I've been trying for the last 2 days to update from NAB to NC5. But I can't seem to get it. Its already rooted and I really want to try Sacs Custom v4, but I can't seem to figure a way to do it or thread that helps me fix the problem I'm having. If you need more info I'll be more than happy to give it, I just don't really know what to tell you guys to get this started. Can someone please help me?

What I did was use the one click restore to NAB. Then the OTA update to NC5.
You will have to root ad such again.

Ok, does it have to be a official NAB, and if you don't mind, can you link the thread that you found the one click NAB on? I'd really appreciate it

I'm also curious about theandroidsoul.com/universal-root-de-la-vega-script/. I can follow those instructions, but I'm new to Android and I don't want to inadvertently brick my phone since I'd probably have a hard time fixing it.
Here you go below is the link you will to follow to get root in MJ7

Unfortunately for me, I swear I followed the instructions in that post to the letter, but after the update was applied I lost root. I'm sure I screwed up somewhere because everyone else says it works. But anyway, I was hoping for a way to get it back.

Sorry but just to clarify, you were already on MJ7 and you were able to achieve root on a Verizon S4 using the link that vladimirtm posted?
If so that's great news for me! :fingers-crossed:

Only works if you have yet to take the OTA.
Once you take the OTA and have not followed the instruction, you need to grab a seat and wait for a root method.
Is there no way to roll back and root on 4.2?

Why do you guys take the update, when the last two updates have already broke root? There's not always going to be a root exploit to be found...

This has been asked and answered hundreds of times on this forum.
There is no way to downgrade to an older version.
You WILL soft-brick your phone if you try it.
Even so, there's already people who upgraded to MJ7 and tried to install the MI1 root and watched their phone brick.
And there's no way for them to recover since there's no factory install image for MJ7 yet.

it didnt work when i wanted to update from mi1 to mj7. only update.zip worked for me.
hey guys, so My s3 died two days ago and I just got my s4. Ive been looking at how to root, but it seems like its a bit more difficult because of knox? Im running current firmware with VRUEMK2. Thoughts on easy ways to root and unlock the boot loader?

Can't unlock the bootloader. Research Safestrap. It's your only option.

so hypothetically, if i was to do a factory reset, it would bring me back to the stock original firmware and i would have to re install ally he software updates. Which would be the best too stay on for my situation?

If you're talking about reverting to an older build, forget it. It's impossible. All of your questions have been asked and answered many times. I suggest you do some research. This is a good place to start. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501
So I am at lost in this forum. I have been using my VRUAME7 S4 rooted and running Hyperdrive with Safestrap for a full year now and would like to see if its possible to update to 4.3 or even 4.4. I have been doing searches on the forum and can't seem to find a clear answer.
If anyone knows how to or can point me to the right links, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Ricardo

This is most likely exactly what you are looking for
Hi! Haven't been around in some time and am looking for a little guidance. I am rooted 4.4.2 running AllianceROM_G900TUVU1BNG3 and am looking to seriously update haha. I am thinking about maybe trying Magisk so I can play Pokemon Go (don't judge heh) and would appreciate any help getting me going. It's been awhile but I am comfortable with flashing recoveries and so forth. Not sure if there are steps I need to take ect. since I am so far behind on updates. Thanks for any info you can throw my way :good::good:

Okay well first before you install magisk you'll have to install a new rom because magisk does not support the Android version you're on. If you want, I can link you to some nice ROMs that are stable and provide good battery life. Then after that we can go from there.
Ok, sounds good. I was under the impression that I had to go back to stock unrooted to use magisk. Should I update my TWRP?
