Install firmware from another carrier via Odin - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I've made the mistake of installing the firmware of a different carrier via Odin. After which, I tried reinstalling the correct carrier version via Odin again but the apps from the "wrong carrier" are still around, is there any way for me to do a full clearing to remove them?
btw my phone is not rooted

Factory reset from inside the rom (settings, accounts), flash your firmware then factory reset from recovery.
This will wipe internal storage as well, if still the same then you're doing something wrong.

[Q] Problems recognizing modems above XXKE4.

Every time I try to flash a different modem, IE XXKG3, XXKG2, XXKG1, XXKF2, XXKF1; it tells me PHONE: Unknown in *#1234# XXKE4 and lesser seem to work just fine. I have had this issue on stock 2.3.3, and now with the latest lightningrom3.2(XXKG2) it is the same. Can anyone help me fix this, or offer insight into what the deal is?
Bump.

Bump looks as you are only one with the problem .
Wrong flash wrong whatever totally wipe phone and start again only suggestion.
Phones get confused with multiple flashes with bits left behind is my experience .

I have wiped and re-flashed 5 times minimum. Some of those with PIT. I guess ill give it another shot, I don't mind setting everything up again(and again...).
I re-flashed another 5 times. Still not working, I will just go back to my working setup and live with it. Unless anyone else can help.
I re-flashed another 5 times.
As i posted multiple flashes f*** phone .
Connect in mass storage mode format phone through windows .
Recovery mode mounts and settings format data sytem sd card .
Recovery wipe dalvik cache wipe cache factory reset .
Blank phone via Odin install stock firmware not 2.3.4 .

So you are saying, to mount in windows, format my usb storage, then perform a factory reset on the phone? Reflash the stock firmware.
Then I can flash the KG3?
Formatted the usb storage partition VIA windows, with CWM wiped data, wiped cache, wiped davlik, formatted everything else.
Re-flashing stock.
I am doing the format then I will wipe everything again. Then install LightningROM 4.1 Is this as you meant?
After all that still did not work.
I meant wipe and install a stock rom with a later modem than KE4 NOT A CUSTOM ROM .
Have you actually flashed a modem by itself .
Does your custom rom actually contain a modem .

Ok, I will try that tonight, an XXKF2 rom. I have tried to flash modems by themselves, the way I get the modem to be XXKE4 while using lightning rom(XXKG3) is by flashing only a modem. Yes the LR4.1 Contains the KG3 modem.
So, I had KF2 recognized, and I saw service for about 5 seconds, then it went away didnt come back, so I am trying other ROMS. At least it was recognized. Thanks
Now I have it recognizing KG3, but not recognizing my sim, with KF2, it got my phone number and such, then disconnected never connecting again
So with the official higher than KE4 modems, they are now recognized, but no network. Is there anything more I can do?

How reset the phone?

Hey, just wondering, how to do a fresh wipe, restore to the phone to original state, and clean all the data installed? Bluetooth transferred, downloaded file. Will the factory reset button able to do that?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Factory reset will return to clean CURRENT firmware .
Original state you need to have saved your original firmware if you have changed firmware or use Branded roms post Stock roms post to flash as near as possible to original .

If you have clockworkmod, you can format sd etc. and wipe all caches/data as far as i know. Don't know if stock-recovery mode does? Never used it ^^
Stock recovery only wipes the userdata partition, does not wipe the SD card or Internal storage.

[Q] can't flash stock roms with odin i9100 [Resolved]

I'm currently unable to flash firmwares; whenever I try with ODIN it fails (does not progress) at boot.bin.
I'm on VillianROM 3 and I want to move to XXKI4.
I have tried using a series of separate files for XWKDF and the single .tar.md5 files. I've also tried using different USB ports, cables and wiping all data before flashing.
I have never selected .pit or repartition during a flash
I have killed all of the KIES processes using task manager.
I have access to download and CM recovery (restoring old backups does work but I still can't flash on top of them)
Any suggestions?

Go into recovery mode, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache , wipe dalvik cache, go to mount and storage and format system, cache and data. Go over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928 , find your country`s rom. Put the phone in downloadmode and flash it with odin. Be sure you have usb debugging enabled. After reboot go to settings, privacy and reset factory settings, reboot and you`re done

What version of Odin are you using? I use V1.85 and everything works fine for me on Window 7 Pro...
I'm also using win 7 with odin 1.85. It's weird, I was previously able to use odin to flash stock roms but now it has stopped working (I've tried redownloading odin to make sure the files are okay but same result)

Use another computer
Is the phone in download mode?
I've put the phone I'm to download mode using vol down + home + power and from the cwm app. The result is the same: fails at boot.bin
I'll see if I can try from another computer this evening

Ok the suggestion to use a different computer has worked.
I've now also managed to re-root from the win 7 machine by setting up a new user account and running odin from there. I'll update the thread title to resolved

did you wipe after flash?
use the dial code to wipe.
or if that fails using cwm format system data cache and flash again using odin.
That happened to me. Same as above post, wipe all and flash with odin.

Only work on stock ROM

[Q] Bootloop after flashing stock ROM via Odin. I think I've tried everything.

The Wifi on my phone wasn't turning on, even after factory reset, so I reflashed stock ROM via Odin (v3.07)
I got stuck in a bootloop, and after factory reset via the stock recovery + wipe of cache partition, it was still stuck.
I then re-flashed the stock ROM. Still stuck.
Tried using Kies 3, with the firmware upgrade and installation tab. Said something about not supporting my phone when I was prompted to plug it in. (SM-G355H; Samsung Galaxy Core II Duos)
I then found an unofficial version of CWM v6 for my phone (there's no official support), and quickly flashed that (via Odin 3.09; which is what I use from this point on), forgetting that my phone was no longer rooted. I wiped davlik cache and data. Still stuck. Then I rooted my phone. Stuck.
Then I reflashed stock ROM (this time, I downloaded from another website) (to test my luck, I tried seeing if simply a factory reset and cache wipe would work. It did not) rooted my phone, and flashed CWM. Wiped davlik cache. Still stuck.
By the way, when I wipe davlik cache it says:
Warning: no file_contexts
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Davlik Cache wiped.
Any ideas on what to do now? I can't send it to a manufacturer / repair store where I live. I'm thinking maybe I should untick Auto Reboot and/or F. Reset Time when flashing, use an earlier version of Odin or the ROM itself, or maybe there is something I can do with ADB? I'm not very familiar with it, but I'm more than willing to learn. I just need some direction...
I was just trying to fix my WiFi... :crying:
Update: Flashed with Auto Reboot unticked. Still in bootloop.
Alright, I fixed it by using Kies, via firmware upgrade and installation. You have to ignore where it says that your device is not supported, and just leave it to download. If you get stuck on the setup screen like I did, try cache wipe + factory reset. If it doesn't work flash an earlier version of the firmware. You might be using the wrong region (It's not always your country), use Kies to check. When it tells you what pda/ modem / csc it wants to update the region will be in parentheses ( eg ACR). Use all of them possible
