[Q] Any way to set time-based events on Z2? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've heard that there are time-based events in Android 4.4 and I've seen them on a friend's Samsung phone, but for the life of me I can't find the setting on my Z2.
What I'm looking for is a way to change the sound options based on the time, so that for example at 22:00 the phone goes on silent, and that at 09:00 it goes to normal sound mode.
It would be even better if it recognised that I'm driving to work and change the setting then.
I think I've even seen this when I was initially setting up the phone, but I can't find the events anywhere anymore :crying:
Anyone got an idea?

It's in the app called smart connect. Instead of action by device, set device to none and add a time.

Thanks! Couldn't find it anywhere in the settings, but this "smart connect" came up when it's connected to a charger and from there I could set up time-only events

Try AutomateIT on google play...Works like a charm for me... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=AutomateIt.mainPackage&hl=en

Tasker is the classic, combined with Secure Settings.

Anyone know of an app that will turn the device's power on/off at set times -- like a Blackberry can do? Thanks.
Id like this as well.

Off should easily be done with Tasker. On, however, probably isn't possible on our phones. I could certainly be wrong, however.

Flightmode on / phone off but bluetooth on

Just have the S2 from my old faithful HTC HD2 - with the HTC I use to use it in the gym with my bluetooth headset listening to music but with the phone turned off so I would not be disturbed..........
And from what I can see that is no longer possible with the S2 - surely there must be a way to turn the phone off and still use bluetooth without having to hack the root etc
I know I can use WiFI while in flight mode and GPS but that does not help whilst out running / in the gym - that's basically my time and I do not want to be disturbed, or disturb others hence wanting to simply turn the phone off that's all

By "phone off" you don't actually mean powering the device off, do you? Because that would be neat trick, listening to your music while the device was completely powered off.
You could turn Auto reject mode on to turn away all calls. (settings > call > call rejection)
EDIT: and what's wrong with flight mode? I'm not clear on why this wouldn't work for you. Or is it that you still want mobile data, but no phone calls?
EDIT 2: Herp derp, I see, it IS because you want mobile data, right? Since if you're out running, you don't have wifi available. So yeah, Auto reject mode should work for you.

He wants to use his phone like an mp3 player with bluetooth headsets. He wants to "turn off" phone functions and use only the phone like a music player.
AFAIK in "flight mode" is not possible to use bluetooth.

D'oh... missed one little detail.
Right, it's not possible. Bluetooth won't turn on in flight mode. Sorry.
Auto reject mode should still work for the OP's purposes though.
AloneOnTheDark is spot on - really just a simple request one would have thought......
He wants to use his phone like an mp3 player with bluetooth headsets. He wants to "turn off" phone functions and use only the phone like a music player.
Only issue using the Auto Reject mode is that the caller calling me does not get put through to my voice mail and all the caller hears is that the call is unauthorised..... so not really that sensible as it might be a client trying to get hold of me, and at least a voice mail etc they can handle.............
Still can't believe this is such a major issue and that there are no apps / wdigets to do this, though did come across one potential one where you might be able to turn the phone off, but there was a caveat that it might not work and that you would have to do a factory reset etc

Then you can change your forwarding. settings > call > call forwarding > voice call. Activate "always forward", and put in your voice mail number for your carrier. It should be the same number as the three other forwarding options below it. Same menu options to disable it when you want to turn it off.

Call forwarding is built into the OS, so probably no one saw the need to build an app for it... Just guessing though.
ctomgee thanks that's the way to go - bit of a faff to do but worth it for some peace & quiet away from the phone, and I know I could have ignored the call, but can never bring myself to do that
Just found a little app that does it..........
Thanks again - sorted !

No prob.
FYI, you can create a shortcut directly to the call fowarding settings menu too. Just download "Any Cut" from the market. Or if you're using Launcher Pro as your homescreen launcher, you can do this with a long press on the homescreen. It's a bit of a pain to find stuff you want to shortcut to, but you only have to do it once this way.

Or you could do that.
I honestly didn't even check the market for an app for it. I just assumed there wasn't one because you said there wasn't one.
Hi can you tell me which app you found please? I've tried several but can't switch on BT with any of them once in flight mode. I want to do exactly what you do in the gym! Thanks!

[APP] No 1. must have: SONY SMART CONNECT, works on HOX+ :)

Hi HOX+ forum.
Here is my little contribution.
I have tested SONY´s Smart Connect avalible for FREE on >>>Google Play Store<<<, and it actually works on our HOX+ smartphones, both the AT&T and the International version, and probably also a lot of other phones as well.
It can do allmost everything you need...
It can eg. switch on and off things like settings and programs when you connect the charger, or your headset, OR it can turn things on and off at specified times.
- or even a combination of these...
Say you want to set the phone silent at night, but ONLY if you are at home, then just set a "sound off" time AND set charger as the other option, then both things have to be correct for the software to turn the phone silent...
There are a lot of options in the apk, here is a few:
Triggers:
Time
Charger
Headset
Headphones
Start options (Also stop options):
Play
Bluetooth (ON-OFF-SWITCH)
Data
Call
Sound
Read time
Send SMS
Send Facebook status
Start program
Volumen
Wifi (ON-OFF-SWITCH)
I use it simply to turn off sound every night, when it is connected to my charger and the time is 23:00-06:00...
I have been using it on my SONY phones as it is pre-installed on them, and then i discovered the program on >>>Google Play Store<<<, and tried it, and it turned out that it actually works really fine on HOX+ also...
We use the software daily in our family on a Samsung Galaxy SII, HTC Sensation, HOX+ and also 3 different SONY phones.
just thought i put this here since ive never heard of it before.
Just verified that it works on One X+ for AT&T.
thanks OP, works good.
Wheere is apk for that ...

You can do all this and a ton more with Tasker. Tasker does cater mostly to the pocket protector crowd, this may be simpler, so thanks for sharing. Love my Tasker though, the best $5i have ever spent.

Gear Fit HowTo for Bluetooth Auto-reconnect with non-Samsung Smartphones using Tasker

As i did not find a answer here in the Forums i figured out a way that works perfectly for my nexus 5.
Maybe this useful for other Users too...
I don't know the exact English wording in Tasker, as my Version of tasker is German, but i think you should manage to follow the steps..
i managed to get auto reconnect working on the nexus 5 using Tasker:
1. new Profile: Status --> BT Connected --> Search Name of paired Gear Fit --> Search Address of Gear Fit --> nothing on "inverted"
2. new entry-Task: Name it "BT reconnect"
3. select Network Bluetooth --> select turn off and then go back
4. select "+" at the bottom menu to add another step to your "BT reconnect" task
5. select Network Bluetooth --> select turn ON again and then go back
6. Go back to the profile-page and long-tap on the green arrow
7. Change the Activation from ENTRY to EXIT, so you should have a red arrow instead of the green one before
if you set all this up correctly, then every time the Gear Fit goes out of bluetooth range, Tasker turns your Bluetooth on the nexus automatically OFF an back on again.
On my Nexus the Bluetooth OFF/ON procedure is enough to get the two devices automatically reconnected as soon as the gear fit is back within bluetooth range of the nexus 5. Tested several times today in normal allday-situations and worked perfectly.
Maybe this helps also the HTC One's...

I don't know how to import the file. Does it need to be renamed ?
2nd solution, follow your how to, ok until the end.

Any help.
Thanks
Rename it to *.prf.xml

First you have to connect your Gear to the phone. Then you have to choose your bluetooth device by pressing Bluetooth connected device in profile in the tasker app. Please delete the previously shown device gear fit before. That's all.
I have tested it with my HTC One M8. It reconnects only if I put on the screen of my smartphone. It seems that Bluetooth does not connect to devices if the screen is off. Has anyone an idea how to fix this. The phone is not password protected. Thanks.
Hi Folks,
I tried the description in the first post and downloaded the ready made file (and changed the settings to my own Gear Live) - nothing works on my G3. Any ideas? Can someone else post his file to import here? Is there another description? Or does it simply not work with the G3?
TIA
Edit:
Found a solution which works most of the time: I inserted a (minimum 4 second) wait between bluetooth off and on again.
My task looks like this now:
BT -> off
Wait for 4 seconds
BT -> on
Greetings
Erik

Could you please send me your file to Tasker. I can't get to work G3 with Gear Fit. Thanks.
EDIT: the problem was Knock Code. Gear Fit is unable to connect while Knock Code is set. This is really bad situation, because I need Knock Code. How can I bypass this one?
hi, i have problem with my G2 Mini. Gear fit not reconnect. From the scroll menu you see that does not have active profiles tasker... My G2 not reconnect with Gear fit. From my test G2 Mini not turn off and on the bluetooth, the settings bluetooth is static. Best Regad fo your help
thanks
I joined this forum to say thank you to the OP. This tasked option works great on my Nexus 5. I had the 'no active profiles' error but a simple reboot of the phone fixed it for me.
Stupid request but can someone post a more in depth tutorial on how to get this to work?
Thanks :good:!

Phone Call Management affecting "Headset is plugged in"

I have a Sony Z3+/Z4.
The app Phone Call Management is re-detecting a headset plugged in so my music stopped randomly. Sometimes it would work for hours. Then there are times when it stop every 3 seconds. I can't replicate the exact cause.
I used TB to disable it and everything is fine.
1. How can I fix it? What else could be affecting it?
2. What's Phone Call Management? Google doesn't have an answer.

To answer 2 look in settings in all apps category find Phone Call Mangement. If it says something like com.google.[App Name Here] or com.Sony.[App Name Here] then it's best to leave it alone if it's by something else then disable it and see if that fixes your issues if not I don't really have another solution as I haven't owned one of these devices first hand.

It seems to be the ROM's problem. I flashed the original and NagasakiROM and it's still the same. I found a M-ROM from China and it's fine now.
