Ive been looking everywhere too for a gsm unlock and so far all i know is this:
-The sprint note 3 cannot be unlock unless it has been globally unlock and the only way you can do that is by asking sprint to do that. the only other option ive been trying is flashing a different firmware on it (like boost mobile and virgin) and going on from there. but thats all i know

You work at a cell phone store but don't get a dealer line? I would probably be on straight talk or simple mobile if I didn't get tmo unlimited everything for $25/mo. I work at Costco in the wireless kiosk.

What exactly unlocks the network? I mean you cannot do it manually through build props or some sort of setting within the phone? ..Is it like flashing software? Or is it on the network end?
My AT&T Note is running stock ROM but rooted. The APN settings is LOCKED, that is, it CANNOT be edited.
When I buy the unlock code and SIM unlock my Note, will that also UNLOCK the APN settings?
If not, then buying the unlock code will not do anything, since the APN still cannot be edited and hence, no data is possible.
Just wondering...

Unlocking it will unlock the APN settings as well.

I don't really know a lot about SIM related stuff, so I apologize...
Can the Rezound be SIM unlocked for US networks? The only thread I've found on another site says no but I think the repliers were referring to bootloader unlocking, not SIM. I am S-Off if that matters..just don't want to spend money on those sites that use IMEI to unlock, then get nowhere.

You don't need to SIM unlock it. Just put a different SIM in it and it'll work.
In the US? Because I've tried and never gotten anywhere...

I read elsewhere that the sim had to be activated on a prepaid phone first. Not sure of that is correct but something to look into.

Just to be sure about the specifics.
HTC rezound on the leaked 4.03.605.2 ruu
You put in a T-Mobile sim card in the rezound
And you had voice calling, texting, mms, and data working?
You didn't need to modify anything in the phone, change settings, add a T-Mobile apn, root, or Rom the phone?
It will be nice if you will write a short "how to" for moving a rezound onto USA T-Mobile.
Also were there any frequency mode restrictions?
Data speed was good?
Thanks,
Howard
Thanks guys...will keep messing with it.
Verizon would not give me an unlock code because according to them the phone isn't capable yet.
Rezound is globally capable and works on other US carriers

The FCC ruling that Verizon is responding to by making the Rezound, Razr, Droid 4, etc. globally capable also opens the phones up for use by other carriers. This was "Big Red's" initial impetus for not unlocking the phones native features. So yes, you can use this phone on Tmobile's network.

Have you tried to enter T-Mobile's APN?
It won't save and show in the list.
It appears Verizon locked it to only use Verizon's APN?
when booted into the bootloader there is a simlock item on the menu.
if one has s-off and an appropriate config.dat file on the removable microSD card it is supposed to SIMM unlock, so one doesn't get that sim locked picture on the phone after inserting another vendor's SIMM card.
this information is from reading, not from doing it.
I'm running T-Mobile US (EDGE) just fine. 100%
Did nothing but put the simcard in the phone and flashed a GSM ROM (Downtown).
I did flash the latest radio and firmware with S-OFF but everything was working before hand.
I activated the Prepaid Simcard on T-Mobiles website and used the Rezounds IMEI without problems just added the right APN for MMS and DATA.

Sounds like you have no idea if it works with stock 4.93.605.2
You know it works with "downtown" rom

Stock 605.2 ... Yes besides the annoying "invalid simcard" on the lockscreen it worked fine. Only reason I switched was because I'm not a fan of Sense 3.6

Thanks Tachi,
I plan to order a T-Mobile SIM card to play with on monday. it will have 10 minutes of talk time, but no data. I still have quite some time left on my Verizon contract before I switch to T-Mobile. This might also be a good option for my daughter.
First, I will see how this works on my stock rooted 4.03.605.2 system with htcdev unlock and s-off. If I get the SIM locked warning, I will try installing a hboot loadable SIM unlock config.dat file I got from a website - it has my IMEI inside it.
I don't know why, but I can not enter the T-Mobile apn in my system, even if I switch the phone into gsm mode.
Then I will try the downtown ROM, if it is ok to load it ontop of 4.03.605.2
thanks,
Howard

You didn't even need to unlock. The phone comes sim unlocked. There is a mod you need to due though to get data by adding the apn. Is In the development section.

Are you talking about switching carriers or running an AT&T rom on your Veizon phone? You can do both. If you don't want to install the mod you can always download any of the dozens of apn apps from the appstore that will do everything for you automatically. I think with the mod you have to manually enter the required values. I may be mistaken. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

There are a few different options in the Dev forum. You can add a huge list of APNs, enable the APN editor, or both. You'll also likely want to use the modded file to disable the non-VZW SIM warning though if you do use another carrier. However, you only really need root to be able to input APN data I believe.
Seems like alot is involved. Basically the verizon note2 sim is unlocked. But in order for me to go to another carrier like AT&T, I would have to do number of things.

Just root and update the APNs. You're going to have to update the APNs if you use any carrier besides VZW on the phone.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S III U.S. Cellular R530U on eBay and it appears to be CDMA//LTE, though it has a SIM card slot.
I'm trying to unlock it so I can use it with my GSM carrier here in Israel, but none of the codes are working for me, like *#197328640#.
What am I supposed to do? I don't care if I only get 2G speeds, I just want it to work..
Thank you!
Check Out this thread please, may be it can help you.

Everyone there says to use the various codes, like *#197328640#, which I have already tried.
Is it because I am using Android 4.3? How do I root it?
EDIT: It seems that NONE of the codes work on my phone. Not even *#1234#.. What does that mean?
Hi all,
I bought a Sprint Note 3 on swappa. Work well no issues BUT I am now travelling overseas and need international unlock.
I asked Ting and they followed up with sprint - the response "they will not unlock for international use"
I am stuck - what can/should I do ? the phone is not rooted. And from various threads I read I need sprint to do the international unlock
(once that's done a domestic unlock would be nice - again threads tell me international unlock needs to be done first)
Can I do this myself ? or is sprint the only one ? (and how come they don't do the unlock ? the IMEI is clean etc...)
thanks, Sammy
SSU app will unlock for non USA sims. Then down grade modem mj4? , to use US sims. More steps to get it all working info is in forums. ting is great wish they could tell sprint to stick it.
thinking about moving to ting this month. so tired of the Sprint bill. they used to be the "cheap" option. not true these days.

can u provide the best link - have had trouble finding the best source for what you are saying ie SSU app and then the modem mj4 etc...
thanks.
PS: any reason sprint doesn't unlock for ting ?
Here's the ssu app thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...print-samsung-unlocker-unlock-sprint-t2928250
And the sprint unlock for domestic sim.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593305
Sprint doesn't want to unlock even if you're paying sprint.
FYI ting says they will have GSM maybe as soon a Feb.
does that mean TING will be able unlock in Feburary
also, if I go the SSU route - can I check before travelling from the USA if the procedure has work.
thanks again.

All the post say it just works. All you have to do is: Go to settings, more networks, mobile networks, access point names, then add an APN settings for the carrier.
If you have the time do the domestic unlock and have it working here before you go.
Ting will resale GSM srrvice from T Mobile, ATT ?
