Titanium Backup restoring discussion - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I want to discuss about the data and app that are restored using the TB after the data and factory data reset.
Many of u must have switched roms and also reset the data.
So i have to ask what do u follow:
1. Do u manually donwload the apps
2. U use the Titanium backup to restore apps and data.
The "myth" in my mind is that scenario 1 will be more smoother than the 2.
So what all u think. Does it effect performance in any way or not.

Titanium is definitely faster / smoother / easier / more complete backup + restore vs Google services.

Generally you want to back up apps and system data if you want to keep things like wireless setup, etc. When you restore though, do not restore system apps, and restore your users apps with data, and the system data you would like to have, i.e. wireless settings.
I, for one, only backup user apps and data.
And I will support the dev if I feel the app is outstanding, which TB is in every way!

[Q] Backup question???

i will like to know if i will make backup with titanium backup for full system+app backup and right now i am using bionex 1.2.1 and i am moving to team whiskey nextgen v2 will this make my phone go mad because i did also system backup?
or maybe i need only app bacup?
please help
and thanks from advance
You usually don't want to restore anything from system from titanium backup..user apps & data are ok but system & data tend to cause problems.
Backup... do a nandroid backup in CWR before flashing...
but before then, yes, backup all apps+data... I generally avoid ALL system apps, with the exception of bookmarks/wifi if I am staying on the same OS (2.2>2.2)... restoring system apps can cause issues, best to avoid it.
Also backup sms (I use SMS Backup+ in the market)
your launcher (if you use an alt one)
etc....

[Q] Titanium Restore

Hello,
After changing Rom from X to Y. Do I restore all user apps+system data? only user apps?
Please clarify.
Thanks
Oren
Do not restore system data if changing firmware .

Titanium Restore
So how do I restore the settings? My desktop, all the configurations?
What exactly should I restore?
It's never a good idea to restore apps AND DATA, just apps, if you also restore data you will likely get FC's particulary if your moving to a new ROM or new formware.

ok i have a question for you..when i go to restore apps through TB i always do the first one..restoring missing apps with data....is that good or bad? and didnt TB had an option were you could only restore apps with out the data? or im i being mistaken
Restore "apps with data" isn't the same as "system data," AFAIK.
I've always restored apps with data without incident.
I always restore apps with data but never system data just to be sure. I use Go launcher EX and all my desktops end up exactly as they were (exept for some widgets, but that's unimportant). The only thing i have to do is reconfigure some of the settings, basic things like ringtone, disable haptic feedback, etc...

Mybackup pro backup and restore?

Using My backup pro to back up apps. It asks if I want to back up apks , data , or apks + data.
Is the apks+data option considered system data or user data? I know its not a good idea to use backups with system data on new Roms.
Does this option fall under that or is it OK to backup on any rom?
I have also used Titanium Backup and I know u have to be careful what kind u do when using it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Apps and data is safe. Thats stuff like your login for xda, game levels, etc.
Just look through the list and verify they are only apps you installed and nothing system.
Thank you!
Do you use Mybackup? Would it save any system apps? It doesnt give you any options there... just asks if you want to backup apps...then asks if apk, data or apk+data...
Sounds good. I'm a titanium backup user and you get everything under the sun on the backup list.

Installing Ultimate Sola v2 rom

I'm interesting in installing in this custom rom. As I haven't done this before(I'm not noob in tech stuff, so I can do this easily) I have a question. As I have read, installing any custom rom, including Ultimate sola v2 requires wiping all data. I'm rooted and I use titanium backup for backup/restore. Question: Will I be able to restore without problems after installing ultimate sola? I have a lot of data and I don't want to lose it.

Both regular data, like contacts, call log, messages and data from games and apps, like angry birds, cut the rope etc.
Should not be a problem restoring game data. As long as you backup the system data.
Titanium backup cannot backup messages and contacts. You need a separate backup for that. Contacts can be simply synced with your google account. Messages will need to use MyBackUp Root. I use this and Titanium to backup everything.

Titanium Backup ( Free version) only supports backing up of all apps along with user data. For contacts - Sync with Google, Messages - use 'SMS Backup and Restore' app (by Ritesh Shahu)
And in case of some very important data, if you dont trust these apps, just manually copy important data to your PC and later you can try and restore in case these backup apps fail to restore.
Hope it helps
Might wanna hit Thanks button if you found it helpful
