Teach you how to stream videos from pc to mobile device
Recently, I have found a solution about how to stream videos from pc to mobile device. I think this is a so interesting technology that I can freely enjoy movies in anywhere of my house by my iPhone or iPad. Now I will share it with you and show you how to set up it in detail. Hope this can help you and enrich your home entertainment.
Take Android Phone as an example.
1. Share your movie folder
Take Folder ‘HD Movie’ as an example: right-click -> ’Properties’ -> ‘Sharing Tab’
2. Connect VidOn Player to Your PC
Download VidOn Player to your mobile device.
Make sure your PC and Mobile device are in the same LAN
Run App-> Click to open ‘Network Share’-> Click ‘+’ icon-> Choose ‘Windows Share/Samba’.
Then enter your IP address, PC’s user name & Password –> Click ‘√’
If your computer does not require user name & Password to login, just click ‘√’ and done.
3. Enjoy HD Movies
Select the Server which you just added to browse. Then the files will be seen. Click the file, you can see all HD movies of it.
To Play ‘Thor’, just select the filename.
Now, enjoy HD movie on your mobile device.
The method is very easy. Can you get it?

I have just found out how easy it is to stream audio & video to your PPC over wifi, I'm currently using the same principles to stream video to the XDA when in the cradle. You can even stream live TV !!
I thought I'd let you guys know how simple it is to do, so here goes.
There are many different ways of streaming Unreal media server etc... I have only tried using Windows Media Encoder and have great results.
Step 1) Download & Install windows media encoder 9 series from M$: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx
Step 2) Load WMEncoder and select custom session, the first page you are presented with is source selection, select devices if you wish to stream from a capture card (for live tv) for file to stream from a video file on your PC.
Step 3) Select the Output tab and click the checkbox for Pull from encoder
Step 4) Select the compression tab and click Pocket PC from the drop down box for the destination option, then select your desired audio and video settings... then click Apply.
Step 5) Check internet connectivity on your Pocket PC when either connected to cradle or WIFI
Step 6) Click Start Encoding in WMEncoder....
Step 7) Open Window Media Player on your Pocket PC and click Tools; Open URL, enter the IP address of your PC thats running WMEncoder (you can check this by clicking the Connections tab in WMEncoder while its running) Eg: If my PC's address was 192.168.0.50 I would enter http://192.168.0.50:8080 into WMPlayer, then click OK.
Step 8) Sit back and listen to / watch your media
I hope this helps someone..
does the xda1 also support wi-fi? how? thanks!
No AFAIK only the XDA2 supports WIFI via a SDIO WIFI card..
Ohh..yeah..cool!!!
Now I can stream TV channels, radios, from my Server pc..to my notebook or ppc!
cool
Playack is choppy
Everything worked well. But, the playback is choppy. Also, when I connect to the URL the device connects to my WAP network. The streaming is over my wireless network though. Any reaso why the playback is choppy
Is the XDA trying to connecting through its GPRS or something? That could be why its so choppy..
You need to make sure that your connection settings are on "My Work Network" or something similar.... then your XDA shouldn't attempt to make any connection, it will just use the cradle.
Thanks
Cool i am going to try it now
This works well for bluetooth too. Just activesync over bluetooth and use the bluetooth ip instead of activesync's. With full options playback is choppy - but its due to the processing speed. Overclocking eliminates choppiness
Would this not work better with Bluetooth using the new Generic Audio Video Distribution Profile (GAVDP)?
I usually don't make any fuss over apps, but this one kicks too much but.
It's a media player, which plays all your usual formats. (no 1080p)
What makes this app really awesome, besides its free, is its built in lan support and ability to play movies inside rar files.
It also automatically searches for subtitles and downloads them, even over lan play!
Check it out, it's on the market with support for tegra 2.
I am using it and it is the best really. Is there a paid version and what is diff between free?
Sent from Galaxy Tab 10.1 powerd by dark AOSP
I haven't found a payed version. Think so far its only ad supported.
The greatest player there is right now (nov 2011)
Market link
I have a setup at home that uses a NAS connected to the router to enable my PS3, my laptops and my Android devices to access videos and music from the entire house. THE issue that my Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 never has been able to show the videos from the NAS (streamed from the network to my tab that is).
This player has changed that completely. NOW it just simply works beautifully!
It also black out the bottom bar while playing, like the stock video player.
Sent from my GT-P7510
I don't have any problems with the stock video player.
stock doesn´t play mkv files.
i only know dice player witch can play mkv.but it´s a paid app.
this is the best player for free ! but the best option ist the lan mode.its possible to stream 720p videos without lag !the code engine is verry good.
i bought dice player and BSplayer one up's it other than i dont like the UI.
so guys mx player vs BS player vs Dice player ...
which it the best
In terms of player performance,
Dice wins hands down - seriously impressive performance no matter what I throw at it.
But Lan Mode on BS Player!! DAMN!!
now thats impressive! - can play anything.
noob question, how do you setup the lan mode?

You need to make sure you are connected to your local wi-fi network and you have shared video folders on a connected PC.
Then click on Lan Mode (menu button )
and enter the details for the computer you want to connect to - either by ip address or computer name
also enter the usernamme and password of a user with priviledges to the shared folder.
Once you do that you will be able to connect to all of the videos in that folder.
What I find amazing is just how well videos stream using this
to the point that you dont have to actually copy movies to your phone when you are at home.
Its very well put together.
you can also save playlists of movies on your remote server

I just bought XMen First-Class on Blueray. It contains a Digital Copy which can be used according to the box both on Windows Media devices and Android devices. I have transfered the official digital copy to my Galaxy tab with no problem, but the file won't play.
What can be wrong? Fox claims that copy can be view on Android are Fox lying to me?
What format is the digital copy in?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
if you downloaded the digital copy to your pc first and then transferred it to your tab it will not work, because you would have used the 1 license when downloading to the PC. There should have been instructions on how to transfer the digital copy directly to your android tab via pocket blu app or something similar

Its in Mp4 format. I tried with the player that came with the tablet and tried to two different Mp4 players which I downloaded from Android Marked and it still won't play.
And I followed the instructions on howto transfer it directly from the DVD to the Android device.

See previous post, you activated it on your PC then tried copying it to your SGT. So it is activated and thats that. Legally you have to buy another copy of the movie

the only way to transfer the digital copy which came on a dvd with the blueray was to place the dvd into the dvd-drive on my pc.
Then the following dialog box appeared.
"Would like to view the movie on your mobile device or pc?".
I selected mobile device.
"Is it an Android or Windows Mobile device?". I selected Android.
It then asked me to to enter the code which was on a label in the back of the blueray cover" which I did.
Then the program on the dvd detected detected my Galaxy tab 10.1 as it was connected to the pc and transfered the movie to tab.
I followed the instructions to the point. Then there must be a serious bug in Fox's bluerays digital copy software???

I believe the reason why you could'nt get it to work is because you are rooted? I just
attempted to get my digital copy of RIo movie onto my tab. After going through the steps a pop up screen came up.... See attachment below.
only other way to get a copy onto your tab is to use a program to burn it then tranfer.

Ha ha -- and then they blame people for using torrents. They make it so difficult to even watch a movie they have sold you!
BTW, have they stated on the box that you can't watch the movie on a rooted device?
You have to download foxdigitalcopy app from market. Then it will work.

This doesn't work. When you are trying to download the digital copy per directions on how to transfer it from Pocket blu app it will still have the can't download movie because you are rooted. Fox digital copy only works when you have the movie already in your tablet then once located then it will grant it privileges. At least that's what I think it does.

It turned out that the whole Fox Digital Copy software on DVD that the feature which should allow you to transfer directly to Android phone/tablet doesn't work, according to Fox.
I got this from FOX and it works and I can play the film on the tablet
Hello Sir, you cannot do a direct transfer to a tablet. If you are using a non-Apple device, you must first transfer the digital copy with the code into Windows Media Player and sync it to your tablet so Windows Media Player can convert it properly for your device. The code is only for use in Windows Media Player. You do not need another code to sync it to your tablet or device when synced properly.
Please follow the appropriate instructions:
For Windows
1. Place the disc in your optical drive
2. Close any windows that automatically opens
3. Open My Computer/Computer
4. Explore the digital copy disc (view the files on the disc)
5. Open the DVDROM folder
6. Open the Media folder
7. Copy the movie file which contains PC in the file name to a location where you keep your movies on your computer (Do not put it on an external drive)
8. After the file has been transferred to your computer, double click on the movie file that is now on your computer
9. Windows Media Player should launch and request the serial number (make sure you have a valid working internet connection to verify the code)
10. After you have received a license, it will say click play to start the movie.
For iTunes
1. Launch your iTunes first (make sure there is no disc in the drive)
2. Insert the disc into your PC or Laptop
3. Close the auto play (pop up) window when it opens (will not be using it for transfer)
4. Double click on the movie title (Under DEVICES in the ITunes Window on the left hand side)
5. Enter the serial number (numbers only no dashes)
You should be prompted to enter your iTunes Store User Name and Password, please do not remove the disc until the transfer has completed.
Please ensure that your portable device is compatible with digital copy and Windows Media Player before attempting transfer (DOES NOT APPLY IF USING iTunes). For a list of devices other than iPods and iPhones that are compatible with digital copy please visit playsforsure.com. If your device is not listed here it is not compatible and the copy will not transfer. Devices that are listed may still require additional software from the manufacturer before the digital copy will transfer or play. Please research any device you wish to transfer digital copy to for compatibility issues.
Sony PSP and Microsoft Zune are not compatible with digital copy; all concerns with these two devices must be directed to the respective manufacturer.
For A Portable Device Transfer:
You must first transfer the digital copy into Windows Media Player or iTunes and then sync the movie to your device through Windows Media Player or ITunes so the program can convert the movie for correct playback on your device. Most players support MPEG4 (MP4), AVI or Real Player, some devices also support WMV, but not protected WMV (DRM). If your device supports DRM WMA, this is not the same and digital copy will not transfer. You may also require additional software from the manufacturer to convert the file to one the player supports. Please contact the manufacturer of your device to verify if it supports this file format, if it does not, your device is incompatible for transfer.
Many devices which cannot transfer digital copy through Windows Media Player can transfer files through the pocketblu app or media go app. Please consult with the manufacturer of your device to see if this is an option for your Digital Copy transfers as well.
You may read more information on this type of transfer here: http://www.pocketblu.com/DigitalCopy.aspx <http://www.pocketblu.com/DigitalCopy.aspx>
You may read more information about media go transfers here:http://mediago.sony.com/enu/introduction/ <http://mediago.sony.com/enu/introduction/>
For Windows Media Center Device Transfer:
Please ensure that your portable device supports protected (DRM) WMV formats before attempting transfer (DOES NOT APPLY IF USING iTunes).
1. Please verify that your device supports protected (DRM) WMV video before attempting transfer.
2. Transfer digital copy to Windows Media Player
3. Connect portable device after transfer has completed
4. Open Windows Media Player
5. "Click" on the "SYNC" button/tab
6. Click on Fox Digital Copy (under playlist)
7. Select the movie title and drag the digital copy to the sync list
8. Click start sync (if it does not do so automatically)
If you receive an error message that state your do not have enough rights or are missing codec files please contact your device manufacturer for assistance. Otherwise you should receive confirmation that the file is being converted, please do not interrupt the process as it may take several minutes
The digital copy should now be viewable on your portable device.
For Apple Device Transfer:
The process is simple, just go into your ITunes movie folder once you have transferred the digital copy into iTunes, locate the movie, connect your device (which should show up on the left hand side in ITunes) and just drag the movie from your ITunes movie folder onto your device. The movie will transfer and be ready to play. This is for Apple devices only (i.e. iPod, iPad, iPhone, etc.). All other brands of devices would transfer through Windows Media Player so make sure you transfer the digital copy into Windows Media Player and do not transfer the digital copy into iTunes if this is the case.
You can only transfer the digital copy to iTunes OR Windows Media Player but not both because the code is good only once and both programs require the code for the transfer.

X Men: First Class digital copy serial code
Hello I noticed that you transferred the X Men: First Class disc to your portable device, I was wondering if you still had the serial code because mine seems to have gone missing? Please, it would be a big help, thanks.
This is a guide on how to put movies into your PC and having it to stream over to your device.
WHY ?
Of course we can definitely place movies into our device local SDCard and play through it but when you have a huge collection of movies, you would rather want to stream movies across than having to copy each movie and play it with under the restriction of your SDCard capacity.
WHAT DO I NEED ?
1) Software: TVMOBILI (http://www.tvmobili.com)
2) Wireless Network in which both your PC and HTC EVO 3D are connected to
3) Optional Software: HANDBRAKE (http://handbrake.fr)
HOW TO DO IT ?
A. SETUP YOUR PC
===============
1) Download and install TVMOBILI from the following website (http://www.tvmobili.com). It supports Windows, Mac and Linux as well. This software will be your streaming server (DLNA Compliant). Alternatively you can also use Windows Media Player as an DLNA server but I wont be covering on how to setup on that.
2) Once TVMobili had been installed, launch it by clicking on the TVMobili icon. It will launch TVMobili on your standard web browser
3) Add your movies into the server by clicking on the CONTENT icon and followed by ADD MORE CONTENT
4) Follow the steps provided and browse to the folders in which you had stored all your video files
*Refer screenshot 1*
B. STREAM TO YOUR DEVICE
=======================
1) Launch GALLERY from your HTC EVO 3D
2) You would see a list of local hosted content but we are interested in what's being hosted on the PC instead. Click on the WORD "Albums" on top and you will get a dropdown list of content source (Albums, Facebook, Flickr, Media Servers, Picasa Web Albums)
3) Select Media Servers and it will search for the list of DLNA servers in your network (Make sure you're connected to the WIFI network before doing so or it may not find the TVMobili server)
4) Your TVMobili server will be shown as TVMOBILI: where is the name of your PC. Click on it
5) Click on My Content and browse to the files you want to watch and it will stream over to your device
STREAMING 3D
============
You may be able to get your hands on 3D movies but using the above method may land you with a movie being played side by side. The only solution that I know of now is to re-encode the movie with additional settings by using HandBrake. The additional settings ":frame-packing=3" needs to be placed under the Advanced tab of HandBrake.
