Help with full reset of Razr - Motorola Droid RAZR

My wife and I both have original Droid Razrs (XT912). We just switched to T-mobile (with new phones) and she was reading about switching phones and she read where you should do a full factory reset to clear personal data...and, she did.
The problem is, I had her phone rooted and have Safestrap installed. So, now we have a phone that is not rooted, but still has Safestrap installed.
The good things are that it is no longer a daily driver and the phone still works fine.
My question: since the phone is no longer rooted (tried VooDoo...no dice...backup was gone), is there a good way to do a full restore of the phone to factory and remove Safestrap, so the phone is back to full factory?
I am including a screenshot of the phone information.
Thanks.

My stock rom on my razr shows I lost root back in Nov but I have cm 10 on rom slot 2 and the root checker app shows full root access but I cant install updates so im interested in a restore also, the droid razr utility was my go to for these issues but ive moved to a new device so im not sure if there is an update

Use Matt's utility. Find it in the Dev section. You can flash stock JB 4.1.2 with it. It will revert your phone to stock.

Safe to restore nandroid to replacement RAZR?

Getting a replacement RAZR from VZW because my current one has a broken magnetometer. Current phone is rooted and I'm going to root the replacement. Can I restore the nandroid backup from the old phone to the new one safely? Should I restore everything or just /data, /boot, /cache and not /system (by using advanced restore option in CWM). Please don't conjecture if you've never personally done this.
Thanks!

Same phone to the same phone. Should be completely fine. Just a thought, some people know what they're talking about without ever having to actually do said task. Just a thought.

Excellent. I'm going for it and will report on the results.
A web search for answers to this question results in responses mostly saying never to do such a thing or you'll blow the roof off your house.
Nandroid restore successful
My full nandroid restore from my defective old RAZR to a new replacement RAZR running the same ROM (standard OTA 2.3.6) was successful. Here's how I did it:
Backed up the old RAZR using Bootstrap Recovery app-->CWM. Before I did this, I was sure to "Delete su backup" in Voodoo Rootkeeper app. [If this isn't done and you've used Voodoo to preserve su, you won't be able to restore /system to the new device. CWM will fail at this step. Workaround is to go into Advanced Restore and manually restore everything except /system. This will work.]
After swapping cards and setting up the new RAZR, confirming it was running the latest OTA, I used mattlgrof's RAZR Utility 1.42, option 2 to root device (set phone on Charge Only, and allow USB debugging). After successful root, I immediately chose option 5 to install Bootstrap Recovery app. I then checked the newly installed Superuser app on the new RAZR to be sure I had the latest su file.
Then, Bootstrap Recovery reboot into CWM and a full restore of the latest backup I made with the old RAZR. After reboot, a couple of aftermarket apps had lost their data, but everything else was exactly like the old RAZR--perfect!

Glad you got it and thanks for posting an update!

I should also mention that the replacement phone VZW sent me was brand new, even though it was stickered as a refurb. Tech support told me the replacements are pulled right off the factory floor but have to be called refurbs for warranty purposes. The device is not only looking and working like it's brand spanking new, the screen is almost entirely free of the blotches my original RAZR had in dim light on blank screen.

[Q] Safestrap 3.11 stock not booting

on ota JB Leak OTA stock.
using safestrap 3.11
rooted.
Yesterday my sound on razr maxx stopped working. Sound profile was up all the way and could make phone calls but speaker was not working.
I read I needed to restore my backup of rom because of the sound problem.
when I restored the system to the stock it would get past safestrap but then it would just blackscreen and vibrate once.
My backup did not work at all on the stock partition. I even tried a factory reset, clearing everything, cache, dalvik, system, etc and it still wouldn't restore.
So then I decided to create another rom slot and try to restore my backup it worked perfectly without an issue and booted right up.
Keep in mind this is with the stock ota jb release, not another version.
My question is how do I get the stock partition back. I tried reflashing the ota update but it needs the ics rom to update. Is there a jelly bean ota that doesn't verify the partition before installing?
Thanks a million!!!
Use this: JB xt912 unbrick utility
then use Razr Blade Root Exploit to gain root again
start all over with ss 3.11
I cannot get my phone into recovery. It will not go back to recovery so I can flash the rom. It just sits there with the android guy laying down for about 3 minutes then doesn't do anything and I have to reset it.

[Q] Razr Proper Restore

Hey guys,
This question may have been asked already, but I had no luck in searching for it so forgive me if it has.
I need to return my Razr Maxx to stock and unroot so that I can get rid of it as I just upgraded a couple days ago.
A few notes first:
Stock rom is on latest OTA.
I am currently on Safestrap 3.11.
I have CM 10.2 in rom slot1.
I also have the JBX kernel.
I know that latter two don't really matter, but I believe after reading that the way to go about this is to :
1. Switch to un-safe mode (aka activate stock rom)
2. Load up stock and open safestrap and tell it to un-install.
3. Remove safestrap apk.
4. Unroot
I've also read that I could just use Matt's utility to flash the stock firmware back onto the phone, but will this remove the recovery as well? Please advise, thanks.
You can try either method.
Though in my opinion, using Matt's utility is better coz it reflashes your stock ROM and cleans everything.

So by clean everything, does that include removing the recovery?
It will not remove the stock recovery.
But it will remove Safestrap.

[Q] Help please! Need to re-root phone with cm11.

Model xt912 Razr Maxx "verizon"
I used "razr_blade_zip" to root phone. Followed instructions and worked fine. Then installed "safestrap" 3.65. Then went to recovery mode and created a back-up. Then installed cm11-20131126 unofficial-spyder and google app package. Rebooted and everything worked well. I did notice cell signal was low. After I installed a few basic rooted apps to increase network speed like "example Faster Gps". Still so far so good. Here is when things went wrong. After reading about SuperSu I decided to install it and missed a step. I ended up unrooting my in phone. I can't use Safestrap to install back-up. I'm not sure what a hard reset will do. I have googled issue but no real answer on fixing this. Thanks for any help!!!!!
Did you install CM on stock slot?
Assuming you did.
You can't restore stock backup to the stock slot.
That's a limitation with SS.

Find and download Matt's Utility to your PC. I'm sure it has a thread on this forum somewhere. Your going to have to do a complete reset on your phone most likely, but if you follow the instructions you should be able to get back to stock jellybean again and start over.
Thanks for the response

No I installed CM 11 on ROM 1. I left the stock ROM alone. I just can't get back to Safestrap because I no longer rooted. Overall phone is working great. But I still want the option to unroot if needed. Thanks for any feedback!

Can't flash to stock and get rid of safestrap

My friend was tinkering with his phone and screwed something up. He was set up running cm11 on romslot1 with safestrap. I don't know what he to screw everything up but right now I can't get it back to stock.
I used matt's utility which completes but Safestrap is still there after complete wipe and keeps not booting into stock. We have tried going into the recovery and deleting the romslot and manually deleting all safestrap data but it is like it keeps restoring itself upon reboot.
Safestrap settings flat out just don't stick.. I can boot into cm11 still which is it. If I install an app and reboot the app is gone like nothing ever happened.
I also tried wiping internal storage and it does not let me. How can I get safestrap off this SOB and return it to stock. I'm out of ideas..
turn your phone on, start safe strap and uninstall safe strap from the app and not from the app drawer/management when safe strap is uninstalled the boot to recovery should be greyed out then you reboot your phone normally it should restart on the stock rom
hope this helps
also when your friend screwed your phone up he may have lost the root explode so check phone to see if it still is rooted
cheers eggster
No this isn't working. I can't boot into stock at all to uninstall safestrap. The phone's internal storage is stuck in read only mode which is probably why everytime I factory reset it safestrap stays behind. I also can't even update the cm11 rom. It just restores the same image everytime you boot so if you install and app and restart the app is gone.
you can try flashing back JB 4.1.2 to the stock rom through fast boot and by using RSD lite which is a motorola utility tool for flashing roms
do a little research in the xda forums to use RSD lite
once you have a working rom again and rooted you can then install safe strap and run it to install cm11 4.4.2 into rom slot 1
hope this helps
cheers eggster
Any help to flash back to stock with ubuntu
any way to use sbf_flash to get back to stock JB 4.1.2? I have flashed other phones with sbf but this one needs a xml file in rsd lite. Do I just sbf flash the phone like any other droid?

You should be able to.
I would try the updated Droid Razr Utility though (has updates to SS and the last phone update). Link to the forum is here. I had problems the last muck up I did on my phone and with the older version I kept having issues with SS and other stuff like Rom Slot 1 corrupting on a boot into SS.

My problem is that the internal storage is read only. I have not had luck with sbf or the droid razr utility.
Sounds like a rsd time.

RSD works to get the phone back to stock yes.. however it does not wipe the internal storage currently stuck as READ ONLY... so after I wipe with RSD and reboot it goes right back into romslot-1 on safestrap.. where nothing can be deleted and no changes can be saved..
Hi there, i have one problem with my xt912, when I install stock rom, with rsd lit or razr blade, boots normally, has a good signal, but cant send or receive sms and calls, or if I'll receive sms, its after half an hour or such, can u guys tell me what to do? I am gsm user, and i have tried several stock roms, but same result
that's very weird... everytime I need to use RSD, it wipes completely my phone, removing SU,SS and restoring my stock JB rom. But, have you selected Stock slot on SS to boot on it? and have you mount your /system folder?
