I need.
I am currently on MIUI XJ 1.8.12 XPart rom and I want to change to 1.8.12 A2SD+ and a bigger SD card.
Changing the rom isn't the problem, but backing up my ext4 partition from the old SD is!
I used the newest ubuntu live CD(11.04 I believe) to partition the new SD card to FAT32/ext4. Everything is fine.
The SD gets recognized as it should. FAT32 and EXT4 partition mount and I can access them.
But with my old SD it doesn't work.
If I plug it in, FAT32 and EXT4 partition get recognized. FAT32 partition is named "195" and EXT4 is "userdata".
When I try to click the EXT4 it just dissappears. In the media tab it is listed, but I can't access it because I am not the owner of it/I am missing permissions/rights to access it.
I partitioned it with CWM recovery, but meanwhile I changed my recovery to RMD 1.03 (I don't think that this matters though...).
Now my questions:
1. How can I access my EXT4 partition to backup its content?
2. If I can't access it because I can't change permissions... do I really need to copy it or will it be enough to restore my apps that I backed up under xpart with MIUI Backup?
3. Is it a problem to restore a app backup done under xpart-script with a a2sd+ rom?
Thank you for reading!
you can backup your ext partition in recovery. i think you can also just open a file explorer and copy the folder /sd-ext (i havent tried this, so im not sure if this will work)
Ok, I haven't tried to backup it with recovery.
Will it then be possible to flash a new rom (a2sd+ instead of xpart) and restore only the ext partition?
I want a clean install with a2sd+ but I don't want to loose settings and savegames.
Just a small "up" for my thread.
I backed up my sd-ext partition and I could wipe right now.
Will there be any problems with restoring the ext partition on a new rom?
What will happen if I just wipe sd-ext and restore MIUI Backup?
Will sd-ext will just be "rebuilded" from the MIUI Backup?

there will only be problems if your rom does not support either your a2sd or your current ext filesystem (which is to say, does it support ext4 or does it only support ext2 or ext3?)

i believe so (please dont take my word for it as i have not done this before. however, im pretty sure it will be "rebuilt" as you have it included in your backup)
Thank you again.
Its the MIUI rom from XJ for Desire Classic with XPART script. Your ext Partition gets converted to ext4 if you install this rom.
Will there be problems with using sd-ext content from XPART after update to A2SD+?
Maybe I'll bother the dev from this rom
Hi guys i'm new , and newbie
i need help to use my ext partition on my O1.
I have flashed the Gtr 5.8 rom based on cm 7.2 but i can't see the partition.
i tried to use freespace app and a2ext app but these can't see this one.
I have flashed 3 Roms but no one works with this partition.
My recovery is Clockwork 5.0.0.7.
Sorry for my bad english and thanks a lot for anyone can answer me
I'm not familiar with that ROM, but I just glanced at the discussion thread, and there are instructions/advice for using apps2sd. Have you read that?

I had the same problem.I did this and it worked. It's simple just create the partition again
First backup all the data of SD card
then install Amnora recovery as mentioned in GTR rom by neko95.
Reboot into recovery
Then in partition set value 0 in both partition n swap, you'll have a blank SD with it's full capacity
Then again partition as your wish.
Then copy all the backed up data.
Then open S2e
it'll be able to detect the created partition
Hope i helped!!
yes, use amonra...clockwork's default to ext3/ext4....forget which one or maybe both....if you want specifically ext3 for whatever reason that might be, use amonra than partitition than upgrade from ext2 to ext3 in the partition portion of amonra recovery
ok, i think to have undestanded.
When i have an hour free i try to do this, with amonRa.
Thank you a lot
Can anyone help me about find the solution for enabling ext4 and swap partition in ICS roms.
on GB i flash script by darktermor and then my swap partition and ext4 partition works perfectly and after installing apps, they move automatically to ext partition.
But in ICS this script doesnt work and when I install link2sd it ask about my partition but it moves my apps to android.secure not ext partition and my swap partition doesnt work.
I tried mesa kernel, kernel panic, but in terminal my swap partition is 0 .
Can you help me please
Thing is, darktremore a2sd doesnt work well with ics/jb. Try mount2sd script, can mount swap partition too.

thank you,I installed from this topic but still it doesnt work
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342387
it will work. i'm using it.
My phone is xperia mini pro
with kernel panic.
Can I use your kernel will it enable this ?
Or it is because of my rom that it cant support this ?
mount2sd need a type of sysinit that invoke init.d script after boot, and my kernel does support it.
just make sure u create partition correctly eg:
1st partition as fat32, primary. this is for usual sdcard files.
2nd partition as ext2/3/4, primary, this is for mount2sd use for moving dalvik, apps, apps data etc.
3rd partition swap.
I use swap and ext partition on GB as well and had no problem.
but now even use mesa but it cant mount my sd card i install both aroma installer and legacy install of mount2sd script but it doesnt work.
