Ideafriend.apk is the app who manage your mesages. It allso manages your dialer and contacts. Do a backup with titaniumbackup and try to remove with some root uninstaller tool. Allways Make Backup. And one more thing... Try to install one custom recovery like TWRP or CWM.

Thank bro, i already make back up with cwm. If i remove this ideafriend app wouldn't it be some kind of problem with dialer n contact? Is there any way to remove only msg app?

I've been through some serious root problems. When I root successfully. I have flash cook rom 4.2 JB and memory partitions in the device's successful I lost root. Luckily I have TWRP 2.5.0.0. Then I tried to re-root your device by supersu.zip but without success. I also use framaroot failed. I finally copied the su binary file in system / xbin and copy files supersu.apk in system / app but I still can not get root. So how to root this device. My device is lenovo-p770 rom: 4.2 JB

Hi. Did you set the permitions read write to your su binary and supersu apk?
Set like that with root explorer:
SuperSU
To Read colomn
Mark owner
Mark group
Mark others
To Write colomn
Mark Write
Su Binary
To Read colomn mark all
To Write colomn mark owner
To Execute mark all
Then mark Set UID and Set GID
After that restart your phone.

Hi guys, need a bit of help.
I have rooted my phone previously but did not like it so I flashed the stock rom with Odin. This left my device status as modified. Since it is modified I cannot get software updates.
Recently, I had to flash jellybean for my phone as it would not update ota or through kies. Now when pressing check for update in settings, it sais "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available".
Is there anyway to change the device status back to normal without wiping data? If not, how can I backup all my data so it can be restored? Samsung kies crashes when trying to backup apps and I'm not sure if mobile go backs up app data.
I am using the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3, if that helps.
Thanks in advance

Root again, and run triangle away, then flash stock again via Odin and wipe data from recovery.
This removes all evidence of root and you will be completely stock with a binary counter of 0.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I did run triangle away before when my phone was rooted.
How do I wipe data from recovery?
Will it wipe all my user data?

Far simpler to join xda users and flash a stock rom via CHECKFUS .

The problem is that I have no proper way to backup my data so I can restore it after I wipe data (mainly app data as other data backs up in kies)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
XDA Developers way .
root phone then backup via recovery .
Backup EFS folder
Purchase Titanium backup pro from the market and backup apps .
Also backup your contacts and any MP3 /Video can be copied to PC .
Download and save original firmware via Checkfus .
Update by flashing any stock rom or custom rom .

Just a quick question I didn't find an answer to there. When restoring data with titanium backup, do I still need to be rooted? I understand that backing up requires root though.

Dude, i dont know if sdk is a good/easy option. But try Nandroid Backup on play store.
But the problem is that all these apps from the play store that backup your device require root and I want my phone unrooted after restoring it. Those apps do require root to restore data right? If not then I am willing to use them.

i've used very simple method.
1) connect usb to pc - then select internal memory copy to sd card.
2) for some data will not show any items if connect via usb.But you still can move via file manager such as "solid explorer".Just select file and copy to sd card.It might take a little bit longer.
..i'm already done more than 20 times chg status modified to normal.Just ensure you use proper step as adviced by Xda senior..

So when restoring data do you just copy it back onto the phone?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Hi guys, I've left this topic off for a while but I'm back with new questions.
I have now found Holo Backup (Simple ADB Backup) to backup my phone without any rooting or complicated stuff. I wanna know that if I backup my device with its device status modified, will it still show modified when I restore it?
Also has anyone with an S3 successfully backed up and restored their phone using holo backup and if so what was the size of backup file. When I tried mine it came up with a file slightly over 1gb which doesn't seem right seeing as I have about 10gb internal data and 10gb of data on my micro sd.
Thanks in advance

Use Framaroot to root your phone (!!with SuperSU!!) after reflasing, use Titanium Backup to restore the apps and systemapp-data....
After you did it, go to SuperSU, go to settings and tap on Unroot.... Your device state will be NORMAL after that!
I rooted my phone months ago but suddenly today I noticed when trying to make a backup with Titanium backup, a few weeks after my most recent backup, that the app lost it's root rights. Normally this wouldn't be a problem because when an app needs root access a pop-up display asks you if you want to grant or deny access. But since the pop-up wasn't showing up either I started searching on my phone for the superuser app. All settings seemd correct, also the premission manager which comes default with MIUI rom looked ok.
To keep the story short, I eventually found out that my phone lost it's root rights. Don't know why... perhaps a new kernel I tried the other day but even then it would be weird that my phone has suddenly unrooted.
So I tried rooting my phone again using Odin. I got all the confirmation messages I used to get after the rooting proces has completed so I re-ran Titanium backup. But this time after a few seconds I got a message onscreen that the root rights had been denied! I checked Superuser app and the log area showed me the same but I can't seem to find out why I keep getting this message instead of the regular Grant/Deny root access pop-up box.
I eventually even tried unrooting my phone. Then re-root using Odin including flashing of CWM touch and Superuser app. Still the same problem: every root based app I try (even typing "su" in the terminal) gets a toaster saying root access denied without even an option to grant or deny root access to this app.
What is happing with my SGS3 and how can I get my root access back to working state?

I believe the Carbon backup app from Koush doesn't require root, and there are other ADB backup tools out there, just search.

You can't uninstall SuperUser in Root Explorer because it will be the one giving you Root Permissions
If you want to update it, do it via Play Store

Am trying to get my sgp512 so that titanium backup will work. My initial symptom was that TB would not recognize the free space on the SD card. I have found that I need to run a kitkat SD card fixer to fix this.
When I go to run it, it fails. I read the supersu logs and it says (system) mount failed.
I go to root explorer and try to mount system as r/w and it fails as well. According to the supersu logs the mounting permission is denied.
I run rootchecker and it says I have root.
Any thoughts on how I can fix this?
