Hi there cut to the chase.
Issue 1
-----------
I have various laptops / PC with Serviio installed happily streaming to my TV (Samsung 5 Series)
With my old stock ROM (4.2 I think) connecting to the TV was no issue, start video in stock app then click the Allshare icon in the top left and hey presto video on TV. Them my network (3UK) released the 4.3 update and my phone no longer showed my TV, just hung at detecting devices. A couple of times it did work but I have no clue what was different.
I installed BubbleUPNP and that picks up both TV and Laptops so I know the DLNA side of the phone is fine.
I then put various custom ROMs on and found myself more comfortable with Revolutionary S5 and it worked, connected to TV everything okay. Since the first time it will not pick up the TV.
Issue 2
----------
With the Revolutionary S5, there is the S5 video app and that shows Personal, Download and Devices in the top tabs. If I chose Devices it lists my Serviio installations but gives me the message "After you have shared videos on the connected devices they will appear here"
But they are shared as my TV, BubbleUpnp and various other DLNA apps/ programs can play the files.
Does anyone know of any solutions to these ? Or am I stuck using a third party app to play media from my SAMSUNG phone to my SAMSUNG TV ?!
Cheers

Hello, first post here. Pretty new to the whole smartphone thing. Trying to get the allshare, specifically the screen share to work with my tv. I have an ethernet cord plugged into a samsung tv with allshare with the other end going into a wireless router. The phone and tv find each other and I can stream a movie without a problem. When I go down to the screen share option in the settings it says no device detected. I spoke with samsung a couple of times about it and they said the only way for that to work is with one of their wireless dongles. I find that hard to believe that I can stream movies but not share the screen but I'm also new at this so I was wondering if you had any insight. Thanks in advance
DLNA isn't made for screen sharing. It's just not...I've been using DLNA for a good while before I got a smartphone with that capability. It's really apples and oranges.
i don't understand why in the tv manual it would say that you could though. Just that my phone needs to have screen share on it. was hoping to browse the internet on my tv or play some emulators on it. has anyone else been able to do that with this phone?
ndavis, it seems you are thinking of the phone's tv out feature via 3.5 mm jack. You can't run emulators over DLNA.
i've been trying to figure out how to play videos on the phone (from my pc). the phone sees the videos, but when i try to stream them, it says "unsupported file format". I know that the file is supported because if i physically download it to my phone, it plays fine. Any ideas?
i just got the tab through bestbuy because it came with my new 3d smart tv. Bestbuy says "Your Samsung smart TV and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 can connect with each other for the ultimate home theater experience. Easily control your TV with your Galaxy Tab and view your Tab content (photos, videos, content from the "Cloud," etc.) on your larger HDTV screen.". Does anyone know how? lol. maybe a stupid question but i cant find it anywhere
I have a Samsung tv, serie 6 so they should be able to cooperate. I made a connection through USB cable but when I wanted to see pictures onthe tv from my tab, the tv wouldn't accept the tab. So I'm also curious ;-)
I imagine that this should be done with Samsung's 'Allshare' software, however it's not currently supplied with the Touchwiz software on the Tab.
If Allshare isn't available in the app store, then look for iMediashare or any other DNLA capable app. I'm assuming the TV is a "Smart" one, and connects somehow to your home network. Now look for a Media Link app/option on the TV. Run the DNLA app on your tablet, then run the Media Link app on the TV. The TV should see the tablet and any other media share devices that are on yor network. Pick either local or web content from your tablet, and the tablet should be able to send it to the TV.
I do this with my LG Smart TV. I'm working on the assumtion that all the Smart TVs are somewhat similar, despite being from different companies.
Good luck. It's a joy when it works.

Click to collapse
No luck finding Allshare or iMediashare in the US market.
Samsung has a remote app that works okay, just not sure of the need for it.
Any other suggestions?
Twonky Mobile demo version works for me, although I can't say I've tried watching movies with it just yet.
Edit: Videos do play.

Hi All,
Not posted in a while due to moving away from Android after bad experiences.. however I'm back with a new smart tv thingy :good::fingers-crossed:
I purchased a MiniX Plus H24 TV Box for about £35.. arrived, plugged it in and all seemed to be working well.
http://www.eachmall.com/goods-16793.html
However, I noticed the audio is slightly out of sync over HDMI and S-Video.. my guess would be this is something firmware related? I've tried different players.. confirmed the audio is in sync when playing on my laptop but for some reason it's out on the Android TV.
I'm a complete noob when it comes to Android Development if I'm completely honest.. wouldn't even know where to begin to look, even if this is firmware related.
I have a copy of the recovery firmware here https://hotfile.com/dl/198642035/88a35b2/h24_v1.6_0202.img.zip.html
Video is being streamed via Wifi from NAS, so I first suspected a bandwidth issue. However it's out of sync on SD video files and will play 720p without buffering the video (however audio is still out of sync) so to me that doesn't suggest a bandwidth issue as I'd expect it to just stutter on the 720p content
Any suggestions are welcomed..
Thanks in advance

anything?
By installing the most recent google play services it actually finds my device. Tv says connecting to kindle then an icon goes on my kindle status bar then poof screen mirroring ends. Prior to installing google play services it doesn't even see the blu-ray player. I feel I'm getting close.
My galaxy note 2 works perfectly, but that is samsung to samsung. Anyone trying to get this to work without buying a dongle? It should work fine with my player
Hello,
I'm posting here because I'm not making progress with Samsung support.
I'm no expert so please be patient with me.
I own a NAS drive with Twonky 6 media sharing. I can access the media shares
through Samsung Link on my new SmartTV (UN32EH5300) successfully. But I want more.
I'd like to access the shares and send them to the SmartTV from my Galaxy Player 5.
My first effort to do this involved the predecessor to Samsung Link - Samsung AllShare
This app comes with the factory firmware (Gingerbread 2.3.5) for the Galaxy Player.
AllShare cannot detect the SmartTV. Thinking it might be a router problem, I opened the UDP 1900
and TCP 2869 UPnP ports for the TV. No help. Samsung support told me it might be a firmware
problem on the Galaxy Player. As there is no Samsung firmware update available, I began
acquainting myself with the subject of custom ROMs. However, I've read that most
custom ROM's do not support AllShare. Alternatively, I cannot install Samsung Link on the
Galaxy Player; I receive a message that it is not supported for this version of the Galaxy
Player. Does anyone have an idea to get the Galaxy Player to recognize the SmartTV through
Samsung AllShare/Samsung Link or something else?
Next, I started downloading UPnP apps from Google. I tried BubbleUPnP, Twonky Beam,
ZappoTV, etc. None of these Android apps would recognize the SmartTV. I even installed
a couple of UPnP "detectors" - apps that should list available UPnP devices. These also
failed to detect the SmartTV. There are quite a few apps for UPnP. Might one that I have not
tried work? Does anyone have a recommendation for one that might work?
If this can be accomplished with a custom ROM, I might try it. I just wonder how many
stock apps I might lose on the upgraded Galaxy Player. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
Bob
