Still able to boot into bootloader?
By force key, hold
Vol up + power
Then hold
Vol down + power
Sent from my HTC One max using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
And or you can hold both vol up and down and hold power button till the light starts blinking which then it should reboot . Quickly hold vol down and power to then reach boot loader.

Got a similar issue here, just unlocked, rooted, s-offed, relocked and removed tamper banner and all was fine for a while. Changed my dpi in build.prop, rebooted and wouldn't come back up, just a black screen.
Holding vol up+down + power made my capacitive buttons flash - hold that for 5 secs then I release vol up to leave the the other two held down and now I can get into fastboot! Not sure where to take it from here, but try this on your device.

Dear friends
I tried to change my icons by replacing the framework.res file which put me in bootloop, I had to remove my battery ( by removing the 10 screws on the back) to power off the device then put it in the fastboot to reflash the rom.
my question is there an easier way to deal with the bootloop without removing the battery?? (I hope so)
I think if you press vol up + power and wait till you have 3 vibrations.

Yea, that should have definitely worked. There are other threads I believe where people had bootloops, and the device has successfully powered down.
I am quoting this directly from dooms "All you need to know thread": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526866 (which you probably should have read before doing modifications)
while device is power ON
Volume Up + POWER (for 10 seconds) -> resets the battery, its like removing the battery and putting it back in [device will vibrate once]
Volume Up + POWER (for additional 5 seconds, total 15 seconds) -> will power off hard, device will power down [device will vibrate thrice]

Try to time it when it starts its loop again, I don't see why you should ever have to remove your battery to reset, there hasn't been a problem yet that the key combos haven't solved.

Bootloop Issues
My phone the Sony Xperia Go... Has a boot-loop problem. it starts up and immediately goes into boot loop, (I lost power during the update because of a broken USB cord). I have tried the volume down button while plugging in the phone into the computer and it connects as an unknown device, but drops out too quickly for windows to find a driver for it. I have tried resetting it by holding the up and off buttons once it has been stuck in boot loop for a while but it wont connect to the computer. Any one else had this problem? how did you fix it?
My Xperia S suddenly hard bricked yesterday night while I'm typing SMS, It's like dead...:crying::crying:

Did you do any of these with your device before it screwed up?
Soft bricks:
Flash improper firmware which the system recognizes as improper
Prematurely terminate transfer
Flash with a bad cable
Hard Bricks:
Flash improper bootloaders
Flash mismatched versions of proper bootloaders
Flash bootloaders with a bad cable

That way we'll be able to tell if it is actually a brick or not.

If you dont have waranty open the phone ... detach the battery HOLD VOLUM + and plug USB . Should see it as an " ? Device ". If it see it that is ok. Plug back the battery and use the V+ + USB to try to power it up. And try to see if you have energy in the battery.
Xperia S comes with battery inside the phone, you sure you can remove it yourself?

Try this:
- Connect your XS to pc using USB cable
- Press volume up + power button for 15 seconds (untill the phone vibrates 1 time)
- hold volume up, now you should be in fastboot mode.
This should work for everyone who flashes a wrong kernel

Depends. I dont think so. Will suggest a full power off. Plug out battery, and with the battery out hold power button to eliminate all the power from capacitors. And after I will try to start it.

Do you have power?
Sent from Hell using Xperia-S
when you hold power button + volume up for 10 seconds does it vibrate?
if it does vibrate or not try this:
1. charge your phone for about 1 hour (doesnt need to have a led light),
2. i guess do u have flashtool already, download any firmware for your phone.
3. since your phone is not booting, once you have the necessary files and place the firmware on the folder of flashtool, (c:flashtool/firmware/your downloaded firmware),
4. open the flashtool then click the lightning icon and choose flashmode and choose your firmware, a tab will flash and say turn off your phone then connect via flashmode (whatsoever), then connect your phone via flash mode (power button + volume down), this will not connect immediately, what will you do is to push the power button+ volume up and wait until it vibrates 3 times, then after that push the power button+volume down, then the pc will detect your phone and flash the firmware, and then wait until it finish, once finished power on your phone. ( it happens to me also that my phone does not turning on and thats what i did).

I just dealt with the vol up issue. For me the foam pad by the vol up had broken free. The only way to fix this is to replicate the foam pad width, and apply enough pressure to the side of the vol up and down part for button functionality. Its a delicate situation if you go the self repair method. The flex cable replacement method is a limited option due to the limited amount of flex cables (its called the optical enhancement flex cable or something like that). The only other option is a device replacement, followed by a motherboard swap so you keep your old system.

In my case it's not a foam pad / pressure problem. As I said I already replaced the button part (which comes with the camera (5 bucks in hong-kong)), and yes it wasn't easy to make the replacement. But the problem continued. The strange thing is that I was able to use the vol-up button after clicking a thousand times on vol-up&down. In that case the vol-up button was working fine for a few minutes only. But today even after clicking during half an hour, nothing. It looks like a capacitor problem on the motherboard.
I was hoping for a program able to force the phone to boot in recovery, even thinking it's not possible (we need to choose a menu option to let a program comunicates with the phone).
I think I'm fuc... this time. Moto no more for sure.

Clearly you can't. I suggest you reread everything again.
He's stuck in the bootloader, way before the ROM even thinks of loading. What good is an app then?
I'm back in my rom.
After clicking again like crazy on vol-up&down, vol-up button has responded for a few minutes, just 2 or 3 minutes, but it was sufficient to enter recovery via bootloader. ouff !
I'm not going to modify my rom anymore, too dangerous.
Someone knows an app able to modify the calling volume ? It's ok for now but one day I will click vol-down during a call and ... no way to vol-up ! hahaha, crapy motorola (which not allows international warranty) !
thanks
Your story serves as a warning to me.
Never modify the button with Motorola at the bootloader level, too risky. (android level like inside system\ is OK).
To summarize problem that thread-opener had:
- He's stuck at bootloader (screen says unlocked, fastboot, or RDS, recovery, etc...etc)
- can cycle through fastboot, rds, recovery with Vol-down.
- but cannot select (confirm selection) with Volume-up (button software reassigned, or button hardware contact broken, or etc..etc)
====>>> dead-end to way out ! No download mode.

Make sure you uncheck "fastboot" in the power setting. It takes a while for bootloader to boot up, so press them at the same time and hold a little bit.
