What is the file system (ext2, ext3 or ext4) needed by mik_os's rom? I am trying to install it but always get boot-locked
it should work with any of them
I wonder why it didn't work the last time! nevermind, it's working now

And doing this, did you managed to restore the backup successfully ??
Well this thing happens with BOTH megatron and void roms...when i boot into custom recovery /cache is the only one mounted and i tried unmounting it before trying a nand+ext+.android_secure backup...doesn't work my sd card is like 3 gb free and ext4 a2sd has only 130Mb of apps in it..
Guys I had made a simple nandroid backup after rootingand installing custom recovr and before installing void. Now if I restore the nandroid backup, will I still have the custom recovery or not?

i cant mount the sd-ext partition from the custom recovery.. it says:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
even nadroid back up with ext ends: run nandroid-mobile.sh via adb
any solution??
Boot in recovery mode.
Connect phone to pc.
Mount ext partition via adb.(after that in Custom recovery mount menu you will found ext partition mounted)
Do nandroid

//Edit: First try to create backup ONLY of system, without any other option. If this will be work, you probably done same mistake as I did.
Same as me. I didn't do wipe of EXT after creating of ext-part and I had same symptoms. Backup all your data with Titanium Backup, backup data on SDcard, delete ext, create ext2 again, convert ext2 on one, that you want, do wipe of it. Than it should be working (I had).

i dont know if i am doing it right..

ext2 is faster, because it haven't journal. But it on some I/O output error is not possible to recover it by itself. Ext3 have journal - is slower, but in case of problem will (can) repair itself. ext4 is better ext3.
under partition section - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10377391&postcount=4
At the time I made the recovery kernel sources were not out so I couldnt add ext3 & ext4 support to recovery. I'll try to update it as time allows.
mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /sd-ext
be shure /se-ext exists

i know that.. but in ext4 i couldnt take a nandroid +ext backup because the ext4 partition could not be mounted. in ext2 and ext3 i managed to do nandroid backup +ext and mount the ext partition only through adb..
hey is there anyway to make it bigger i have moved all my apps to the sd card
Use S2E if you are using CM7. You must create an ext3 partition for S2E to work. Download it from the market.

Either use gparted (desktop linux app), or clockworkmod. Set swap to 0 if you use clockwork. The ext partition must be the first partition, if you use gparted.
Make sure youre using CM7, not all roms support an sd-ext partition.

Every guide/source I've ever seen says you must put the fat32 partition first, followed by ext partition, and optionally followed by swap partition. I've never bothered trying it any other way but you're definitely wrong about having to put the ext partition first. It might work in either order.
Also just about any of the custom ROMs on this site will support an ext partition, but S2E specifically only works on CM7.
yer thanks all ive done it know i used a partition wizard that deals with linux stuff and work i know have the ext3 at 500mb.
and im using CM7.1 RC
thanks all
Hi guys i'm new , and newbie
i need help to use my ext partition on my O1.
I have flashed the Gtr 5.8 rom based on cm 7.2 but i can't see the partition.
i tried to use freespace app and a2ext app but these can't see this one.
I have flashed 3 Roms but no one works with this partition.
My recovery is Clockwork 5.0.0.7.
Sorry for my bad english and thanks a lot for anyone can answer me
I'm not familiar with that ROM, but I just glanced at the discussion thread, and there are instructions/advice for using apps2sd. Have you read that?

I had the same problem.I did this and it worked. It's simple just create the partition again
First backup all the data of SD card
then install Amnora recovery as mentioned in GTR rom by neko95.
Reboot into recovery
Then in partition set value 0 in both partition n swap, you'll have a blank SD with it's full capacity
Then again partition as your wish.
Then copy all the backed up data.
Then open S2e
it'll be able to detect the created partition
Hope i helped!!
yes, use amonra...clockwork's default to ext3/ext4....forget which one or maybe both....if you want specifically ext3 for whatever reason that might be, use amonra than partitition than upgrade from ext2 to ext3 in the partition portion of amonra recovery
ok, i think to have undestanded.
When i have an hour free i try to do this, with amonRa.
Thank you a lot
Can anyone help me about find the solution for enabling ext4 and swap partition in ICS roms.
on GB i flash script by darktermor and then my swap partition and ext4 partition works perfectly and after installing apps, they move automatically to ext partition.
But in ICS this script doesnt work and when I install link2sd it ask about my partition but it moves my apps to android.secure not ext partition and my swap partition doesnt work.
I tried mesa kernel, kernel panic, but in terminal my swap partition is 0 .
Can you help me please
Thing is, darktremore a2sd doesnt work well with ics/jb. Try mount2sd script, can mount swap partition too.

thank you,I installed from this topic but still it doesnt work
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342387
it will work. i'm using it.
My phone is xperia mini pro
with kernel panic.
Can I use your kernel will it enable this ?
Or it is because of my rom that it cant support this ?
mount2sd need a type of sysinit that invoke init.d script after boot, and my kernel does support it.
just make sure u create partition correctly eg:
1st partition as fat32, primary. this is for usual sdcard files.
2nd partition as ext2/3/4, primary, this is for mount2sd use for moving dalvik, apps, apps data etc.
3rd partition swap.
I use swap and ext partition on GB as well and had no problem.
but now even use mesa but it cant mount my sd card i install both aroma installer and legacy install of mount2sd script but it doesnt work.

Hello
I once installed the MIUI rom and tried some other roms too but I wanted to go back to MIUI and can't! I just get stuck in bootscreen
I've tried to format dada/sdcard/system/cache and to mount/unmount everything before installing, I tried to partitpate sdcard but no ****ing luck
but I can flash every other rom without a problem like tw9;5
Fixed!!!: I had to format my phone to partition EXT4 with Rio's Multi-Formatter (It works on Ace)
Have you formatted your phone's partitions to EXT4?
MIUI is CM7 based, which requires an EXT4 partition to operate.
Search for rio's multi-formatter, or the flashable EXT4 formatter (can be found in bieltv.3's CM7 or CM9 thread, I can't remember).
Remember, after formatting, to flash a kernel. You don't want to hard brick your phone, do you?
