I got my brand new s5 two weeks ago. Fingerprint scanner was working fine until now. I can't unlock my screen using fingerprint scanner anymore. It doesn't recognize my fingerprints. Also I can't change my fingerprint because it says my alternative password is wrong. And when I try to change my alternative password, I get this message on the screenshot.
Anybody else with this problem? Only fix I found was factory reseting. But I don't wanna do that every time I wanna fix this bug. Will this be updated soon? This is so frustrating. A flagship phone like this shouldn't have these type of critical bugs.

Is your S5 rooted? Running Custom Rom?
If not, is your fingerprint scanner covered by something? Dirt, Sweat, maybe plastic from a case your using?

Nope. Not rooted. Not covered by anything. The scanner just doesn't seem to work.

It's not a hardware issue, definitely a software issue. As I did a factory reset on the phone and its working perfectly now.

i guess if you "OK" with factory resetting your phone every so often.. otherwise, i would go to tmobile and have them warranty swap it.

I think you're probably right. But I've seen some other people on the Internet with this same issue, and a factory reset was the only way out for them as well.. I think I'll just get a new one after all

Reassuring that they're at least acknowledging the issue and are working on it. "Soon" is not reassuring though. Will make it much easier to clear wallet settings though, instead of having to mess with the build.prop all the time :s
Thoughts?
Meh, I've survived 48 years with a conventional wallet and currency, I can last another week or month or whatever without GW.

Those inactivity charges are going to eat into that 10 free dollars they gave out before disabling it.
Anyone else finds it ironic that google wallet dosen't support rooted devices, but the only way to make wallet work is to be rooted?
On a side note I like google wallet, but these are pretty bad growing pains hopefully google wallet can survive them.

Glad to see Google confirmed it for us, or else we might have never known whether it was actually a problem or not.

Mine just worked. I have been getting the Country/Carrier code and prior to that I was unable to activate the card. I just checked this morning and was able to do both. I am still running the stock build.prop.

Hopefully they turn you guys on soon. I just happened to randomly check this morning and mine worked.
Google Wallet told me on twitter that they are working with htc and sprint because it has to do with a nfc component on the phone.

Being rooted has never had anything to do with the problem. The only thing I know I did differently prior to it working was doing the marketplace error fix of unsynching gmail and rebooting, then resynching gmail and rebooting.

Any way to wipe a dead S3?

My S3 yesterday died on me. It was on charge over night and in the morning when I woke up it was turned off and just refused to turn back on again.
I'm taking it back to the shop today but before I do I was wondering if there was any way of wiping the data off it before handing it over? I just don't fancy the thought of some random guy having access to all my files and photos. Not that there is anything bad on there
If you can't get in recovery or downloadmode there is now way to wipe you're phone.

This happened to me once and it turned out to be the battery and not the phone. If you have a friend who happens to have an S3 as well, may want to try and swap the battery out with them and see if that makes a difference. If not, then service center and warranty are your only option.

Already tried that in the shop but it didn't work. I'm going back today to hand it in as their systems were down yesterday so couldn't book my phone in
I think you don´t need to be concerned about that, it happens to me with S2 and that was the board that burned and possibly even samsung will be able to read the data. And normaly they don´t care about that they just simply will replace your board and everything will be fine again.

Tear your phone down and hit the part with yellow borders on the image with a solid object. Your memory is now wiped.

[Q] Screen Discolored Issue

Hey guys, need some help with my screen. This morning when I went to check my phone I notice my screen change color, its a weird pinkish tint. Now the weird thing if i make a call, during reboot/booting and when I'm in recovery the screen turns back to normal. Anyone had this issue or know what I can do to fix it? I attached a screenshot below.

SuperJELLY Bareback version, the latest and as for kernel, I got the Arc-Reactor rls 1 but I also flashed back to stock and didn't work. I also don't have shoe touches checked.
I've had that happen once with a customized (modded from stock) sense Rom too. It cleared up after a reflash to assure no conflicts etc....I'm guessing maybe one of the graphical elements/files got corrupted or something to cause it?...good luck...hope that helps. Other wise my other suggestion would be a connection problem at the screen (which I highly doubt if its going back to normal in other screens. Hmmm

It happened again to me but this time I restored my apps one by one and I notice it was a app called Lux Auto Brightness that was causing the issue. All I had to do was wipe the data from the app and its working fine now, weird since I been using that app for a while and that never happened.

S2 i9300 Camera stopped working after upgrade.

My daughter's S3 updated automatically to 4.3.
Now the camera doesn't work, it comes on, but 'sees' nothing.

I've done a factory reset, wiped the camera data and cache, but nothing works.
I've been on a Samsung site before where you could download older versions of Android but I can't find it now.

But then incase someone forgets the password to Unlock the phone then the phone is lost forever. It's not practical to lock the phone from flashing as it's the way to restore if something goes wrong.

Android 5.1 kind off solves the problem. When you reset the device and try to activate it it will ask for the previous Google account details it's kind off like how how apple does it.
But Sony and Samsung devices that has programs like flash tool and Odin leaked it CA be bypassed AFAIK. But on other devuces with locked bootloader it's almost impossible to reset.
