[Q] Xperia Z2 Brand New Stock PS Mobile App problems - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I've just got a Z2 new yesterday, I've updated the PS Mobile app like it demanded, works fine and smooth until I install a game, then it just does the whole "PS Mobile has stopped" thing and closes every time I load it, if I go in and clear all the data and caches to get rid of installed game I can then go in and install another game, I've tried installing 10 different games so I don't believe this is game specific. Any ideas?
Also occasionally text in various apps changes from what it usually is to "..." this even happens in the notifications tray.
Why's the shipped software so buggy, is this normal?

Hmm Xperia Z2s have had some issues, alot of them have had faults that can be fixed through repairing using Sony PC Companion
I believe newer firmwares should fix alot of bugs that are actual firmware issues like such.
Things like this arent caused by the firmware but instead your firmware or posibly hardware
-posible fix- use sony PC companion to repair
Or use FlashTool (one word) to flash a FTF file but i recomend the first one if your not so versed in using semi advanced tools

[Q] X10 Mini Pro screen is weird after 2.1 update

Hi
I just tried to update the firmware on a friends X10 Mini Pro, but something weird is happening to the screen.
Its a ordinary X10 Mini Pro with 1.6 software on the TDC network in Denmark. I downloaded PC Companion from the SE website. Connected the phone using USB and followed the guide. Everything succeeded according to the updater.
When I pulled the USB and booted the phone again the SE logo was displayed as it should. After waiting about a minute the phone loaded android, but the screen looked like a digital snow storm - see the attached picture.
Everything still works, but it is nearly impossible to see whats going on in the phone. When I restart the phone the SE logo still looks perfect, so I guessing the screen connector cable is fine and it is a software problem.
I tried installing the software again, but the same thing happens.
Do you guys have a suggestion on how to fix the problem?
Happend to me long time ago reflash

Delete the downloaded firmware from SEUS or Companion, if you poke around with explorer you'll find them, they will be about 120mb in size. Its probably a corrupt flash file so it should redownload when you try again.
I've had a corrupt flash file before, it appeared to install but ended up being a cross between new and old. Sometimes if your broadband connection glitches it can corrupt, only if its a couple of bytes.

Hi, I've got the same problem. I've tried repairing and reinstalling the update, reinstalling both the SEUS and the Companion and deleting their remaining Program Files folders (or is the update file hidden anywhere else?), still the same result. Any ideas please?

One idea, flash custom rom, I recomend nAa rom minicm7 2.1.9 + nAa kernel

Hi,
Download flash tool and firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826455. Flash it by following the steps given. It gives you the unrooted, unchanged version of SE ROM.
Goodluck. Post if you have any trouble.
There is nothing to fear!!! Its really very very hard to brick your phone
If you want warranty, then follow the steps given here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17671699.

[Q] Android malfunction...

Now, first and foremost, Hello to the XDA community and this would be my first post. I am having issues with my Xperia Neo V and I can't find a solution for it.
I admit that this is a stupid mistake on my end so let me start my story and I am hoping to get some assistance from a reputable community such as this.
I was installing some games via Google Play and I realized that my phone's internal memory gets full kinda fast as it is where files are saved by default. So, the genius me, tried to remove some stock apps that may contribute to useless disk space using Titanium Backup. All went well and I deleted a couple of stuff and it worked fine then I decided to restart it to factory settings (without doing backup which I regret up until now). I had several malfunctions after it rebooted again:
Whenever I am trying to go to phone book, I am unable to just press the number to make a call. I need to select edit contact first before calling
The middle button (the one with a house Icon, probably called Home Button, does not respond at all so I having a hard time quitting apps
the worst part, I am unable to connect the phone properly using USB. What happens is that when I plug the USB, the charging symbol on the battery bar shows it's charging (like plugged to a wall jack) but the computer does not show anything, regardless if it's Media transfer mode or Mass Storage mode (mass storage shows an empty drive in My Computer). I tried using other usb cables and other memory cards and apparently, it does not work. Other USB cables that works on other xperia neos yeild the same result.
What I was planning to do initially is to update the firmware (currently on 2.3.4), but updating via WiFi shows it's updated, and using the PC Companion does not work.
I know I deleted something that I should not and I'm at a loss. Later, I will attempt to connect my phone in the PC Companion to try and update it to ICS connecting it to my private wifi. Hopefully it would do the trick.
Another work around that Im thinking is to look for someone that does have a backup of the apk files so that I can restore them again in my phone.
Can anyone please assist me on this? T_T
I recommend connecting the device to your PC companion and using the repair option. If that doesn't work, try flashing a stock ROM from either Wotan or get one somewhere from these forums (I'm sure there were a few in the development section)
Good luck

Why don't you just flash an orginal rom (.ftf)?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690
And then (after you get what you deleted) you just need to get them into your phone. If you were able to uninstall it, you!re having root. So send it to the phone via bluetooth or download from somewhere via wifi (if the USB doesn't work as you told) and using some file explorer move it to their directory and reboot. I think it should work

~sir...I cant find where that repair option is..
~by the way, the wifi option to connect looks pretty useless, it seems that you need to connect via usb on the "pairing" stage...
Ok here's my idea. Get any stock based rom from the dev page (there's a list in the sticky posts) and male sure it's the proper version. Then download the zip file and open it up. Find system/app or system/data/app or something similar inside the zip. Then simply copy and paste the apps from there to your phone, and don't forget the proper permissions.

If you can put the files into SD card, then use whot venoma333 says and do it through SD card - you can move a lots of files together (for example using ES file explorer).
Or you can try to connect your phone to S(E)US or Flashtool. If it would work, that will be the best for you And I think, that in PCC is some option to "re-flash" your phone (like somebody told here). On the top it says if your phone has the newest firmware version or not. Click on on it and you'll get a window with reapair option
Ok, I'm going to attempt to flash and I reached the xperia website (unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions), and based on the instructions, I checked if "Bootloader unlock allowed" is set to yes, unfortunately, my phone says no.. Can I still continue the process??If not, is it still possible to do manual firmware update without unlocking the bootloader?
There is no need to unlock bl for flash process. So forget that page, for now.
You mentioned pc companion, what happens when you start pc comp. and connect your phone(turned on)?
If it doesn't connect to pcc, go to device manager on your pc and tell me how is your phone named there and does it have yellow ! mark next to it?
This is the last thing that I think could possibly work, does anyone know an android 2.3.4 iso nandroid? I think that's the best way to do it for now..I am unable to do the hold back button while restarting, does not work for me

Nothing happens in PCC, it will show that no devices are found. In DM, it shows:
-Sony Ericsson sa0102
|_Sona sa0102 ABD Interface driver
I was trying to update it using PCC, it recognizes the device after I mount the memory card.
What I have done, I restored the system using CWM using this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1630348.html
It worked, however, since the carrier and model brand is not the same, I was unable make my sim card/carrier to work.
My hope now is to get an ISO file for android version 2.3.4 which is from a generic phone. I live in the Philippines and my carrier is SMART telecommunications.
Apparently, the update from the link is for a Verizon phone
If you want alot of space, use a small ROM. Alot of devs have come up with stock Xperia GB ROMs that are easy on memory. To fix, You'll need to flash the entire phone with a stock ROM. Then flash a custom ROM. Besides that, you do know you can transfer apps to SD.

[Q]can someone help me unbrick my MK16i Xperia pro

Gentlemen, I couldn't find a section for Xperia Pro, please excuse me if this is misplaced.
I rooted my MK16i from ICS 4.0. according to a guide here on XDA forum, with no problems (from 4.1.a.435 .. i think).*
Then I installed system tuner and backed up the bloatware and what I believed was obviously named as packages that support them. Things were working great and the phone gained some performance improvements.
UNTIL, I installed Viber and Skype, and niether were working. I thought I would fix it by restoring all the backed up services and apps. Once I did that and rebooted the phone, it became useless
THe phone keeps rebooting. I get to the XPERIA loading screen and then it restarts again
I tried to connect it to the PC to flash another ROM with the Flashtool, but it is not recognized. All I get is in the computer screen a removable disk drive, that is not accessible.
Note: I didnt update the firmware after I rooted.
Can anybody help?
have you worked with flashtool before ? because there hardly could be any wrong with flashtool. use the latest version with proper drivers.
and since you have rooted phone, have you unlocked your bootloader ? if yes, then flash any custom kernel, go to CWM, then place rom zip on sdcard and stright flash rom via CWM.
flashtool should work though. you can try on different computer.
If flashing a kernel or installing custom ROM sounds a bit out-of-reach, you can always go for the repair option in PC Companion. It worked for me when I had soft-bricked my Neo V (it wouldn't go past the SONY logo). However, be advised that this repair option will erase your phone's internal memory. Also, your phone will be brought on the latest stock ROM, so you will need to root your phone again.
Good Luck!!! :good:

I tried to do somethingn like this but sony companion itself cannot detect the phone either.
My question is, is there a brick that cannot be fixed? I took it to a shop today and still they cannot fix it.
Have you tried to use sony update service?
How are you connecting your phone to flashtool?
Can you show us log from flashtool?
New development:
Now I tried to flash the phone with flashtool 32bit rather than 64-bit and it detected the phone! I could even flash the only firmware in Aeonworld's post Here.
Now I can see the phone connected in my computer.
However, the phone still won't boot but when I power on it gives black screen and after a short while, the led on the side becomes green.
For some reason though, I cannot continue with the rooting steps in his guide.
So anyways, after the second reboot, not the first for some reason, the phone gets detected in PC Companion, and I installed the update and now it is working again :victory:
Thank you all for your support.

[Q] Any fix for PCC "There is no software available for your device" error?

Hello Everyone,
i'm sure most of you guys are facing this weird PC Companion issue after downloading the new (23.0.1.A.0.167) FW, to make it short, here is what i get:
1- connecting my XZ2
2- New Software available (23.0.1.A.0.167)
3- Disconnect the device (PCC new feature)
4- Downloading .... etc
5- Connection XZ2 again
6- The mobile shuts down
7- Error "There is no software available for your device"
check the attached screenshot
so any possible fix for this?
Yeah, it happened to me as well and it's pissing me off.
Could it be low internal memory???

I download generic Russia, and flash it.
That Was Really Awfull
So I decrypted the files i got from the PC Companion and guess what i found...!!
the old version rom (.314) was the one included in the downloaded files, FU..K YOU SONY, you didn't even bother to check the files you are sending to us.
Seems that the same problem happens in several regions, as lots of talk i found when googling the problem.
And that explains everything, the PC Companion downloads whats on the server as the new 23.0.1.A.0.167, and when the mobile shuts down to the flash mode the error happens
Also some guy at the GENERAL forum posting the ROM twice, and they reply "its the old one", unbelievable ...

I am wondering the same. I live in Sweden and got offered new firmware 23 (or whatever it is). So I've downloaded about 1gig of something and than when it turns off the phone, I get info about no software available.
When I check available firmware for Sweden, it has two version or two operators (not for the third one, which I happen to have) and both are version 17.xxx. WTF??? I guess PC Companion got too happy about availability of nw firmware somewhere in the world and realized, that there is no new FW for my region. ugh.
Same error here in France
23.0.1.A.0.167 sony pc companion update error "there is no update available for your device"
Same here on both my Z2 D6503 & Z2 tablet...
Same issue for me in Italy. I think I will flash the tft. Already wait a lot
I had deutschland unbranded 4.4.2 and I have been updated to 4.4.4 with PCC without issues. (I'm from Costa Rica)
same thing happened to me. but now I managed to update it successfully. just uninstall pc companion and download from their site and install again. redo the process of updating. hope it works in your case.

Question Sony Companion UEUpdateFailed UE_200

Hi all,
I tried several times to repair my phone with Sony Companion after flashing a different region. Unfortunately, it doesn't work, as it stops with the message to prepare the phone and need more than 50% energy. If I try to repari it with the flash mode, I get following error:
UEUpdateFailed UE_200

As it seems that I am not the only one with this error, I started this topic.
Does anyone have a solution for it?
At risk of breaking things further, have you tried Newflasher?
Newflasher works, I did also an update with it.
But making a clean install with Sony Companion doesn't work.
months ago i've tried the Software Repair with Xperia Companion (on 5 II), but it doesn't work. The phone shut down during the process, and of course everything fails. The same with 10 III.
I think SONY seriously needs to upgrade Xperia Companion or, why not, give the community another software for updates/repair on Windows.
