Does the Xperia Z2 from GSM-nation has locked or unlocked Bootloader? If yes, I can go ahead and root it directly?
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
First things first, no Xperia phone comes with an UNLOCKED bootloader, they come with UNLOCKABLE/NOT UNLOCKABLE bootloaders. If it IS unlockable then head to Sony's bootloader unlocking site, and follow the provided instructions. You can find out whether it's unlockable or not by going into dialer and typing *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#SERVICE#*#* in T9) > service info > configuration

Thank you so much for clear instructions and prompt response.

To unlock your bootloader that says "Bootloader unlock allowed:yes", go to the official Sony site for get bootloader's codes, my recommendation is download last version of FlashTool and when you connect your device in flash mode (with phone off push "Back" button and plug usb cable) then you have a "Plugins" tab, go there and select "unlock bootloader" it shows you a window where you put your IMEI and the bootloader unlock code that you get of Sony official site, and flash tool will do the work for you.
If your bootloader says "Bootloades unlock allowed:no" and you have SIM lock, you can try http://www.fastgsm.com that offers now at cheapest prices for Xperia Neo SIM Unlocking and bootloader unlock in the same price, the unlock software is fully compatible with Windows 8.
I hope I helped, Good luck!!
it could not!

Hi, iam new to Sony but did have htc wildfire I've rooted and overclocked, iam about to root Sony Xperia mini but I've noticed someone say theres 2 different methods depending on your bootloader I've done that *# code and checked it says yes so what iam wondering and wanting to find out is how to check the bootloader is locked or unlocked, iam on .62 software iam looking to downgrade, root then update, any help would be appreciated thanks
Sent from my ST15i using xda app-developers app
Connect it to flashtool and look at the Bootloader Status: ROOTED or ROOTABLE. ROOTED means the bootloader is unlocked
Or you type *#*#7378423#*#* and go to service info -> configuration -> rooting status:
bootloader unlocked: yes [obviously it's unlocked ]
bootloader unlock allowed: yes [unlockable]
bootloader unlock allowed: no [not unlockable, only with a paid method]
Ok thank you, iam sure its locked and with *# I get yes so that means its unlockable, all I wanna do is delete standard apps that come on phone. So should I use and follow your method for locked bootloader? Do I just flash straight over the .62, thanks

Sorry also where u say
MAKE SURE PC COMPANION OR SONY UPDATE SERVICE ISN'T RUNNING IN BACKGROUND WHILE YOU ARE FLASHING!!! DON'T USE THIS METHOD IF YOUR BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED, OTHERWISE YOUR DEVICE WILL BRICK!! (Unlocked bootloader can't do updates over the air, but flashing won't destroy your phone on unlocked bootloader!)
Is that on pc? Thanks

Yes this is on PC
Yes just follow the guide to root it and afterwards you can delete all unwanted apps :good:

Hey everyone
I need a quick phone to last me a few months till my upgrade and the Neo V seems like a good deal, brand new for £70.
Now I never buy an android phone unless the bootloader can be unlocked. I understand that phones made after 12w14 cannot be unlocked or something? If the phone is made after 12w14 is there really no way to unlock it? It will be sim locked and I know it's necessary to unlock it to allow fastboot.
Basically can phones made after 12w14 be sim and bootloader unlocked?
Thanks

If you buy your phone brand new from an 'open' store than your phone should be sim unlocked.

If you want to know whether you can unlock your phone or not, here is an excerpt from Sony's forum.
1.First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
2.In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.

Thanks but the phone will almost certainly be locked to T-Mobile.
What I need to know is, if the manufacturing date is past 12w14 is there a way for me to sim unlock and then unlock the boot loader ?

If I'm not mistaken, there is but you've to pay for it as your status says :No
You may use SeTool2
Or Wotanclient for doing so

I have a x10 running 2.3.3 official firmware.
I have rooted it.
So have I unlocked the bootloader?
If no,how to unlock it??
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
Rooting is not part of unlocking bootloader. Check first by dialing *#*#7378523#*#* and if bootloader says YES then you can unlock it. But if you are locked in a specific carrier then you need to unlock your sim first then proceed to unlocking bootloader. Check the development thread and look for proper bypass for bootloader unlocking.

Hey all,
So I've been searching through these forums trying to get my head around the problem of Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No on my L22i, but there's so many threads, and I'm seriously struggling to figure out my best plan of action, so please do forgive my ignorance!
I've checked and my phone is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No. It seems that there's a lot of ideas tossed about, but no real solution given. All I'm trying to do is go from 4.0.4 to 4.1. It seems that it is possible to flash roms without bootloader being unlocked, but obviously I'd just prefer if bootloader was unlocked. I had CM on an old HTC of mine, and I'd even like the option of migrating to that in the future.
So what are my options? CWM Recovery to root my phone to unlock bootloader? Flash a rom that has bootloader unlocked? Something else?
Like I said, I've spent the last while looking though the site to see if I can get my head around what I can/cannot do, but it's all very confusing, so any help would be appreciated. (Beyond just telling me to search.)
Cheers.
Flashing rom will not change the status. Flashing custom kernel not recommended, it will brick it. Bootloader unlock is done via sony web page, you'll get a code which you'll insert into phone and thats it.
Page
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
Just read and maybe contact sony directly
And read this
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/127808
This will give you thr direction.
On short, this option is ussually operator request. If you obtain unlock code from operator toget the phone sim free then you might go to sony centre and ask staff for bootloader unlock.

After you gain unlock code from your operator, so your phone will be sim free, then you might go to sony centre and ask them to unlock your bootloader. Its operator whos asking this stuff to be done, but once your contract over, or you'll get the unlock code to make it sim free, then you can ask sony to unlock bootloader.

unlock code
how much time do we have to wait to ask for the code from the operator?
here in Portugal i think that is 2 years in any operator, but i'm not sure
Tiil end of your contract or you can asl what you need to do whrn you want umlock.
Sent from my MT27i using xda app-developers app
but i don't have contract, i've been with this nunber almost for 15 years, but i bought my xperia u almost 2 years ago.
i better get info with the operator :good:
If i got an unlock code, not from the mobile phone company, but have it and the phone is sim unlocked already, if i send them that code they can still unlock the bootloader?
I have a Xperia U with bootloader allowed: no and SIM lock. Is there any solution to unlock the bootloader?
Ask them...

Guys, i want to make it clear on this thread.
If bootloader unlock allowed: no is there, NO ONE CAN HELP YOU. NOT EVEN SONY. ITS YOUR FREAKING TELCO THAT CAUSED IT. FIND THEM, NOT XDA.
