Sandisk sd card - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Has anyone tried the sandisk extreme plus or sandisk pixtor sd cards..thoughts?

I use SanDisk extreme 32gb and pretty satisfied.

Pixtor = SanDisk Ultra
They're pretty much the same in terms of quality. The Extreme Plus cards are just faster (if you're using a USB 3.0 card reader)

Not having any problem with the 64GB SanDisk Ultra.

I have been using
SanDisk Extreme Plus microSDHC Card Class 10 UHS-I 80MB/S 64GB
For a couple if months without problems, as others have said it's the fastest currently available, although in the Note 3 it doesn't reach its potential due to lack of UHS-1 interface.

Don't buy SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I 64gb. I'm using this and it just spoilt. Tomorrow on Monday I'm going to their office for replacement. If u count tomorrow or would be my third replacement card within 1 year. Purchased in April 2013.. first replacement Sept 2013.. second replacement jan 2014.. now this replacement may 2014. And I'm using original because I replace them at the sole distributor office.
First replacement is because the card totally unable to read/write from phone and pc.
Second replacement unable to hold data. Meaning suddenly all data missing. When write or save things to card.. when restart phone is missing again. Tried on pc.. write files to the card. within few minutes is missing again.
This time is unable to write to card again. This time I tried chkdsk /f /r /x it says volume bitmap unable to read.

I've seen people complaining about those issues too.

yep, read about a lot of complaints on the sandisk ultra ones. People seem to be having good results with the extreme though.

Anyone heard of problems like this ? i'm so angry now i can barely think....

Where did you get your sd cards from, and how much did they cost?
Strange. I have been using same sd card since the beginning and no problems ever.

And this. I have the same card actually, and same circumstances. Have used a few other cheap-o's with no issues as well.
Sounds to be a problem with the phone, or you got ripped off on both failing SD cards.. Are they dead 'dead'? Non working in a card reader connected to a pc?
I got my 8 GB class 10, used it in my S2 and my S. Working flawlessly in my S3.
You didn't buy a cheap card or fake one from ebay did you? I've had a cheap card fail on me before (transcend) but it wasn't in the s3. I've got a SanDisk extreme now and it's been very reliable so far. Worth the extra money I think

the cheap ones on ebay are absolutely crap, my friend had two returned one after the other, only 2 weeks usage and they are dead, finally got a refund and went for sandisk, working flawless more than a month now. go for the brand names, they are ok price now and save yourself from wrecking your s3 please

Ye I would echo this, cheap cards either "branded" or no name are usually open to fail after a few weeks / month I use a rule of thumb if the price in a retail shop is for arguments sake £1/$1 per gig and im buying online any thing more than 50% cheaper and its probably a dodgy poor quality card or so old its only class4 but seller isn't being honest.
You have to watch Amazon as well as those virtual warehouse peeps like to send crap cards out in place of quality you expected happened a few times. Now I stick to class 10 Sandisk Extream cards as others have mentioned never had a problem since and I can use them in my DSLR or any other device that needs high speed and stability.
If OP tries a sandisk and it still kills the card then you probably have a faulty card connector in the phone shorting the cards out.
And again I've been using my 64gb card for over 2 months now

You haven't actually said what was wrong with the card, it could be that a chkdsk could have fixed it. Had this problem myself twice with CM9 and a CM10 ROM as they dont have support of exfat and they corrupted my card. However I fixed the partitions easily in windows using a micro SD converter by simply running chkdsk.
I bought a genuine 32GB class 4 SanDisk MicroSD.
After about 2 months in my S3 it started continuously mounting/dismounting, then becoming write protected, then not being seen by the phone / computer, I ended up sending it back. Don't know if the card was faulty or the phone 'destroyed' it..
I've had a very similar experience with OP.
My S3 already killed 2 cards and I'm on my 3rd.
The cards are all genuine.
1st one was a patriot 16gb class 10.
2nd was 32gb SanDisk class 10/1.
The problem is that after a while the card would constantly mount/dismount.
Now on my 3rd.

I've had a Sandisk 8GB class 4 micro SD card since my Galaxy S days. That means I've been using the card for almost 2 years now. It's been in my S3 for two months. It still works perfectly fine. Maybe you bought a faulty one (or even a fake).
The title was hilarious, though. It's like a trailer for a new movie.
Galaxy S3: The Card Destroyer
Tagline: It came from another galaxy on a mission to destroy every type of card known to humanity!
I've used 3 cards without problem..

did it just not appear when browser or did you get errors randomly telling you it had dismounted?, were you able to remount and it worked or did it not then mount at all. Did you try to repair by chkdsk /f /r format etc?. I ask this is what mine did after installing a non exfat ROM.

Can I use one that is UHS-l?
Samsung Micro SD 32GB Class 10 Plus UHS-I SDHC
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Micro...&keywords=samsung+micro+sd+card+32gb+class+10
Go Samsung 64GB UHS for sure. Even if you don't think you need that much space now. You don't want to regret it in the future. Buy one 64 GB now instead of a 32GB and then a 64GB later.
Keep in mind you won't get UHS speeds on the S4. The read/write speeds ARE still faster than a class 10, but you won't get alll the speed benefits.

From what I've read, on various Android forums and on Amazon, it's best to stay away from the SanDisk cards because many people have a lot of trouble with them.
I have a 64 gb Samsung card that I got on Amazon and it's working very well. It may have been overkill in terms of gbs, and you might want to consider a 32, but I'd stay with a Samsung card.
I just picked this one up from amazon, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009SK57ZQ/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8. Amazon even botched up the over night shipping so I was fully refunded the $20 shipping I paid.
I bought this card to replace the 32 gig card I jacked from my gopro black when I got this phone. I'll be using the 64gig in the gopro now.

I have had way too many issues with SanDisk to buy their stuff anymore. I have a spare 64GB microSD of theirs I will use on my GN10.1 2014 Edition, but my Samsung 64GB microSD will go into my GN3.

I ordered my 64GB Samsung SDcard 2 days ago on the 18th. Still haven't gotten a status update. It just says Not shipped yet and they have not charged my card. I might cancel and try again tomorrow.
I cannot recommend SanDisk anymore given the sheer number of problems with all of their cards from 16GB, 32GB and especially my 64GB card I have. I got a Samsung 64GB microSD and I have been very happy with it, solid card no issues and same price point as SanDisk.

More reliable? That's a personal opinion as SanDisk's products have proven to be reliable as well.
One thing's for certain though, both of Samsung's 64GB microSD cards (1, 2 Reads/Writes @ 70MB/s/20MB/s) are slower than the Sandisk Extreme Plus card @ 80MB/s/50MB/s. With the Note 3's 4K video recording and best shot, the speed of the card is key.
Do the 64 gb sandisk cards need to be formatted?

The Ultras cannot, but I'm not sure if it's the card's fault. It defaults to 1080p when you choose card storage in the camera app. Not sure about the "plus." My guess is no, because it's built into the app to default to 1080p. Unless it's written in the code to allow 4k to be recorded to an external card based on testing the write speed... unlikely...much easier to default it to 1080p.

Same here. I have older SanDisk microSD cards in cameras and my kid's gaming devices which I've never had an issue with.
I'm sure tens of thousands of consumers are happy with both Sandisk & Samsung's microSD cards, just as there are plenty of people who will have all sorts of negative things to say about each company. Fact of the matter is that all products have a failure rate. That's just the reality of it. One person's bad experience doesn't set the mark for everyone else's.
Personally, there isn't an individual persuasive enough to deter me from ordering something just because they didn't enjoy it. I buy what best fits my needs.
Edit: Just received mine!
I think the 64 gig sandisk cards are the main ones that have issues.
I have a couple 32 gig sandisk cards that are a couple years old, but I have yet to have a 64 gig last more than 8 months.
After the second one I had went bad, I was googling for info on the 64 gig cards & found a thread about exactly that. In that thread, there where almost 400 responses and at the time over half of the posters had the same experience I had. Of course, people that had bad experiences with a product are more likely to speak out than people that have had no problems at all.
I know when they corrupted, sandisk didn't question the problem at all- they said they knew there had been problems with the product and where replacing them with no questions asked.
The card in my phone now is a 64 gig sandisk. It is about 6 months old and works fine so far, but I make sure I never store anything to it that isn't backed up somewhere else.
Yeah....that class 10 64gb card is regularly $60-70. This was a year ago also. Steal-deal then was that card for $35 on amazon (1 day only deal). That's when I got mine. Hate to break OP's news, but this "deal" is regular price.

No a class 10 extreme 64gb card is still $100. You're thinking of an ultra card. Not extreme. Different speeds
