Hello.
I am currently on Stock firmware 4.1.1, Build No. I9300XXDLJ1.
The phone is rooted and I want to upgrade to 4.1.2 without losing any data. Is this possible? I will flash Siyah after installing 4.1.2 to reobtain root but I'm a little confused as to how to update the phone without losing any of my data. Do I need to unroot first?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
update via Odin or Kies. You will lose root

Can I just flash the latest stock UK rom on top (via Odin) and not lose any data?
Just like he wrote, just use odin, it will work. BUT ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP!
use rootkeeper.
Just swapped my moto g for an s3 running 4.3 jellybean. I have no pc to flash recovery. I tried some of those root apks like towelroot and framaroot, no joy though.
I assume with 4.3 a few holes were fixed. I do not know how firmware update goes with samsung, but I was hoping I could downgrade with maybe 4.1.2 firmware which may be rootable with apps like towelroot. Is that possible, to downgrade with firmware on sd card, applying update from stock recovery ? Or only possible wih odin from pc ?
No, you need a pc to do any of that -you can't downgrade before firmware EMG4, even with a pc.

I rooted my phone and then updated it with OTA update, and after that I had full root access, it didn't remove my root and didn't brick my device. But it was with my old phone (Xperia S), not with my Z2. I haven't rooted my Z2 yet
You might loose root with the update. It is possible that with a minor update you keep it, but with any major update you will loose it. However, you device should not be bricked unless you have an unlocked bootloader. In case you have an unlocked bootloader, do NOT update via ota.
[Q] Is there root process for I337UCUFNJ5?
Hello,
Recently there was a firmware OTA sent out from ATT for the Galaxy S4 SGH-I337.
Prior to this I rooted the phone using towelroot.
Of course after the update I lost my root and now I want to root it again!
Will I have to reflash an older firmware (NJ4) or does anyone know of a process to root this current firmware NJ5?
I took the update also. Lost root. I then used Odin to flash the I337_NC1_Stock_Kernel. Have Towel root v3 on phone before flashing since I lost wifi and data after the flash. Run towelroot and its rooted. Then odin I337_NJ4_Stock_Kernel on. Its rooted. Use Titanium to stop update of NJ5. Until someone figures out how....
I want to update to B47 from B45 but I´m running on root.
So, how do I unroot my device to be able to update to B47 ( and then root again).
