I just got my Asus Prime from Taiwan yesterday after a month of waiting (my first tablet!!!). Out of the box my prime updated itself automatically to ICS and it all went smoothly. So far no screen flickering that others have mentioned. But now i have tried to connect 3 USB hard drives to my dock and none of them have been recognized, the lights on the HD turn on but after about 2 min. it turns off. All 3 of my USB devices are samsung. When i tried to connect my ps3 controller to the dock , nothing happens??!!! HElp would be greatly appreciated! Im a noob btw lol....

Have you tried rebooting. A lot of people have found that after attaching stuff to the dock for the first time it didn't work, but they rebooted it and it worked for them. Something about the dock did an update.
Thanx for that info but i have tried rebooting several times with the dock and USB connected and without the USB connected. But what explains the reason for my ps3 controller not working? ( My dock version is " TF201-DOCK-0206 " ----if that helps at all. )
That's what mine is at and I use my PS3 controller just fine. Have you tried hitting the center button on the controller. I know I was having problems as well until I hit that button. You know it works if the screen that you are on goes back to the home screen.
OMW!!!!!!!!!! WHAT ARE THE CHANCES.....!!! while i was replying i decided to plug my external and it worked!!!! my ps3 controller too!!!! Ive been trying this whole day to get them to work and out of the blue they work lol! thanx again for all for help anyway!!
No problem. Hopefully this helps others out as well.
Hello, a while ago you buy a tablet g2 Chinese Stealth Trio my daughter, everything was fine for now the tablet does not turn off and turn on but when connected to usb sound when any USB device connected to the computer, read by all sides regarding this tablet is a clone of another tablet, would like to help me see if I can save, to revive again, because first Frozen stayed in the logo after he refused to turn over but the connect usb pressed the button off and the volume up or down and it sounds like you recognize the usb. how could revive it and thanks for your support:

Hey guys, just picked up two of these for $12.97 each at my local gamestop local store:
http://www.amazon.com/Playpad-Andro...d=1417915533&sr=8-1&keywords=nyko+playpad+pro
They work great with asphalt, Mupen64 and everything I've thrown at them, nice controllers imho, check them out. The hell with paying $40 for controllers, these babies rock.

yes, got two paired, have not tried multiplayer yet, but both work just fine
You forgot to mention it has a mouse function built in! Easier to map buttons without adding a mouse and otg cable!!

So I got it paired but I can't get the controller to work for the games. The buttons don't do what they are supposed to. Is there way to adjust it? I'm using it in app mode

Switch to hid mode, some apps allowu to rebind keys, there is an app from the manufacturer called nyko playground that could possibly be sideloaded
Can't Pair
I bought two from Amazon and can't pair either. I unboxed one and left it charging for almost a day (overnight + during work) and the lights were cycling before I pulled it off the charger. The manual or FAQ on the site didn't offer a fix so I started hitting random buttons and.....the lights went off but I couldn't get them to come back on until I put it back on the charger then the same light cycling began. I poked around on the site and found a firmware update. I updated the firmware and I still have the same pattern. I realized during the firmware updating process that the light cycling is update mode which should require pressing UP + A + Reset, which I definitely did not do prior to upgrading. That night I charged the other for a full day (overnight + during work) and I immediately encountered the same pattern. I'll probably return them in two days unless someone posts a solution. :crying:

Did you get a chance to try it? I read online (amazon reviews) that the 2nd controller pairs but they can't seem to get the second Nyko Playpad to go into two player mode (MAME).
I love this controller and for $12.67 it is a nice deal. I don't want to get a second one if it doesn't work for 2 players.
Did you ever figure out this controller? Had the same issue but I figured it out and its not as clear cut as the directions state so if you need help just reply or send me a pm and I will walk you through how to get the controller to work.

I just received mine and I'm having the same issue as above. Any chance you could help?
To update firmware or not? Might want to read this first
Hi all,
tl:dr / summary - Some Nyko Playpad Pros have issues with charging or arriving in update mode (cycling all lights when charging). Updating the Nyko Playpad Pro firmware sometimes fixes the issue, sometime not. Even if you get a good one, you may not want to update the firmware anyway.
I've been looking for an active forum to post this info in and get help from. Reddit didn't seem to have any good threads dedicated to the Nyko Playpad Pro, and Nyko's website is pretty much useless.
Here's my story. I bought one Playpad Pro from Amazon and when it arrived I read the sticker that said to charge it for an hour minimum before use. I have plenty of micro-USB chargers so instead of using the included one I charged it via my phone cable. As soon as I plugged it in all the lights on the controller started cycling. I hadn't read the directions yet so I didn't know this was odd. Went back and read the instructions and decided to use the included charging cable. Did that and the cycling stopped so I let it charge.
After it was done charging (light was blinking) I tried to turn it on via the home button and it would light up while I held the button down, but as soon as I released it all the lights would go dark. If I connected it to the charger I could get it to turn on and stay on, but that was unacceptable.
Eventually I ran across some information about updating the firmware via PC so I tried that (did the whole UP + A + Reset thing to get into update mode) but it didn't fix the issue, so I returned it to Amazon.
I read a bunch of reviews on Amazon and there were a ton of complaints about units being DOA like mine. I liked the price of the Playpad Pro compared to others, though, and saw that those who got a good controller were very happy with it, so I decided to play the odds and ordered 3 more of them from Amazon, figuring I could return the ones that don't work or I don't need.
I got those 3 controllers earlier this week and I've only opened 2 of them because both of them are working. Both of them would pair with my Nexus 7 (2012) and Moto X (1st gen) out of the box, however they wouldn't connect again after cycling them off then on. I'd have to re-pair each controller each time I turned it on. And, the Nyko Playground app wouldn't recognize them to update the firmware (I eventually read elsewhere that you need an Android 4.1 device to run the firmware upgrade via Android). So instead I updated one of the controllers via the PC updater. The Nyko Playground app would then recognize the controller ("Controller Synced" displayed in green at the top-right of the app and allow me to update the firmware in the app). This solved the pairing issue, but I noticed that android recognized the controller differently after the update. In the BT settings the updated controller displayed with a keyboard icon, while the non-updated controller had a joystick icon.
The keyboard vs. joystick difference wouldn't be relevant until I started trying to use each controller in RetroArch. Even though performance was fine for the updated (keyboard icon) controller in the Android OS and other games, in RetroArch I experienced a significant lag/delay after pressing a button. Furthermore, the updated controller's left thumb-stick would not translate to D-pad movements. On the other hand, the non-updated controller (joystick icon, requires re-pairing at each power on) did not experience any lag within RetroArch, and the left thumb-stick could be used in place of the D-pad.
I'm pretty new to RetroArch so maybe there is a setting I could change to fix the lag and left thumb-stick issues? Or maybe there's a way I can have Android treat the updated controller as a joystick/gamepad instead of a keyboard? For now I'm jumping through the hoops of re-pairing the non-updated controller each time I power it on. Other than that the controller is great.

I bought two of these controllers from local gamestops for $13 bucks. their phasing them out. both do not work unless connected to a power supply. it seems they are so old that their batteries do not charge. some do not charge at all. I returned two of them. I would recommend staying away from these old controllers as I don't believe they have a long life expectancy. Just saying.
My playpad pro would not hold a charge and would only work if connected to a usb power supply. I decided to try an upgrade.
There is a firmware updater app in the playstore but it specifically says it can only be used on android 4.3. I uninstalled and found that the "nyko playground" app in the app store was for doing upgrades on all other andoroid os's not 4.3
I was able to get the firmware updated. Here is how I did it. ( iwas not able to confirm the update, just that it said it completed)
Select "controller setting on bottom switch of joystick. not mouse, not icad, and not app
I connected it to my rooted firetv. I physically connected to a hub connected to the usb port on the firetv. I also connected it via bluetooth to the firetv. I uninstalled "nyko firmware updated" and installed "nyko playground" I selected sync. I then used a mouse to select the IME and checked off the "nyko playpad" it then asked me to select a android or pc. I chose android. I selected updated. it took a minute. it said successful. it then asked me to unpair the device and disconnect from back to firetv and connect to separated powere\ supply. and then "bluetooth re-pair" the device.
we will see the device holds a charge now.

For me the firmware update did not help. My controller would power on with the home button held down, but power off as soon as I released the home button. The battery obviously had some sort of charge since the light on the face of the controller would light up, but maybe it wasn't enough output to actually keep working.
It sounds like your controller is similar but exhibiting slightly different behavior, do maybe it will work. Please post an update when you have one.
Good luck!

I gave up, got an RMA, bought 2 Gamestop Red Samurai controllers and haven't looked back. The Red Samurais paired instantly, hold a charge, and can be used to navigate menus on the Nexus Player.
thanks
Thanks for the advice.

Hello everyone, newb here. First off I woud like to thank everyone who contributed on how to root android tablets hee re, as I was able to root my Insignia flex 8 because of this site.
I do have a question about my Insignia. a few weeks back water spilled into the headphone jack, and no I didn't do anything special to dry it as I was at work, and of course it was powered on. Since then the power and volume buttons haven't worked (shorted I suppose), so I've always kept it charged and woke it up by inserting my micro sd card. As I feared would happen one day, the battery died and the tablet turned off before I could stick it on the charger. Of course the power button still doesnt work.
Since my tablet is rooted, is there a way I could use apk manager or something to power on my tablet from a pc? Give it a jolt or something? Will the pc software even recognize the tablet without it being powered on while plug in?
At this point anything will help. Thanks for everyones time and consideration.
Insignia Flex 8 black
duel core rockchip 1ghz?
First off I have a "IRULU X1047" and a "RCA Voyager" I rooted then with KingORoot after a few days they died. The IRULU was my replacement for the RCA and but this is the odd thing both of them when i connect them to the computer i can her the windows USB plugin sound and thin in about 30 sec I hear the USB disconnect sound and then in about 2 sec it makes the USB plugin sound and it keeps doing this. BUT the RCA If I hold the reset button with a paper clip will show the Charging pic for about 2-5 min then it will go black and not come back on.
I have the ADB driver installed and No they do not show up on ADB.
and used Tether but it was a no go.
I also used about 5 different USB cables
And on the RCA I tried opening the tablet and unplugging the battery for the mainbord and it did not help.
No they will not go in to recovery mode.
No screen ever pops up but for the with the batter when I do the rest button for the RCA thats it.
also fore the IRULU if open Device Manager and watch it when its pluged up the the USB and it makes the windows USB plugin sound This item shows up.

Note the RCA died when i was re-rooting it with KingORoot and when it rebooted it was bricked. The IRULU I was setting up the app LINK2SD
and just had moved some apps and was rebooting it and then i never came back on.
Thanks for all the help. I can fix almost any computer you place in my ands but im just lost with tablets and phones. My hopes are to get the IRULU back and running.
