Anyone know if there's a working firmware/radio root yet for the One Max on VZW yet? (Currently running 4.4.2 OTA)

No? As far as I knew there wasn't a working root available for the Verizon version of the One Max since they block it.

When I asked an HTC rep they said it was the final approved version from AT&T. Was wondering if anyone else has the phone already and has gained root access with the original software version that came with the pre release devices.
Thanks in advance

Gotta find a way to unlock the bootloader before you can root it.

For now
Unlocked the bootloader through HTCdev today, and then rooted it. Was really easy.
Though I imagine since AT&T has said that the bootloader will eventually not be allowed to be unlocked, that it'll probably be nice to get it done sooner than later once you get your device.
HTC will block it per ATT instructions. Better unlock asap lol

Can someone confirm this

I used the toolkit to flash CWM as my recovery, then manually flashed SU through recovery.

Think I might do that. Can you post the SU zip?
You use the same recovery for the international version ?

I used SuperSU from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
There is a link for a flashable ZIP file that worked perfectly with the HTC One.
Whatever CWM recovery came with that toolkit in the international forums is what I used.
I believe technically, the international and AT&T One devices are the same, so almost anything in the international forum should also work with the AT&T One.

thanks ! but i feel like there is no need to flash a rom over this, i understand people want to make it custom and add certain things to it but the main reason why i flashed always was to find a rom that makes the phone work.. my previous phones all have had major issues -.- (the captivate being te worse)

Did anyone have the link to download this OTA from HTC or the actual zip they received? I've had mine for 2 weeks & still stuck on 1.26.502.6. Would like to get on 1.26.502.10 without rooting. Thanks!

Why not root and unlock the bootloader? It's not like you can't put it back to stock. Then you'd be on the latest and greatest.
Someone asked me to upload this...
Its boot and system backed up from TWRP 2.5. I also have the system dump if you want / need it. If so let me know...
UPDATE: There is now an RUU out so I feel this thread has served its purpose. I am going to close it on down but leave the files up...
ATT HTC One Stock TWRP Back Up.7z
I hope someone finds this useful!
Using TWRP 2.5 you can restore your device to 99.9% stock :highfive:
Info
The file is in 7zip format.
Its not flashable.
Upzip it and copy the TWRP folder to your device.
Use the Restore menu from twrp to return to stock
Best we have untill someone shares the stock RUU
The stock rooted roms located here (http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=87) are installable via twrp though right?
What build version is this?

Then pick a Rom of your choice from the DNA forums and flash with the latest TWRP. If your s-on you will need to flash boot.img via fastboot for a Rom to boot. I'm a gsm carrier myself and I'm on the latest kit Kat sense.

Yeah I figured that's the cleanest choice. What Rom are you on? I'm downloading viperDNA 4.4.2 sense 5.5 atm

S-off allows you to flash almost everything on the DNA , and with it you don't need to flash boot.img via fastboot... And why worry about OEM OTA's, devs here will make a flashable Rom with the ota

Should I unroot first if I want to accept the 4.4.3 OTA update from Verizon?
My VZW Note 2 was rooted via Saferoot. Then I disabled SDM and FWupgrade by renaming them to *.bak.
I don't mind resetting everything to factory default. If I do that, should I unroot as well?
Thanks!
nope you shouldnt have to unroot. However, do understand that there is a chance that you cannot root in the future with 4.4 due to Knox 2.0. We just have to hope developers find a new way to root/unlock bootloader.

Thanks! That exactly what confuses me right now.
If I don't unroot and turn on SDM/FWupgrade to allow 4.4.3 OTA update to
be installed on my rooted Note 2,will the rooting disappear afterwards?
(going back to rooted state by itself?)
Or will the Note 2 remain rooted?
Thanks!

There is no 4.4.3 Ota. Only 4.4.2. And yes you will lose root. It's not currently rooted.
Never take the OTA's. Just wait for one of the ROM developers to make a ROM based on the OTA.

yeah, I meant 4.4.2
If my Galaxy Note 2 is currently rooted, it will not lose root after 4.4.2 is installed. Is this correct?

Once you update using the OTA 4.4, you WILL LOSE root.
If your phone came with 4.3, then it is not possible to flash another rom since the bootloader is locked. Root is possible though.

Hi ...
I have HTC One Max Verizon:
Bootloader Locked and S-ON
Hboot 2.49.0000
Radio-1.36.60.0520
Android 4.4.2
HTC Sense 6.0
All I want is to enable Hotspot and tethering by anymeans (rooting or not) , also I like to upgrade my android
A RUU rom would be perfect and easy for me
Thanks alot (you are always being helpfull) .

Verizon One Max never got lollipop. You are stuck on KitKat 4.4.2. Since you are S-ON, the only way to tether is to get a plan from Verizon. If you want to freely tether, you need to root using sushine s-off. $25

Would a RUU rom root the device for me, or what it would do ?
