The easiest way would simply be to root the Galaxy S2, try using the zerg rush exploit and when you get root, everything is quite easy to do.
The long method will be going back to an earlier version of ROM that is directly rootable. Head over to the Galaxy S2 forums, there are tons of info on how to do that.

@OP, this is the I9100 forum, you do not have an I9100 and any advice people give you here is likely to be for the wrong device, like above, and likely to make your situation much worse.

Wrong forum, AND it sounds like he bought a device that is locked due to the PIN being mis-entered too many times. Possibly a stolen or lost device that someone hocked on eBay to try to make money off a poor, unsuspecting soul. (The OP, in this case, unfortunately)
This is what I am suspecting.
I am filing paypal case tomorrow morning and I don't want to be wrong side of law.

Nope. You're out of luck.
Also, we, the people of XDA-Developers, will not discuss about methods to obtain or otherwise change the IMEI of your phone. Sorry.
How or for what reasons would a imei not be shown.

Well we can't discuss illegal ways to change your imei.
What you can try is to call Customer Service and tell them your imei number says unknown. They can check the system and send info to your phone to see if it can read it. I've done it before and they were able to get my imei "beamed" to and from my phone. It won't work if the phone was reported lost or stolen.

More likely than not, one of the partitions that store your IMEI information got corrupted, thus rendering your phone inoperable due to a corrupt/missing IMEI.
Amaze 4G IMEI is protected by checksum, not simple plain text like in other HTC-s.
I had few customers who destroyed it using certain "box".
Someone locally had this issue, they played it off saying it was booted from normal like that. Htc replacement
Hello Everyone,
I bricked my galaxy sIII i9300 bought in Europe. Now I am looking for a motherboard replacement and found a i747 motherboard in ebay. My question is can I replace the i9300 motherboard with i747 motherboard? If they are not compatible, can you suggest me a way to replace my motherboard?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Madan Raj
Although to save you having the thread moved or reposting.... the answer is no. You do not want a US model motherboard

Its a completely different phone with different CPU and graphics card and connects to completely different network frequencies to the rest of the world.

Just outta curiosity, regard hardware and frequency, if their screen are same, is it possible to switch motherboard?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
No idea. Don't even know if the screen is the same or has the same fittings. How many essential components that aren't part of the motherboard need to connect to the replacement and work? What voltage do those components need?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I think you can switch the screen setup of both models, but not sure. I read somewhere that its possible to switch screens. Let me lookit up and share it with you guys.
I was worried about the motherboard and now it seems I have no other choice than dumping my s3 or wait untill I get a i9300 motherboard
Anyways, thanks guys for sharing the information. Just let me know if have to keep something in mind before buying a motherboard. Any help or suggestions are appreciated!
Cheers!

If you had an EFS partition backup, you could possibly.
But I know TWRP recovery doesn't have that option in the M8.
I don't know if this is a limitation of the device, or the recovery.
That really needs to get added to twrp for this device. Saved my previous phone (e970) several times.

They can do it on the m7 as there is a guy on ebay that does it and he uses good imei numbers from the exact same model of phone, but he cant as of yet on the m7.

Yes it can be done with one second. But it against the xda forum rules to discuss imei thing here "I'm really sure it's not illegal to fix or change imei, but it was illegal to change the esn/meid for cdma" because it was used to clone devices esn and use other people's numbers. Unlike gsm.....

Yes its perfectly legal because its being done to bring your phone back to its original carrier. I have had people that do this sort of thing say it takes a couple hours just to do the old model htc one. So I dont understand how it could possibly be that easy unless there is software or equipment out to do it.

This device is an International GSM and is compatible with Tmobile
So no worries, but yes...technically it is not a Tmo device but unlocked will work just fine

Still doesn't belong here does it? I could post my Verizon model here since it's Sim unlocked and works with T-Mo, so this thread should really be in the general Note 7 area.
So when you say compatible - has anyone put together a list of frequencies for the various models? I'd like to find a Duos model to use with T-Mobile/Bell Mobility (Canada) with the maximum network compatibility. Really excited about this Note 7 - except for the non-removable battery.

No, because each carrier can have different exploits. If root comes out for my Verizon phone, but I'm on T-Mobile for a carrier then I wouldn't get my information from here.
Nope belongs in the other note 7 forum

No, if your phone is Verizon, regardless of what carrier you are on, you'd have to go to the Verizon forums to get the exploits for your phone. It's different hardware from the Tmo version.
EDIT: I think I read your comment wrong. I think I just iterated what you just wrote .

I'm glad you said that because mine's on the way to be delivered today... from what I understand the International can be rooted and I have T-Mobile service so I have to take mine back and by the international outright. Which I'm fine with. I just have to find someone selling it.

Sometimes one of the bands will not work in 4g speed ... that just depends .... pretty sure that will not be the case on this phone ....
