2010:
There was an unlucky batch of some Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S phones that cannot be put into download and recovery modes using the standard three-button combos. This poses a huge problem for the users of these phones.
The problem is caused by a faulty SBL (secondary bootloader) in these devices. Luckily, a fix exists for this issue, involving flashing a custom ‘fixed’ secondary bootloader to your device, that should enable the 3-button combos once again.

Congratulations! Samsung, you've done it again..
So there was, a fix for Galaxy S, and today i bring to you all sgsd users the fix for Galaxy Star Duos. :highfive:
DISCLAIMER AGAIN!!! COZ THIS IS THE SECONDARY BOOTLOADER WE ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!
Please note this process is highly dangerous, and can permanently brick your device if not followed properly. While the success rate is over 99%, proceed at your own risk. The instructions provided herein are ‘as is’ only, with no liability on our part.
Flash Procedures:
For those we have already installed CWM 6.0.3.7,
I have also uploaded a CWM Flashable zip. Just flash the fixrecoverycombo(gt-s5282)cwmflashable.zip with CWM and you're done.! [/I]
Or for those who want to flash with Odin.
* Extracted the attacthed 7z file (use 7zip) you will get a 2mb tar.md5 file..
* Just flash the extracted tar.md5 file with Odin.. normal PDA flash.. DON'T TICK ANY OTHER CHECKBOXES.
See the attached screenshot for refrence.
If you don't know how to flash files with Odin then this really shouldnt be your first try.
TESTED BY HUMANS!
CREDITS!!
@@rchit for providing the bootloader files.
@Vortex99 for testing my odin flashable first, the screenshot and also giving me the courage to take risk in raw flash first.
@kima09 for testing my cwm flashable zip first.
@prbluebottle for his partition info thread.

Btw another issue I have noticed with star is when we connect it to pc... Why does it show up as portable media player and not mass storage... ??
I have seen that in other samsung galaxy phones there are options like connect device as USB mass storage,Media player... Whereas our phone has only 2 options- Connect as MTP and something else... The problem with these connections is that I cant do multiple jobs... Like copying and pasting and deleting from the same device... Its gives me error like GT-S5282 is busy or GT-S5282 is in use Try later... And normally I use teracopy for copying files but Tera copy doesnt work with our device... My only question did Samsung create this device as a joke... ??

Its feature of Android 4.1.2+ you can't connect your device as Mass Storage.. Only MTP and PTP(Camera)
Maybe you are using an old device with Android prior to 4.1.2 ??
There's an app you can use to enable Mass Storage mode in newer Androids i forgot what was it.

Or adb in and push stock files which would be a bit tough
So best will be reflash the rom
But hey you can use QTadb to get in and replace the themed files with stock ones
Hey but how to use Qtadb? I really new to this. :/

Yes. That will do.
I think you flashed a theme with stock odexed ROM. Do remember next time most of the themes are for DEODEXED ROMS.
Ok okay. MY bad.
But How to reflash? I'm downloading i5801DDJP4 firmware now. How to flash?

wat abt tat qtadb?
bro flash a kernel having cwm and always be on it......coz whenever such things happen all u need to do is keep an additional update.zip of a working theme......and if u get stuck flash tht using cwm recovery and ur fone will be allright.......
and much better is use multiboot kernel........and save ur rom using cwm.....whenever ur fone gets problem ......just using multiboot flash the rom u saved........
update.zip will be helpfull when u get problems due to themes.....
multiboot will be helpfull always even with themes and many other things like maybe bimistakely u delete some files u can recovery using multiboot.

This soft bricking can even happen if u dont have sufficient /system space. see that minimum system space=theme's file size.
If u dnt have enough system space, then u need to delete some system apps to free some space using adb or qtadb and then replace theme files
Best solution is to reflash

[Help] I just installed ROM Manager...

Hey guys, I just installed ROM Manager on my Samsung Galaxy Ace and went to backup my current ROM. After I entered a name for my backup and pressed the Backup button my phone has become a brick? I cannot turn it on no matter what I do. Can anyone please help me because if I do not get this working, I will be screwed, I'm on a 2 year contract with T-Mobile.
It's bricked. You should read the first topic on this forum.
You can try uploading firmware with odin, not sure if it'll help.
Volume down + Home +Power what happens? If you see "download" you should be able to use Odin!

Yes, Odin found your Phone, all good but you only have the cooper file... you need the other files, too !
1. Disconnect your phone !
then read this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
just without the root stuff if you dont need it !

Yeah I stopped it after it was taking too long, I also tried the one package (the one in the picture)/full package installation (the one you're pointing out), none worked and my phone doesn't boot into download mode, I have noticed a lot of people have had this problem. I am going to have to take it to the samsung repair center near me.
This was all caused by a recovery tool... how frigging ironic.

Sorry but I think you´r the one to blame, don´t use stuff you´r not supposed to do...
U DO HAVE TO START TO READ BEFORE YOU TOUCH things, sorry, wasn´t meant to be annoying CAPS but it´s very important...
There is one more (maybe) solution to try...
Q8: Oh no! My phone is bricked! I accidentally flashed the wrong device in ROM Manager!
A8: Oh no . You might wanna try either:
Method 1:
-Remove the SIM card , SD card and battery from the phone
-Hold Volume Down + Home + Power
-(Optional) Bring it near a heat source .
-While still holding those buttons , place the battery into the phone
-It should go into Download Mode .
-Try to flash a full package file via ODIN and your phone should come back to life .
If that doesn't work , try Method 2:
-Bring the phone to a nearby service center for repair .

At least Samsung gives them new phones eh?
I was not attacking or categorizing you, I tried to help! But you just did not read. That's why you tried to flash with the .ops file only. I'm no expert but I guess that ruined the very important Bootloader part of the phone.
Good luck with the Samsung Service, as I read here you're chances are good to get help!

No I didn't, I had selected to install the whole package file that I got from samsungmobile or w/e it is, not the seperate ones.
Look at your Screenshot, it proofs what I said...there is no phone, modem, csc and pda file.
Once again, it wasn´t meant to attack you or your fault(s), I´m not an expert, far away from it and I bet many here have done stupid things with their phones ;-)
Just read and learn and if a Dev says "Do not this or do not that"... DON´T DO IT !
Greetings
You are wasting your time in doing these things
Because if phone not start in downloading mod you cant use odin
Go to service centre

Cdesai once gave me a non-working kernel that had swapped /data and /system
Herpderp Defy.
yeah emo thats tricking the kernel to mount our sd-ext partition as /data instead of phone data...
so it will work like sd-ext but just won't require anything software...
that should be easy to implement in our kernels
wow. calling devs..
That's a good idea. Then what about this? In HTC desire dev thread talking about 8MB hack, and previously I saw in G1 dev thread is 10MB hack.

That's exactly what I did: The modded boot image, on startup, mounts /data (the internal memory) on SDcard 2nd partition (if there is one, of course)...
...if your second partition (EXT4 formatted due to safety reasons) is 1Gb wide... your internal memory will be 1Gb wide...
That's all!
After that I received many requests for Galaxy FIT and Galaxy ACE via PM...
Actually these three phones get the same kernel (really the same deep inside!) but few drivers not related to boot process...
I was easy able to repeat the tweak for Galaxy FIT, testing the modded images on my Mini loosing only the two physical button control but booting fine ...
And I repeated the tweak for Galaxy ACE too! read here... (mini tweak, FIT tweak and ACE tweak are pretty the same... no "one byte" of difference!)
But due to different screen resolution I cannot test it on my own... (Mini bootloader doesn't handle rle images different from 240x320, hanging...)
The images, actually modded, should work fine (99% sure) but, if there is somebody "adb shell aware" or "terminal emulator aware" I can show three simple "console commands" to check for it 100% without need to flash anything...
After that... Let's Mod whatever you want !

method of root to wave S8500

Android 4.0.4 ICS on samsung wave I S8500 ROOTED
Its been hardly a week now Android on Samsung wave 1 S8500 is Rooted
yes you heard me, its ROOTED, that means more functionality from your Samsung wave phone.
thanks to xda Devs they have created a new zImage for your android
The touch calibration has been made, so the left part of your screen which was facing touch issues is resolved now.
Steps
1) Copy and replace this zImage in your phone memory with this one here >> http://data.hu/get/5295695/zImage (Use the “Lassú letöltés” button in mid page to download).
2) use unlocktroot tool to root your wave >> http://www.unlockroot.com
3) Download unlockroot tool from above link and install
4) Connect ur android on samsung wave to pc, make sure usb debugging is on
5) Click on root
6) it will ask to install a driver, click on install driver anyway , the second option (in win 7)
7) Wait for root to complete
3) Done

everything is ok but cant overclock more than 1gzh....
It seems that the overclock possibilities depend on the programm you choose (due to processor recognition I would say).
So try several programms. If it still doesn't work try to change the device name to GT-I9000 Galaxy S.
ok, but are you sure is it "GT-I9000 Galaxy S" ? becouse i read build.prop of Froyo(previous wavedroid) and here is write only "GT-I9000", so i rewrite this, but some apps don't work still(quadrant benchmark works, Tegrak overclocking don't work). Have you another idea?

Anyway maybe those apps doesn't work also on galaxy S, do they ?
To overclock there is also the possibility to modify kernel, but I don't know how to do that, maybe we can take the setting from the old overclocked kernel and apply them in the new one ?
yes, yes, i agreed, but i too shor to do this, maybe wavedroid team made some magic for us noobs (not everybody, just me)

3) Done
Enjoy

No idea, I can't see exact date...
@ deeps_17
Maybe we have few more important problems, as 1 Copy & Paste Tutorial...
Please forgive us.
Then concentrate on more important stuff...
Like writing new Tuts, more infos...
Internet is living from Copy and Paste. :good:
Otherwise we would read long long Credits...
Credits goes to my Mom, my Dad, my Grandma who has born my Mom and my other Grandma who has born my Dad...

.
I thank ""God"", who has made the earth, where we are all living... etc...
Also I will thank Edison, the Inventor of Glühbirne... that I have light in my Room...
Now serious... few of our German Forum members think you are the man who ported Android to Wave...
P.s.: Sorry that I have written God... it is short word.
I have no religion.
Please, better back to Topic.
Android Port is NOT finished.
We need our energy...

Hope it is working man. Dude just to make sure you understood, this TWRP we installed is not only meant for a similar but different model, but as i said i unpacked it and checked inside, and saw that some stuff seemed wrong. It was made for a device running kitkat, the partitions layout seemed different etc (our device uses almost 30 partitions O.O).
So i dont recommend trying to flash stock or custom cyanogenmod roms with it untill we are sure this custom recovery is correclty ported for our specific model, 100% functional. For instance, i couldnt find my external SD card browsing with it... Thankfully it worked for the root process
Since we already have a recovery ported to a similar device, same family 105, its probalby easy to finish porting 100% for our 105B and then start looking for custom roms for it.... or how to port them >.< lol
We can probably find someone else to help with that here in the XDA forum.
UPDATE 08/28/2016: The TWRP now seems to work fine with the external SD cart! next step is to find or build a custom rom for it and then see if TWRP is also working for flashing ROMS.

I only have a .img file which i use as .tar in Odin. I never flashed via adroid itself, apks etc. You can try but idk if it must be in .zip file with script or if you can use the .img/tar directly, Is yours 105B ?

Ok, you must make sure that you have an unlocked bootloader to flash TWRP.
For that purpose go to Settings -> Developer options, and enable "OEM unlock" . "Also USB debugging".
Since we are installing Supersu after, im not sure but its safer to enable "Unknown sources" under the first security tab.
NOTE: this TWRP i will provide, is only meant to be used to install Supersu! Do NOT use it to install any custom ROM. and also dont trust its backups and data wipes/resets.
I would personally install the TWRP, use it to install Supersu and then flash my stock recovery back (only the recovery, not the stock boot). This will keep the root status and leave your stock rom more close to its original state. If you dont have a backup of your stock boot and recovery, i can share how to do it.
Thats the reason i am not openly linking this TWRP, i am afraid to people will brick their devices trying to use this port to flash custom ROMS Cyanogen etc.
BUT i am 100% confident that for rooting purposes only, this port works fine. I will link it to you in PM, cheers

OTG cable/connection ? i dont have and never tested myself.
But i downloaded "Do i have OTG?" and "USB OTG Checker" from playstore and both said that this devide does support OTG, that the OS have the OTG API etc.
Maybe the user manual on samsung's webpage have some more specific info, hope it helps.
PS: if you still did not buy it and want to know my opinion : For gamers and ppl who enjoy photography, dont buy this model. Its hardware is nice, very compact and good priced if you buy cheap. But the auto-focus-less camera makes hard to take pictures of documents for instance. And the touchscreen is buggy for playing games! only 2-point multi-touch and very bad calibrated! fails all the time. The battery is also only 1.500mxx ... you will need to be charging it everyday.

Thanks for the reply. The question is if for example you can connect a flash memory and perform any action. I can not find information about this function in this model, it is for a project.

If those apks i mentioned are correct, this device does support otg stuff.
I can buy a cable to test it out for you. You say flash memory like normal pendrives ?
Thanks. Yes, like pendrives, mouse or keyboard. I will use an IOIO board.
