Hi all,
I have Gionee elife s5.5 and it had english rom (android 4.2.2) with google play installed. The problem was it kept freezing a couple of times a day, so I tried to reinstall the only official rom I could find (CBT5701A01_A_T2898) with flash tool. After the installation, it got stuck in the boot loop.
I tried:
- entering the recovery mode and cleaning the cache
- entering the recovery mode and factory reset/wipe
- reinstall rom with flash tool with update option
- reinstall rom with flash tool with download option
- reinstall rom with flash tool with download and format option
- reinstall rom with flash tool v3.1344.0.212 and v5.1352.01
So far, no luck. The only answer I can think of is that this rom is not for my phone version. Anybody has any idea what can I do? Or does anybody have some other rom I could try to install?
Thanks in advance.

Where did you get the phone? Try looking here, translate it using Google.
http://www.mgyun.com/
I bought it on ebay from China. Thanks for the link but no luck. I've downloaded the new rom and the romaster program (I'm guessing I should use it for the installation) but the program is not detecting that the phone is connected via usb. Same thing with vroot.
Since this rom is in another format, I was thinking maybe I could install it via adb option in recovery mode but I'm getting 'device not found' message when I try to start adb shell.

Have you installed the drivers for the phone?http://gionee.co.in/portfolio/elife-s5-5/#t4

Try here, you need to register.
http://www.yougerom.com/bbs/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=265
Yes, I installed usb and phone drivers. I also installed adb driver (at least adb driver installer says it is installed as android composite adb interface) and yet when I try adb shell, deamon starts ok but I keep getting the message that the device is not found.
The rom from your link is the same one I already have, but thanks anyway.
All this is very frustrating. Seems like everywhere I go, I hit the wall:
- if the phone has sdcard I could try install rom from there, but it doesn't
- if adb connection works I could try that, but it doesn't
- if romaster detects the phone I could try install it from there, but it doesn't
- sp flash tool is working but I could find only one rom version and it's not working
You did the brushing before installing the flash've used Flashtool?
Have you looked in setting pc, peripherals, if you have something in conflict, if you do not have the yellow exclamation mark?
Also I have just bought this phone, by Liaow, who did the root and installed the Playstore. Now my phone is still stuck in Hong Kong and I do not know when it will arrive in Italy.
How did you like the phone, the battery life, becomes very hot since the minimum thickness?
I don't know what do you mean by 'brushing' so the answer is probably not?
Everything looks ok in pc's control panel, no conflicts or unrecognized devices etc. It's win7 64bit.
I was thinking about buying it via Liaow but in the end I used ebay. It took 3 weeks to arrive, and I paid for DHL express delivery (!) Isn't EU wonderful thing...
I really liked the phone (in the brief time it was working). Display is great, it's fast and the battery would last for a day without a problem. The build is very solid. I wasn't playing any games on it or use any apps that would use cpu extensively, but in normal operational time I didn't notice any significant heating. I even liked the Amigo skin. It has some nice features and was working very fast. The only problem was it kept freezing couple of times a day, usually after long times of inactivity which led me to believe it has some sort of problem with power saving functions in android (or amigo). Oh one other thing: it doesn't have notification led. I miss that.
If you don't get your phone, I know where you can get one very, very cheap. It's stuck in the boot loop, but still...
Brushing think it is to do a full wipe before doing the flash with Flashtool.
When you receive your phone, you've got an update OTA of 98 mb?
Thank you but the phone I have already paid and are waiting for his arrival.
I hope we put less than three weeks since I also took DHL.
In Italy we have a beautiful community where there are developers who work here in Xda, who are fond of Chinese mobile phones and in particular there is a person who develops rom alternatives.
So I guess I would be able to help me if I had the same problem, but I hope I do not have any problems.
You say you had blocks of hibernation in power saving mode enabled, then maybe in normal mode just fine.
I do not usually use the mode energy in any phone I've had.
I prefer to charge the battery when needed.
First I tried only update, after that I tried full wipe.
I did try to disable every power saving mode I could find, but the phone still kept freezing. Although, there are some options that are useful, like limiting cpu for more energy and lower temperature.
I didn't get OTA update, but the seller told me that they had to open the box to install english rom version with google play. Maybe they also installed this update.
got another elife threat here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699708
Here's the quick update: after I manually edited adb_usb.ini file, adb sideload works now. But...none of the rom's I have can be installed with adb (I get 'installation failed' message after transfer).
So, what I need is:
- rom that can be installed via adb sideload
or
- rom that can be installed via flashtool with scatter file (after extensive search of the web, the only rom I could find on several places is the one made 11-03-2014 and this one is not working for me)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks but I already tried that. This only works with Romaster app and it doesn't recognize my phone being connected while on boot loop or recovery mode.
Even my phone is stuck on boot, can anyone help me
Tired of searching everywhere cant find it anywhere, can anyone please share a link from where I can download rom for my gionee elife S5.5 Indian version, my phone was working fine until I installed beats audio It asked to reboot and the then it never rebooted, stuck on gionee boot animation, I also flashed the Chinese rom but it doesn't support, phone was booting up but the rom is too lagging and unstable. I don't want to go to the service center cause my phone is rooted and warranty will be voided, I just bought it two days back. Is CWM available for this phone cause I couldn't find that too, I'd be more than grateful If anyone can help me out I just need the rom file (Indian version), thanks a million !!!!
i also tried to install beat audios on my gionee s5.5 ... and now it is not statting my phone get stucks at boot animation logo "gionee smatyphone"
Here are some good news people: needrom.com site finally released new rom version and it can be installed via adb sideload. It is CH/EN version and even when you switch it to English, some things still stay in Chinese but hey - at least it's not in boot loop anymore and now you have more options for rom installation.
Thanks dev, was so sick of this phone and its features, especially free mobile heater(owen) + worst sound ever + lots of lags, even flappy bird lags on this phone though I had optimised the cpu performance using set cpu to its max by creating a profile to play flappy bird, mediatek chipset sucks happy after entering the snapdragon world, just bought M8 yesterday and believe me this is the best phone till date though the ram is 2gb the processor is a the beast and there's no comparison to it and when it comes to the sound no one can beat htc, the looks it feels so ****n premium, the touch is like butter smooth, loving it!! Thanks

Hello, i just recently purchased an Allview P5 smartphone, it's really cost efficient but recently i started getting some problems because the phone is not rooted and i was wondering how to root the android 4.04. i tried the superoneclick 2.3.3 and installed adb and something from java, bu when i rung the program superoneclick the program just freezes and it's not responding. any suggestions or guides that i should follow?

Try root for HaiPai I9220. For me it works.
Having the same problem here, Superoneclick freezes on step 7 iirc.
HaiPai didn't work for me either
So that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923764
There you will find this: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?othd1gf76pa97zg
It is 100% functional, but need more knowledge and skill.
Ok, I came a lot further this time, but still stuck.
As soon as I let Cygwin `patch` the recovery.img, it does the patching and stuff, but it doesn´t create a new recovery.img for some reason..
If you check page 13 of that PDF manual: I get all the same messages in Cygwin, except for that "Repacking" bit.
Any Idea why it isn't repacking?
Losing my nerves a bit because of Cygwin, what a horrible program to get to work properly. Installation went on beyond 100%, till about 2000% and then just started to count further in negatives >____<
You must have installed 7-zip archive program.
SuperOneClick should work for this device. You may try this:
1) unmount the sd-card, turn ON usb-debugging
2) turn OFF usb-debugging
3) connect device to PC
4) click "Root"
5) when "Waiting for Device" appear turn ON usb-debugging
6) when "Starting ADB Server..." turn OFF usb-debugging
7) then turn it back ON
8) and back OFF
9) repeat this while "Waiting for Device" appears again.
@Stovka: I have 7zip installed, the unpacking/extracting of the recovery.img goes fine in Cygwin, but for some reason it just skips the repack part.
@AndreyETO: As soon as I disable debugging mode, superoneclick stops the procedure, so I didn't get far with that
So sorry, I don't really know what is the problem...
It was all ok for me - the one problem was that I had not installed 7-zip, but after installing it worked exactly according to instructions.
If it were successful: after recording recovery.img to the phone is first necessary to go into CWM mode (no run phone) and install the root file attached. End CWM recovery mode is classically done by clicking on "reboot system now", but after the first time there appears one more option (just I don't know what name), which must be confirmed! Otherwise, when you restart the phone again, then will be loaded the original file and the recovery process must be repeated - upload modified recovery.img and then root file via CWM.
Found another way to root, and it worked
I used the method in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 )I used the current newest version:V15)

Same experience on Allview P6 Stony (P6_0201_V1179 software build). This method works for me - similarly I had to run the script (and the reboot cycle) 2x before it had an effect.
As pointers for others, before you try this method you need to make sure you have ADB drivers installed. Trying to install stock google drivers didn't work at all for me, what worked for me was installing latest PdaNet drivers (pdanetZ350.exe) from here: junefabrics.com/android/download.php *
Don't forget to install OTA Rootkeeper app afterwards and run it once - hopefully saves you the hassle of rooting again if the P6 should receive an incremental update.
Enjoy, thanks Flapperbol!

Version 18 also works
Just to let you guys know that version 18 of Root_with_restore works. I just the ADB drivers from the PDAnet install (which I cancelled after the drivers were installed) and the phone is now rooted!
Does anybody know how to get rid of those ugly allview icons? I hate those things.

I just picked up a Yoga 8 today. did some searching around and found this page instructing how to root it. I was hoping to have a bit more control over the process, but i could not find any other information either through google or through xda. (I realize the thread i linked to is not for yoga 8, but several people said it worked, and when i used it, it did indeed root it)
I would like to experiment with what can be done through the xposed framework with this tablet, but before i go anywhere i want a custom recovery on it so i can do a nandroid backup, should something go wrong. I have not been able to find any custom recovery for this device at all. looking through CWM and TWRP's databases of supported devices, I've come up with nothing. any assistance would be appreciated, whether you know of another recovery (or an unofficial CWM/ TWRP) for the yoga 8 or if you have another method of making/ restoring nandroid backups.
Anybody have this tablet? any success getting a custom recovery running on it?
I picked up one yesterday after spending 3/4 of an hour in front of the stores shelf. I just couldn't really decide which tablet to get. The first thing I've done with it was going online to see how to root. I found a thread where someone posted that using the ideatab method would work on the yoga too. But I was too hesitant because I had just updated the firmware. But it would be great if this little thing would get some developer love.
I have installed CM11 on my old razr HD before handing it down to my wife and already thought about installing it on my note 3.
Rooting is done using Framaroot 1.9.1 (old Framaroot had no Barahir exploit). You can make a backup using MTKDroidTools and you can flash using SP Flash Tools. All tools can be found here at xda-developers. Unfortunately I don't know about a recovery for the time being, I'd like that too
Mikegrmn, I found those parts about rooting tool for the ideatab working on the yoga, and I ran them after updating to lenovos latest firmware. I can say it worked perfectly.
AP756, thanks for the info. Still hoping for custom recovery but at least I can try a few things now.

unfortunately I have the non-3G version of the yoga 8 (I dont think the 3G version is available where i am).
I'm wary to try it since it's not the exact same device. I would personally wait for more support to be available for custom stuff.

I've got the drivers installed properly. i used them to root it and to send the recovery over adb. it coughed back that I didn't have the permissions to copy the file (i was running admin cmd) so i set the default action for SuperSU to allow, i tried again, and it still didn't work.
Either way it is done now and working. i did a backup and copied it to my computer, so i can start playing around with it.

worked for twrp
what I'm still unable to determine is how to actually enter recovery without sending adb reboot recovery, the VOL + power seems to still enter the chineese recovery. But other than that it's fine and functions correctly.
If someone knows how to replace the default recovery with twrp and the button combo that enters that recovery with power off please advise.

ROM Manager has the ability to reboot to recovery...or if thats the only thing you need to do, download swift reboot
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Jerry.swift_reboot
I was more looking for a button combo, thinking of a solution to maybe overwrite the correct recovery or something of that nature. But thinking about it, there's probably one recovery built into the boot loader and a separate image as just the recovery maybe? The button combo is proabaly just different areas of the bootloader instead of it redirecting to a different image like what happens on other devices. I think I remember the transformer having this "issue" where it seemed to have two. I'm sure someone will come along with a fix this at some point, it functionally works, just not ideal.

Hold Power button + (Vol+ & Vo- together) and hold it few few seconds until you see a black screen where you will see selection between recovery and normal boot. Read the screen. Selection of option using volume up button and entering to selection is vol down button. Once you selected Recovery and pressed vol down, you will see screen with triangle. Now press power button gently. There you go.... You are now in Recovery (either 3e or your custom recovery).
Hope it helps.

Assuming you have a custom recovery, since you were able to install Xposed on 5.0+...grab the appropriate uninstaller zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 and flash through recovery. Should remove the Xposed stuff and get you back on the right track. Not sure how anything to do with Xposed affected the driver situation though, but should help with the downloading issue. I would try the newer version of Xposed to see if that doesn't get everything working right, though always recommended to make a backup before changing important system files, like with Xposed, for this exact reason.
I don't have custom recovery or anything, it has stock ROM. With custom recovery do you mean that I need a modified ROM? I will appreciate if you or someone can help me, a f**** video guide told that a custom recovery was not needed....
The video guide was this one (in spanish, you can understand what I did just by seeing the video despite being in Spanish, Link2SD step was not necessary in my case): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67xWjzQl4jg
If I restore the system thanks by XDA Help I will NEVER try install xposed or anything. No more...
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I can't expect help from ZTE to get ROMs or anything... that's their answer:
"Dear Valued ZTE Customer,
Thanks for contacting ZTE.
For this issues please contact the local dealer where you purchased the device or network operator to consult.
Should there be further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,,"
I'll try to get as straight tot he point as possible.
Been using my Mobile one touch pix 7 for a little over a year and always installed Ota updates. Well I rooted the tablet not too long ago, forgot which method I used, but was working fine.
an Ota update came through and totally forgot it was rooted, and tried to install it, at which point the whole tablet got bricked.
It ended up in recovery, and I selected due to failure, to format and wipe the data.
Anyhow, The unit will stay at the boot screen for a while then show command error and then show the recovery screen, my only options are:
reboot
update from sd card
update via adb
update via memory
reboot Bootloader
power off
Well I've tried updating by downloading system images via adb, they return a verification error.
I've tried using adb side load to try to install an Ota update file I found for it, returns a verification error.
I cannot get into download mode, fast boot mode I think does not work as windows reports 3 android devices, but the mobile update software cannot see anything, and fast boot gets stuck at waiting for devices.
I suspect the tablet is for lack of a better description totally bricked and just a paperweight.
I am at a loss of what to try from this point. I'm sure wiping the data after the failed update killed it completely but not sure.
Anyone have any guidance here? I've downloaded a few images from the web I found that say they are for this tablet model, but still getting verification error.
Is there any flashing software I can get that may be able to access the tablet or can I copy a file to the scared and have it try to run an update from there. I don't care if it is rooted or not, just want to get it usable again.
I can run Mac OS, windows 10, windows 7, windows xp, or even have no issue getting a linux version going, whatever will work best for this I can use it. windows 10 I was able to manually add the drivers but windows 7 is not letting me do it the same way. I can connect via adb sideload only, no other adb functions seem to work.
I'm not a total news when it comes to custom rooms, as I have done it with another tablet, and an android car radio, but those were pretty straight forward and bootable so never ran into a brick issue yet.
I have a feeling this is toast and I hope that is not the case.
If anyone here can help out, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again....
Need help here to. Been searching with no luck. Any my issue is.
Rooted kingroot, flashed twrp with flashify and now I'm stuck on twrp. Been searching for any custom stock rom. I forgot to unlock the bootloader but I did enable usb debugging (i didn't see any oem options).
Any k 28532Jonsunf of help would be greatly appreciated.
This sorta happen to me. I rooted pixi 7 with kingroot, and was able to delete a lot of bloatware. However, when I was using lucky patcher it pretty much messed up the play store. But it was fine. I could download stuff through the Internet. But sooner or later I needed to fix it. Tryed a lot of ways but it didn't help. So I factory reset the tabletand now im stuck at the Setup Wizard. It just won't let me let me through. I thought its was over, but then I get a message saying there is an update available. So I download it and installed it. But all I get at the end is error. So now I need to flash it with stock. I tried the img. too, but it doesnt show up in the recover menu. If you found a solution please tell me
Can anyoonneee help me find a good Custom Rom for the alcatel one touch pixi 7 (9006W)? Sucks that there's not much info for this device (probably cause the device sucks lol) I'm running on lollipop 5.0.2 and am not able to get OTA update due to rooting. Unrooting didn't help. It seems only answer is custom rom but don't want to risk bricking it as I don't have a computer at home. Also, I am new to this so if anyone can share some insight, I'd be eternally grateful
P.s
It's a t mobile device but I only use it on wifi.
Am using kingroot.
Have never installed a custom rom
****ing device is 8 gigs. 1 gig Ram.
Is it possible to get Nougat?
Help meeee lol
Here you go:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AshkuG2cY1T0xPZArSsy6iO1e_UnPw
This is a zip file with all the tools and files you need and instructions on how to use them.
What it covers:
Restoring bricked device (as long as download mode still works)
Unlocking bootloader (firmware dependent)
Rooting (any firmware)
Installing a custom recovery (any firmware)
Installing a custom ROM (any firmware)
I made this because all the guides for this phone were seemingly outdated, and some required tools and files were incredibly hard to find. Didn't want anyone else going through the pain I went through to break this phone open.
Thank you so much for uploading this. The charging port on my Nexus died and I have to use my old Note 2 as a backup, but I forget how this old piece of junk works. This should be very helpful.
I rooted and flashed twrp to boot to a triangle saying system software not authorized. Tried 3 firmwares and wont boot correctly. I got error about firmware update failed use kies... Kies won't do anything and kies 3 says unsupported device. On the 3rd firmware (root66 rooted stock ) firmware file I now am back to the original triangle system software not authorized by Verizon ..
How do I fix this?!?

Did you read my guide? You can't flash TWRP unless you successfully unlocked your bootloader with Casual, otherwise you are limited to SafeStrap. Also you can't restore with Kies, you have to use Odin and the files I've included to restore.

Nice to see people still looking for something like this, so my guide wasn't for nothing!
I was geeked to see this!! but then i got "This item might not exist or is no longer available"
I take it back.. i let it sit on the "failed" page for like 2 min, and randomly it popped up with a download!
Well the auto bootloader didn't work, so now i'm at the root section. However i'm getting an error where ADB isn't detecting my phone. USB debug is on, and i'm definitely in media mode and not installer. The phone shows up in windows and looks good, but adb doesnt detect. I opened command prompt and ran adb /? and found adb devices -l, and it reports "list of devices" and theres nothing in the list. I can't imagine why it's not seeing it. I tried turning on and off debug mode, switching from camera mode to media, changing usb ports. still nothing comes up, but windows sees it fine. grrrr
*edit, well since we can't delete posts i'll leave this here, because i have to. But what i did was re-open the "no you verizon" and it showed DISCONNECTED also. I changed usb ports like 3 times, turned usb debug on and off, changed from installer mode, to camera, to media mode, restarted the phone and the computer multiple times.. and then it just all of a sudden was detected again. So i went with it and it seems to have worked.
-it took 3 times to actually work, you noted it may take multiples, and it sure did. I ran it through the command prompt so i could read the text, and it took 5 times longer and reported much more stuff when it actually worked.
-final edit: if you can't unlock your bootloader, you're still stuck with ditto or alliance from 2014, and lots of apps won't update on android that old. So if you thought this guide was some holy grail, it is not. But still useful if you need the assist, so thanks to the author.
Hi, total noob here, I just bought Verizon note 2 at a yard sale but there is a pin I don't know. When I went to do a factory reset it booted into TWRP, so I am assuming is rooted. Do I need to be able to get into the phone to use your tools? I know nothing about TWRP. I would like to install a newer Android version and unlock it so I can use TMobile. Thanks
Something wrong...
when i try to load this file from the packages folder i get an error message:
"md5 error! Binary is invalid"
none of the other three works for me. they all come back ailed.
any suggestions?
awesome! thanks for posting this, just found my old note 2 and want to get it up and running again for the kids.
Kudos!
Used this to get my Note 2 up and going again temporarily until the Pixel 4a release...
NOTE: I had strange issues with Odin on my modern X570 board (USB 3.2 Gen 2) where I did not receive any errors, yet the process would randomly seem to time out. Sometimes I'd get stuck at flashing boot.img, sometimes it would hang up at the start, once I got to flashing system.img and it seemed to hang....
Used an older PC circa 2013, no issues! Not the first time I've had issues with this newer motherboard and older USB flashing interfaces; had the same issue on my Note 8 (RIP) as well.
excited to try this.
I'm on some rooted 4.4.2 stock-looking rom. Recovery doesn't look custom.
Hoping to be able to install a working Oreo or Pie ROM
great post, bought a couple of these for almost nothing and am having fun playing with them. sadly they are both 4.4.2 but its great fun anyway.
