Hey guys ! I have found TWO different mods to increase the volume on custom roms.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have a file named mixer_paths.xml
A file manager and an XML editor. I use ES File Manager, as it is a file manager with a built in Editor.
ROOTED Phone
HEADPHONE
MOD 1
Mod 1 is for roms that have ' RX1 Digital Volume and RX2 Digital Volume ' in the headphones section.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
What To Do:
1. Go to /system/etc and open mixer_paths.xml
2. Scroll down to the headphones section and look for the lines: RX1 Digital Volume and RX2 Digital Volume
3. In those lines you will see 'value=65' your value may be different
4. For a safe volume, change it to 74 or 75
5. Save changes and reboot
MOD 2
Mod 2 is for roms that do NOT have RX1 Digital Volume or RX2 Digital Volume in the headphones section. This WILL increse speaker volume.
What To Do:
1. Go to /system/etc and open mixer_paths.xml
2. Scroll down to the headphones section
3. If you see RX1 Digital Volume and RX2 Digital Volume, please follow mod 1
4. Scroll back up to the top and you will see RX1-7 (RX1 RX2 RX3 RX4 RX5 RX6 RX7) and they will have the same values
5. What i did was changed the value to 90 for safe volume, so change it to any number under 90
6. Save changes and reboot
Enjoy
** Mod 2 WILL increase speaker volume. I am working on a post for Mod 1.
SPEAKER
This one is specifically for ROMs with the 'RX3 Digital Volume' line.
What To Do:
1. Go to /system/etc and open mixer_paths.xml
2. Scroll down to the speaker section, where you will find the RX3 Digital Volume line
3. Change it to any number under 70.
• I changed the number to 70, and it is incredible, but there is some sound distortion with music players with built in EQs, so what i did was install Viper4Android and fixed the distortion in the speaker tab. It is located here:
4. Save your changes and reboot.
Enjoy
@evanprice Thnx for the wonderfull post.
Could you please let me know if you can enhance the Volume of inbuilt phone speaker somehow. I mean both, the in-call speaker and the Loudspeaker.
Awaiting your response.
Thanks.

I think you don't need to do that you can bring your music back to life using this ViPER4Android Audio Effects. It's best sound effect software ever created for Andoid, with the right settings it make your music loud and clear with superb bass and tremble. Just try it yourself here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223

I also found a free app called MP3Gain from the market that works pretty good!
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
This is for the ATT LG G2 and requires you to be rooted. If you are not comfortable modifying system files, please do not go any further!
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage you should do to your shiny new device. This works as is, however it requires you knowing how to obtain root, navigate your file system with a root browser, and properly set permissions. Being as this device has no form of recovery or backup, please be careful when modifying system files.
So, I love the G2 but was somewhat unsatisfied with the speaker output. I decided to figure out how to change the volume gain.
Volume gain for the speaker is found in the following directory: /system/etc/snd_soc_msm
The file that needs to be modified is called "snd_soc_msm_Taiko". Please copy this file to your storage before changing it in case you need a file to revert from.
Open this file with a text editor. I prefer "920 text editor" from the play store.
Find this code:
Code:
SectionDevice
Name "Speaker"
Comment "Speaker Rx device"
EnableSequence
'SLIM RX1 MUX':0:AIF1_PB
'SLIM_0_RX Channels':0:eek:ne
'RX7 MIX1 INP1':0:RX1
'RX7 Digital Volume':1:60
'SPK DRV Volume':1:90
'SPK DAC Switch':1:1
'RX7 HPF cut off':0:MIN_3DB_150Hz
EndSequence
"60" is the stock gain for the speaker.
'RX7 Digital Volume':1:60
Change "60" to a number of your liking, For me "65" was enough to make notifications much louder. Too high and distortion will kick in. I'm sure too high could cause damage. Small increments are best.Play around with this number till you find what you like.
Save the file with the default file name and copy back to the following directory: /system/etc/snd_soc_msm
Change permissions to RW-R-R
Reboot
That is all it takes
Is this only for external speaker or headphone as well? Am also unhappy with the loudness of the speaker. Headphone volume is good and am satisfied. but external speaker, its same as GS3.

Thanks for sharing this -- great stuff!! Any chance you could post the complete file, so we could see what all can be changed (headphone vol, etc.)? (I don't have G2 yet.)
thanks a lot, great to see this stuff so early. quality on external speaker is definitely not a bad thing, but I'm concerned about volume cause I can never hear my notifications

Maybe try saving a copy, then editing it and paste on top of original. When I did this stuff on GS3, I edited the file on pc and then pasted it in.
Volume is terrible on my VZW version.

In any file explorer with root access (I'm using root explorer) go to system/usr/keylayout look for the file synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl and edit the file as shown in the picture...then press the back key til it ask you if you want to save changes...do that then reboot and it should work

To get menu working there is a fix if you can get root browser or root explorer installed.
You go to System/usr/keylayout/synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.k and edit that file in a text editor (after mounting R/W) then change key 249 to "MENU" and then back out.. be sure to save.. reboot and menu button should be remapped.
Edit: What therealrayzzor said haha.....
So one of the biggest disappointments I've had with just about all my Samsung Galaxy devices has been the volume output from the external speaker - especially when watching movies.
So, as someone else asked about this in one of the ROM forums, I thought I would share my little tweak with the rest of you, and show how to do it yourself so you can play around with all sorts of volume tweaks.
As is the case with most things, be careful making changes to system files - I am not responsible if somehow you change a setting that results in the annihilation of the entire human race! (but really ... the worst that'll happen is it won't change anything, or you'll crash on boot ... so back everything up, and nandroid)
Process:
1) Download and extract either the moderate, or extreme file uploaded to this post.
2) Using your file explorer of choice, navigate to system/etc/snd_soc_msm
3) Back up the file titled snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm (i just add a .bak to the end of it, but moving it to another location works too)
4) Copy/move the downloaded snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm file into the system/etc/snd_soc_msm directory.
5) Set the permissions to rw-r-r (errors and crashes if you don't)
5) Hot-boot or re-boot your phone, and boom ... the speaker is quite a bit louder.
This only "boosts" the external speaker, not the headset speaker, or bluetooth, or the headphone lineout.
Alternatively, if you'd like to know how to do this for future reference, I'll teach you! (because tinkering around is how we all learn in the first place, right?)
1) Open the snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm file in Notepad++ and search for "speaker" ... you're looking for the line that says "Comment "Speaker Rx device" "
2) Below that you'll see several values under "EnableSequence" ... you want to edit the "RX5 Digital Volume"
3) Change the default value from 66.9% to something like 75% (I used 72.9 for the moderate and 77.9 for the extreme)
Save the file, copy it over, and there you go.
I would caution against going much higher than 77.9% ... you could do some serious damage to the speaker if you go too high...you've been warned!
You can also play around with some of the other "digital volume" values under the other headers .. such as "headset device", etc.
Good luck folks - enjoy turning your amps up to 11!
This worked great! Thank you so much! Extreme distorts it a bit if put all the way up. I know this was bound to happen when tweaking the volume. so im about to try moderate also. But it definitely works.
Edit: Moderate is just right. Noticeably louder! But not that extreme for distortion to be caused. Thank you!

+1 on this working everytime i update my rom this is one of the first things i do and it works very well.
Glad it's working. I definitely hear you (pun intended?) about the distortion thing, but that's unavoidable. I personally only use the "moderate" boost - I'm not that deaf..yet.
You can definitely mess around and increase the volume of the line-out (headphones), and the call speaker .. if anyone wants those, let me know and i'll upload them.

Np; I never tried it but you might also be able to use root explorer long press on the file then choose open with text editor. Make your edits then back out and save. If it does it like when you edit a Csc file it'll save the original by adding .bak to it and imo that's a plus

you can, but I never do. I always want a backup of the original. And more than that, I want a backup of the modded file on my computer so I can put it back on my phone everytime I flash, instead of digging through all the lines. Back when I used to spend like 20 hours a week tweaking my phone, I had a blank flashable .zip that I could just throw those files in to flash. Wish I still had all those goofy little files on that toasted HDD

you can, but I never do.

You're 100% correct on all of this. I highly recommend doing all edits like this on your computer. You certainly can do them on your device, but it's safer and easier to do them on your computer.
Plus...you'll learn a lot more when you can spread those files out and really dig in.
So i'm still working on it...just wanted to let you guys know I haven't forgotten. I've tried lots of different things and haven't had any luck yet. It's possible there's some sort of hard-coded limiter to how loud you can make the headphone jack go, but we'll see if I can't work it out. Give me the next 24 hours to keep plugging away.
Plus, gives me a good chance to listen to a lot Gogol Bordello while I tweak sound settings

Awesome Man!!! Wasn't expecting that kind of response when I asked.... Actually didn't realize this thread was new either haha. I thought it was an old thread that I was hoping someone just had an answer too.
Introduction:
This is my first xposed module. I couldn't find a current xposed module that allowed me to enable call recording on my T-Mobile Galaxy S5 via the menu while in a call.
So I made one.

This app requires Xposed
Issues:
None that I know of
Details:
This mod has a simple UI to enable/disable call recording. When installed, this will override any CSC settings. You can enable the recording button (replaces add call), and/or recording in menu.
After changing any setting, you will need to reboot for changes to take affect. I can't figure out a reliable hook yet to prevent this need. There's a convenient notification to prompt you to reboot.
Confirmed working so far on:
-SM-G900T
-SM-G900A
-SM-N900T
-SM-N900V

I can look into it, did you try it anyway? I dint have a note 3, so I can't test. If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

It's pretty specific to Samsung's incallui, so I'd say it's not likely.
Samsung has the recorder built in, just hidden, this mod just exposes the option.

What folder are the recordings stored in? I'm trying this out on an AT&T S5, which has a slightly different InCallUI.apk than the G900T, so it could just be that the module isn't working for me. But I do have a "Record" entry in the call menu, so I'm hopeful, but I can't find any recordings that I've made.

They are saved in sdcard/Sounds on my phone. You should be able to find them in "Voice Recorder" if you can't find them there.. If it's not working, let me know. I'll see if I can make adjustments.

Try this: http://dl-count.xposed.info/modules/com.devortex.TWCallRecorder_v2_26dc02.apk
It's in the xposed repo under "experimental", but I figure a direct link should be easier to get to.
Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks for the response, but unfortunately, it's not working on this variant. Like I said, it does add the "Record" entry into the call screen settings, but the "Add Call" button doesn't change to "Record" and the recordings don't actually work (not found in either location, at least).
TWCallRecorder gets Superuser privileges when I start a phone call, though, so everything else seems to be working fine. It's just this stupid carrier-specific phone apk screwing things up.
Yeah, sorry to hear that.
Like I've stated, this mod only exposes the hidden features that are built into the phone app. So, it's possible that the call recording is just not native on the ATT variant. It's funny that it can still show the record option in the menu. It's either something weird that's causing the recording not to work, or ATT removed the feature but forgot to remove that one menu piece.
If I get a few minutes, I'll try to look into it further, but I can't guarantee anything.

There is already an Xposed module for call recording that works on the Note 3 running latest NF1 from T-Mobile

Hey, somewhere along the way it started working on my G900A!
The "Add call" button still doesn't change to a record button, but the entry in the overflow menu works now. Thanks for the work you put into getting this working on other phones!
