wait... so if you have a extreme pro sandisk you can save burst mode pictures on SD card instead in the internal memory?
or this samsung features that locks it down to internal only when burst mode...cant seem to find a way to save burst mode on SD card.. i recall having it on my GS3 but i had a custom ROM...
im reading that the SanDisk pro says you can save pictures using burst mode...

16GB Samsung class 10. Working great so far. Gallery is super fast opening, and browsing through pictures and videos. I've seen some reviews on the Note 3's gallery where it took two minutes to open for some people. I have around 2,000 pictures and maybe 50 videos clips, and it's flawless accessing them all.

Paid $8 dollars at Wally Mart on sale couple of months ago and had no need for it until I got the Note 3, still after over a week I still have 20 gigs free on the internal storage and there is just a lonely rom and backups sitting on the sd card..

can you do a speed read/write test screen shot? seems like everyone using class 10 san disk.. i see that extreme pro but its only up to 16GB and only like reads another 10mb faster...

I'm currently using the Sandisk Ultra 64gb, which I've been using for a year on my Note 2. I have a Sandisk 64gb extreme on order to take advantage of the USB 3.0. I transfter HD movies a lot onto my phone so it saves me quite a bit of time to have fast transfer speed.

[Q] Micro SD Card Size or Speed?

Hey what do you guys think? I can get a either a 16GB Class 10, or a 32GB class 4 for the same price. Does a class 10 really make much difference on a phone? If this was for my DSLR Camera it'd be different. So just curious what everyone's thoughts are. Thanks In Advance!
P.S. The Price is $60. However I work at Best Buy and know i get a discount im just not sure what it is yet...
I was wondering the same thing?
I would think the class 4 32gb would be fine with the Evo 3D, but i could be wrong
What brands? Not all brands are the same.
I just purchased a Sandisk 32GB class 4. I mainly use my storage for music/pics.
I use a Sandisk 32gb class 2 I believe, it may be a class 4. Used it in my Evo4G and now my 3D. I run most of my apps and games off of it, never had an issue. Never any lag, just as fast as a class 6 I used by some off brand. Sandisk is known for having speeds faster then what they are rated, alot of no-name brands are just the opposite though.

Kingston 16GB class 10 for about $55

PNY 16GB Class 10 for about $30
16GB Class 4
I just went through this same thing.... The card that came with the phone was class 4. I downloaded SD Tools from the market and did a speed test. My goal was to ensure that whatever card I got had at least the same read/write speeds as the stock card.
Out of 3 tests on the stock class 4 card the highest results were 7.0MB/s write and 16.9MB/s read.
I went to Frys and bought a 16GB class 4 card (I think it is WINTEC, but will double check) for $19.99. Figured I could return it if the speeds weren't up to par.
Out of 3 tests with this class 4 card, all came back with 11.0MB/s write and 19.2MB/s read.
I decided to go with 16GB first to see if I would really fill it up. Sure, I would love 32GB of storage but when do I really need ALL my music on my phone at one time and how many movies do I really need on hand? I figure I will still use my PC as the ultimate storage device and then sync down about 4GB of music and maybe 3-4 movies at a time... still leaving room for some camera pics. If I find I am running out of space I will then upgrade to a 32GB card.
Hope this helps!
I ordered the Lexar 32GB class 10 microSDHC from tigerdirect today - $55 (approx $6 for shipping *and* tax) today. It retails around $90 at amazon

Only problem is that it is expected to ship in late August... hope they don't cancel it by then
I'm using sandisk 16g class 2 card that come with my Droid X. I do get lag sometimes playing 1080p vids, although rare.. If I don't skip around a lot then no problems at all. I don't consider it a nuisance enough to throw away any class 2 cards but enough to make class 4 my new min requirement.

I have the Adata 16GB Class 10 from newegg. Works really well.
i got a 16gb sandisk from amazon...pretty cheap.... im sure its a generic one but never had a problem with generics
I've used the 16gb class 10 Wintec Filemate. I tested it with hw2test (forgot the exact name), and it turned up 12 mb/s writing and nearly 20 mb/s reading. So it's definitely a class 10 and performs higher than its class actually. It's worked well for the past year, and is generally around 25-30 bucks on Amazon.
Try checking out Amazon's prices, they're usually pretty good. You can get a 16GB card for as low as $16 and a 32gb starting around $40. I usually stick with Sandisk; haven't had a problem yet. They're usually a bit more, but the reviews tend to be high. I went with a 32gb-- class 4 to keep the price down-- but I think I'm gonna go with an Ultra model (15 mb/s) when I get a 32GB SD card for the dock. I have one in 2GB and side by side, it's like tortoises (not the fast ones on youtube) and hares. And with recent price drops, it'll be cheaper!
I appreciate the replies. Is there a major difference between a class 10 and a class 4?

Could you please provide inputs on the speed you achieve using a C10 on the TF? (File transfer, app launches, etc?)
I got a 32G Class 4 Sandisk off Amazon for ~$50. Works great. Sustained write is somewhere around 6 MB/sec.

You might want to check you are actually getting the full 32gb capacity on that card. There are a lot of fakes on Ebay that show up in Windows etc as the size stated but if you actually try to copy that amount to the card it fails.
Ive had great luck with both my aData and Sandisk 32gig cards. One is a class 2 and one is a class 4.
One thing to note with classing of cards is pretty much any card will be fast enough to operate with the TF. Playing videos and holding data for programs. The Class only refers to write speed, so its how fast you can put data on the card. This will primarily come into play when copying large files to the card. If you arent worried about that as much then you could save some money passing on higher classed cards.

Using TeraCopy to copy a big movie file to the Adata class 10, I got a constant speed of 16MB/s. Reading is a little bit slower, around 14-15MB/s.
Does the microSD SDHC TF Memory work with the transformer or would only the regular microSD without the HC work?
Can someone link me to a decently priced 16gb one on ebay?

NO this is UHS-1 class which is different from the standard class 6 or class 10 rating.
UHS class 1 is actually faster then a standard class 10 card.

I have this in my galaxy note which supports uhs-1 best it does is 12 Mb/s writes about 18 Mb/s reads - really only class 10 range. From what I understand the samsung class 10 is just as good...if not better. I have a one year old lexar that is just as good.
While I see the need for faster read/write speeds....can the phone actually benefit from such speeds? I had a class 4 on my old phone and i felt it worked fine...
I guess I'm asking If i'll see a notable difference in operation between a 32GB C4 and a 32GB UHS1?

More reliable? That's a personal opinion as SanDisk's products have proven to be reliable as well.
One thing's for certain though, both of Samsung's 64GB microSD cards (1, 2 Reads/Writes @ 70MB/s/20MB/s) are slower than the Sandisk Extreme Plus card @ 80MB/s/50MB/s. With the Note 3's 4K video recording and best shot, the speed of the card is key.
Do the 64 gb sandisk cards need to be formatted?

The Ultras cannot, but I'm not sure if it's the card's fault. It defaults to 1080p when you choose card storage in the camera app. Not sure about the "plus." My guess is no, because it's built into the app to default to 1080p. Unless it's written in the code to allow 4k to be recorded to an external card based on testing the write speed... unlikely...much easier to default it to 1080p.

Same here. I have older SanDisk microSD cards in cameras and my kid's gaming devices which I've never had an issue with.
I'm sure tens of thousands of consumers are happy with both Sandisk & Samsung's microSD cards, just as there are plenty of people who will have all sorts of negative things to say about each company. Fact of the matter is that all products have a failure rate. That's just the reality of it. One person's bad experience doesn't set the mark for everyone else's.
Personally, there isn't an individual persuasive enough to deter me from ordering something just because they didn't enjoy it. I buy what best fits my needs.
Edit: Just received mine!
I think the 64 gig sandisk cards are the main ones that have issues.
I have a couple 32 gig sandisk cards that are a couple years old, but I have yet to have a 64 gig last more than 8 months.
After the second one I had went bad, I was googling for info on the 64 gig cards & found a thread about exactly that. In that thread, there where almost 400 responses and at the time over half of the posters had the same experience I had. Of course, people that had bad experiences with a product are more likely to speak out than people that have had no problems at all.
I know when they corrupted, sandisk didn't question the problem at all- they said they knew there had been problems with the product and where replacing them with no questions asked.
The card in my phone now is a 64 gig sandisk. It is about 6 months old and works fine so far, but I make sure I never store anything to it that isn't backed up somewhere else.

Don't buy SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I 64gb. I'm using this and it just spoilt. Tomorrow on Monday I'm going to their office for replacement. If u count tomorrow or would be my third replacement card within 1 year. Purchased in April 2013.. first replacement Sept 2013.. second replacement jan 2014.. now this replacement may 2014. And I'm using original because I replace them at the sole distributor office.
First replacement is because the card totally unable to read/write from phone and pc.
Second replacement unable to hold data. Meaning suddenly all data missing. When write or save things to card.. when restart phone is missing again. Tried on pc.. write files to the card. within few minutes is missing again.
This time is unable to write to card again. This time I tried chkdsk /f /r /x it says volume bitmap unable to read.
