Hi there. Today i just noticed some lag after i recorded a video. I recorded a video for about a minute and a half to 2 minutes each time and then when i pressed stop on the screen...it stopped recording but kind of jammed or froze on that same screen still showing the red stop button, both times it did this. Is that normal for Galaxy's to do or is it just my phone? I went to test it again later but i recorded a shorter video and was fine and no lag, but seems that larger or longer videos seem to freeze or jam it for a bit. I was in a very dusty, dirt road area and just maybe though something may of gotten into the phone and wrecked it a bit but just had it replaced with a brand new device nonetheless.

I personally haven't heard of/read about anyone experiencing this (nor have I experienced this myself) so maybe it's just an isolated incident - have you tried searching?
I regularly record 10 mins vids fine if it's of interest
Are/were you on stock?/root?
Are you on 4.1.2 stock rom with custom kernel ?
Then try to search its widely known issue
Hope this helps

What rom are you using custom? stock?
im on Android 4.0 stock rom. It happened two or 3 times yesterday. The device is as is out of the box...no root, nothing customised or anything.
If you are experiencing this issue recording to external microSD, try setting it to the internal SD card storage to see if it fixes the issue. If it does, then your microSD card might be dodgy.

ok cool yeah it is recording to external sd card. the card seems to work fine though, it reads and writes fine so maybe it just took time to save the whole file onto it?
I had this problem, too.
I enabled the camera stabilisation and the bug was gone...
Hope this was helpful
Hello, I just picked up a HTC One X+ and was wondering if my experience is out of the ordinary, as this is the first real smartphone I've ever had. I picked up a Samsung Dart last year when I wanted a cheap smartphone, but needless to say this phone is in a different league. :good: I noticed after playing a handful of HD videos, and even standard-def video in the Chrome browser, that the top of the HOX+, back and display in front, got pretty hot. I was expecting this device to run warm occasionally, as the reviews had warned me [1], but not this hot. I downloaded the Battery Widget app and set about finding out what the problem was.
I was able to get the internal temperature up to 55 C after playing a bunch of 1080p HD videos, all downloaded from the Apple movie trailers website [2], in MX Player, which seems to decode in software most of the time. I think 1080p decoding takes up 2 cores out of the 4, as the load average in Android is usually around 2 when I enable the Show CPU Usage overlay. I then really stressed it by playing more than a dozen 1080p HD videos back to back for 30-40 minutes straight, and got it up to 60 C, as shown in the screenshot. At that point, the top of the phone was pretty damn hot; it wouldn't burn you, but you wouldn't want to put it up to your head for a phone call.
Do all these quad-core smartphones get this hot or is mine possibly defective? I've been looking for other threads that mention overheating, on this phone and others like the GS3 or Note 2, looks like a few people have been able to get their HOX/+ up to the 60s occasionally [3], while other quad-core phones hit high 40s and low 50s max.
This is a very good smartphone otherwise, haven't gotten voice and internet activated yet, but the display is beautiful and the software is very snappy. The audio seems to crackle a bit in podcasts, not sure if it's the speaker or decoding software. Photos are good, not great, and video is average, both don't seem as good as what I've seen from the original Galaxy Note. But these are the handful of blemishes, it's a very good device in most other ways, pleasure to use the display and the nice build fits my hand well.
Should the overheating be a deal-breaker or am I just being too picky with my first real smartphone? The video is important to me: I was planning on using this phone to watch HD video on the go, on that beautiful 720p display. I'm torn, let me know what you think.

At 60.4 C skin will burn... Does the phone continue to run at that temp or does it shutdown? Also, is you phone stock or have you done modifications? I do not believe that to be normal. My phone has gotten hot before but never hot enough to burn. I suggest contacting HTC for their opinion. They would want to know if they have phones in circulation that can actually cause harm when used.

My HOX+ continues to run fine when its status is Overheat, as far as I can tell. I'm running the HTC Sense 4+ Android 4.1.1 that comes with the HOX+, specifically HTC build 1.17.707.1. I have not modified the pre-installed Android software at all, other than adding a few apps. The temperature drops back into the 50s within a minute and back to the baseline mid-30s within 2-3 mins.
Do you run HD videos for half an hour or more at a time? Because if not, I haven't been able to stress my HOX+ that much in any other way that I normally use it, as I don't play heavy 3D games. I have been thinking about trying to stress it with the Nvidia Glowball demo that got it really hot for that guy in the third link I gave, just to see how hot it gets that way.
If anybody else can try the same HD videos and see if they can reproduce, that might help. You can download 1080p HD trailers at davestrailerpage.co.uk (use the procedure linked at the top "Apple Trailer Download Tips" for Apple trailers) and play several of them back to back in MX Player- best in playlist mode with no break between videos, that's what I did to get the temp up that high- to see if you can get the same internal temperature in the Battery Widget app by Elvison, though other apps that report battery temperature may report the same number. Or there's always the Glowball demo.
I don't think the outside of the HOX+ actually reaches 60 C, I think that is an internal temperature, the outside is likely a bit cooler. I was able to hold the top of the phone in my hands after it got that hot. It was uncomfortable and I just wouldn't want to put it up to my ears and face!
I will contact HTC soon and see what they say. It would help if others can independently verify similar behavior.

I had exactly the same problem, i too was considering returning the phone, whilst playing mp4`s the phone would heat up to the point that the status led flashes red and green (external about 45 C), the battery would only last about 2 hrs too, i then flashed arhd and elitekernel, now the phone never heats up even when playing 3d games such as horn, nova 3, mc4, etc and battery life is great with about 5-7 hours of hd mp4 playback depending on brightness, of course flashing these things involves rooting so if you are not willing to make the risk you are probably better off returning the phone.
I have the same problem (it's over 62 C degree). I sent my phone to their official service. They changed the mainboard but it didn't solve the overheating problem. Then everything on my phone went wrong: Overheating, screen flickering, battery drains (phone closes at 14% battery), custom lags...
Evereytime I asked about the problems they told me the same. "Heat is normal... You're the first person who claim this problem... Send your phone to our service..." etc. However, their empty words didn't solve my problem.000
So, I sued to the HTC and it's distributor here.
hey guys, Z2 was launched this week in Brazil so i am looking to replace my lg g2 for z2. but i saw many complaints about people not being able to use the camera when is hot outside. even after 5 pictures the camera got warm and shutdown. i will never use 4k video, but i plan to use the max 16:9 manual resolution, ia mode and 1080p 60fps. in my g2 i always recorded long videos and never got a camera shutdown, even tried yesterday recording 4k with a mod and after 5 minutes video was saved and nothing happened. and people with this problem live in places with good temperatures like 20c, here in my city usually is 30c or 35c so i am a bit worried if i will buy a very expensive phone without being able to use the camera. so this was already fixed or is hardware problem?
My country's temperature is also at 30c. The camera will get hot, but I've never experienced a shutdown before

Mine is from batch 14w22 which I believe is a newer build and I've gotten a shutdown notice due to heat and I was only using 1080p. I was using the filters effect which was probably resource taxing.
Update, I am on firmware 402. I believe there is an update called 438 out now or soon.

Freeze overheat control service
I live in a very hot city, and it's almost impossible to use AR effects. 4k video at least works for a couple of minutes, but AR effects closes as soon as I try to use it due to camera overheating. I was wondering if the temperature service was disabled... If this issue would be solved. So I froze the overheating control service using titanium backup ( Overheat control - com.sonyericsson.psm.sysmonservice). And it worked! My camera stopped to force closing due to overheating. I think it's a software problem, the temperature level trigger to shut down the camera must be have settled too low,, if the phone was too hot, it should turn it off entirely, not just the camera. Well... My camera is working fine now. But I think this is not a safe solution. I guess if for some reason my Z2 get really hot, with overheating control disabled, it would not be powered off to prevent damage and my phone would be toasted. But I think there will be no trouble to freeze overheating control before using camera and activate it later... That's really annoying, but it's better than lose a moment cause your camera refuses to work due to supposed overheat.
*just to remember... In order to freeze overheat control service you need to be rooted
SONY Xperia Z2 D6543 4.4.2. 17.1.2.A.0.314 stock ROM rooted
I have downclocked z2 with mpdecision and multicore powersave. No overheating issues during 4k recording.

I just got my Z2; Ambient temp around 22c; had to really work it to get a thermal shutdown; switching from multi burst camera to 4k to generate the heat. It was the stupid CGI Dinosaur nonsense that did it in the end. I can't see it being an issue with normal point and shoot.
If you find this hot, try brave frontier for 5 mins. It made my phone reboot cause it was to hot to operate

I had a problem with the overheating issue too,but while playing games - Compared my Z2 with Iphone 5 playing Dungeon hunter 4 - ew my phone overheated like crazy at the upper right corner where is the CPU.. ( no overheating at all from the Iphone.. - -) And another thing is that the glue holding the camera class circle is abit spilled at some places (you need to get closer to see it)...im not sure the overheating coused that .. but while gaming or vrecording the phone overheats alot.
Hi guys. I am considering replacing my HTC Sensation with Z2. With Sensation, I use to take lots of pictures when I am on some trip. Generally, I am speaking about taking 50+ pictures when I am on trip (ZOO, castle, rocks...). Can Z2 manage this? Can you help me please? Thank you

Well mate, I don't know what to tell you, some people are reporting that its impossible for them to use cam at all, not only 4k but for taking pictures,
for myself I have never experienced over heating problems with normal usage, said that i meant on using camera for taking photos or videos which arent in 4k mode. If you're gonna use it as camera, I strongly suggest not to play games on it just before you start heavy using camera for example.
Where I live, the temperature was over 39 degrees of C, I recorded 4k outdoors for more then 8 mins, took lots of (+20) pictures in nature and all and never had problem, just don't leave it direct on sun, it gets very hot and it becomes probably useless,
you only have to take 'care' with those kind of things, other then that you're ok.
In my case, my z2 would certainly manage that kind of usage without a problem.
So here is some info i gathered from 5 Xperia Z2s
Device 2 and 3 match my 1st Z2 and my replacement Z2, however i managed to get 21 mins of 4k recording with my 2014w22 replacement device
Good thing ive got a bunch of freinds with Xperia Z2s and xperias in general
Device 1:
purchase date: 15th of August
41mins -4k rec
Temp after rec:61c
batch: 2014w29
Device 2:
purchase date: 8th of June
3mins:59sec -4k rec
Temp after rec:72c
batch: 2014w17
Device 3:
Purchase Date: 31st of June
5mins:33sec -4k rec
temp after rec: 58c
batch: 2014w22
So here is something ive knoticed, new xperias around w30 or newer are flawless. there are people here in XDA who can prove that too :/
edit- forgot to mention, devices 1 and 3 didnt have any heating issues under normal ussage
Just tried 4k recording. Stopped it manually at 10:00. Can't imagine me using it in the near future. Flickering screen indoors with tl-tubes, and I won't be buying an 4k screen anytime soon .
Mind you though, it's around 18 degrees C here. I can imagine the phone quiting on me a lot sooner when it's 30C. Also tried AR, no heating problems so far.
But, when it was 30+ degrees, the camera did shut down after 5 minutes of testing the white balance. But that was before I installed .314. So I would have to re-test that. Unfortunately there's a fat chance we will reach those temps before next year.

I got w17, manually stopped my recording around 10 mins when I was outside, ambient temperature about 35,36 degrees.
My D6543 is w22. It's working fine now after freeze overheat control service. No more camera closing due to overheat. I could not even start AR effect before and I was not playing games or any hard usage before trying. 4k video is not an issue for me cause I won't use it. But before freezing overheat control, sometimes my camera refuses to take even simple photos....
Ambient temperature: 28°
Battery temp: 36°
CPU temp: 44°
Now let's start AR effects (overheat control service is disabled)
After 7 minutes recording
Battery: 47°
CPU: 72°
Temperatures seems to be stable, they were not increasing since minute 3....
Now 4k recording...
Before
Battery: 43°
CPU: 54°
After 4 minutes
*using internal storage
Battery: 53°
CPU: 84°
I accidentally stopped recording. But it seems it was still getting hotter.

Has anyone else experienced the V10 freezing on a single frame while watching YouTube videos? That's the first thing I noticed when I got my phone and thought it was just the video I was watching but now after a week watching a YouTube video is hit or miss for me. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm on AT&T version.
That same thing happens to me, I have to change it to 1080P and rewind a few seconds so it'll play smoothly.
I saw the issue brought up in another thread this morning and decided to test it out as I've mainly been watching in 1080p. Tried a couple movie trailers and random videos and these are my results. If it was 1440p but wasn't taking up the whole screen (black bars) then it never froze. Same resolution but full screen it froze 70 percent of the time. It would usually stutter a couple seconds before freezing completely but once stuck the only way to unfreeze would be to rewind or fast forward a bit..but then a few seconds later it would freeze again. I did notice something else too. Anything titled 4k, but was being played at 1440p obviously, froze 100 percent of the time. The only time it never froze like I said was when it was 1440 with black bars. Specifically a scene from the movie troy.
Side note...troy is a badass movie if you haven't seen it.
Hopefully an update pushed by YouTube or carrier adresses this issue. Its not extremely important to me as it's always bothersome to constantly have to change YouTube's resolution to 1440p but for the simple sake of unintended problems being fixed, I hope it's soon.
Yup you're spot on I was checking out Max Lee and MKBHD videos and wondered why they froze. 1440p is what freezes the playback ugh.
youtube lag
i hope you guys could help. but i have noticed that my youtube app has been lagging. when watching a video and trying to minimize the one im watching. the animation is really laggy, same goes with my playstore. i consider it a lag because i have an outdated lg g3 dual lte with regards to its software but an updated youtube and llaystore, and everything on the g3 is real smooth and fine i hope you guys can help it really bugs me.
Same here. (Heres my comment from another forum) I noticed my T mobile Lg V10 playing videos really choppy when I tested it alongside my brother's Lg G3, and said videos would freeze up totally with about 75% of the ones I'd test set at 1440p resolution. The vids that played were stuttering noticeably. The G3 handled all 8 to 10 videos I tested at 1440p with absolutely no problems , with a smoother frame rate as well. After much research I decided it's gotta be a very odd GPU issue /bug and I should attempt to return/exchange it before my 2 week return window passed. When I went in store to comeplete the process I decided to test the display model Lg V10, which was right next to the G4. So I tested them both simultaneously, and it too had the same video freezing issue at 1440p and played videos lackluster in comparison to the G4 which was 1 foot away and performing beautifully! Afterwards I explained and demonstrated the issue to the very condescending employee and store manager/supervisor, which they oddly passed off as a data signal issue or bug with the youtube app ,along with a couple other nonsensical excuses my brain couldn't even process at the time. Long story short, after nearly getting into a heated verbal dispute they refused to waive the $50 restocking fee for a replacement (I was planning on playing it safe and just get the G4) they said the phone ,"operates fine" and that their own G4,s and Galaxy Note's do the same thing sometimes. Mhm...right. I refused to pay 50 extra bucks to switch devices due to an obvious GPU defect that effects a noticeable percentage of V10 owners (just search forums like this and it's obvious). I decided to take the temporary loss and stick with this phone until the earliest moment I can use my jump on demand and get my 1st choice the G4.

So u think it's hardware related and cannot be fixed by a simple update? The thought hadn't even crossed my mind to return it as I imagine a software update of some sort would fix it.

That's a possibility but there's no guarantee. That's why people who experience these annoying video playback issues should explain it to LG and their carrier asap ,as I have. This phone has the specs and screen to play 1440p with no problems, so perhaps a software update would fix the issue. Hopefully

thank you so much and for clearing that out. It really bothers me, to think that the LG V10 has 4GB of RAM and has one of the latest, if not the latest gpu but experiences these types of issue. Even the simplest animations on The latest Play Store when going from one tab to another ,the animation stutters a lot. And im pretty sure you guys can notice to that when you minimize the window while youre watching on youtube the animation stuttees to and the back ground kind of blinks while pulling the window down. I have noticed all of these issues because when comapring it to the G3, the V10 really is not behaving well. And another issue i have noticed is when i downloaded the game GT Racing 2, graphics cant be raised to the optimal and but with the G3 the game enables the graphics you would expect from these kinds of GPU. in short the graphics it offers to me even at maximum is what you would see om mediatek processors. And i do believe these goes with all the V10 and not an isolated case and that SUCKS!
I don't normally watch YouTube in 4k as to me it is a waste bandwidth on a 5.7 inch screen... but I digress...
I just went and watched the Batman vs. Superman trailer in 4k and, other than having to switch to WiFi because T-Mo where I am couldn't keep up, it played smoothly through for the 2+ minutes with no hitching or freezing... do you have a link to what video you played that caused the issue?
As far as gaming goes... the G3's SD801 has the Adreno 330 vs the V10 with the Adreno 418 in the SD808... not the 430 in the 810. They are not the same class of GPU and even though they have the same 128 ALU count, there are other features that still allow the 330 to beat the 418 in numerous benchmarks.
The V10 is marketed as a premium build quality photo/video/media device, not a hard core gaming flagship.
I see no issues in the Play Store either... which animations are you speaking of? I see slight hitching when you out run the cached content when vertical scrolling fast, and it has to grab more, but nothing heavy. Everything slides in smoothly the from the bottom when I swipe from paid to free etc...

You're most welcome! I do notice stuttering after a few weeks owning it when moving from task to task a little more often than I expected with such a new phone. The YouTube video playing though is just not impressive so far. My G2 played 1080p more smooth and my brother's G3 handles up to 1440p beautifully. I compiled a short list of about 8 or 9 videos that display the issue, I thought it may have been an issue with videos with "4k" in the title but it also happens with several other vids. Didn't realize I'm not allowed to link them here yet but out of maybe 15 videos I tested ,at least 8 froze up seconds into playing while the audio continues . All in all it flat out should NOT be playing vids less impressively than 1 or 2 yr old phones hopefully they get enough emails that'll prompt them to rectify this issue.
my att V10 freezes at 1 minute every time playing this video in 1440p

Yup. Add that one to the list that freezes for me too. I'm starting to get really annoyed.
Mine freezes too on that video, but I just find it hard to care. Not saying no one should care, but it's not a dead/life thing.
I was testing my sd card that arrived today and noticed my read speed was severely lower than the advertised 90mb/s. I'm talking less than 20. Then it dawned on me that I had chosen to encrypt the card upon insertion so I removed the encryption which caused the speed to go up to 85.
My question is, could encryption be causing the performance hit? Are any of you experiencing the freezing encrypted as well?
Not sure how it could...just a thought.

My Verizon V10 also froze, not at exactly 1 min, but about 40 seconds or so later. So next I watched another 1440p from the same poster, similar issues. Then I watched another 1440p from another source.....no issues. Since the video in question was posted 2 years ago it had plenty of comments, so I took a quick look, and noted that at least one person had similar issues viewing the videos on a laptop with a AMD processor.
I also noticed that on my laptop the video quality 2160p can be selected, not just 1440p which is all the youtube app on the V10 is allowing. Maybe there is a encoding difference or the youtube app that causes issues? What got me thinking it could be app related is looking for a faster browser than Chrome. Dolphin is so much faster..... Instead of youtube app content, maybe try some of the video samples from somewhere that streams 4k using/thru HTML5? I tried a couple of sites with no problem, looked like 4k, but the players didn't give me stats on the actual playback quality.

thanks again and i really hope they do something about it. i just cant accept the fact that its the latest flagship of LG, and it fails to impress a lot of the owners and when comparing it as you have said it , to a 2 year old phone , it kind of is inferior to it in some aspects. considering youtube is not that complicated. And ive also noticed that the youtube app crashes frequently. i dont know if it happens to you but it happens to me. and to some other apps too, with me just scrolling down the page. ???
My v10 (att) has no issues with animations, but consistently freezes on 1440p. However, using Google Chrome and the HTML5 player, 1440p runs just fine. Odd.
Nope. I take it back. It can do 60fps in Chrome, which it can't do in the YouTube app. Video flat out crashes trying to do 1440p in Chrome.

Something is seriously wrong here. I went to go record chrome crashing at 1440p. Which it did, then I opened YouTube and tried to do it there. Oddly enough, with my recording software running, it didn't crash. As soon as I finished recording I tried again and sure enough it crashed right at 1 minute. I say it's a software bug. Lets just wait till marshmallow. I used "Rec." to record. Will upload later

Well my v10 stutters on 1080 where my wife's does just fine. But as far as gaming my phone blazes just as my note 4 did no issues at all. Just with the youtube app it freezes. But watching them through the browser no issue only happens with youtube app for my phone
---------- Post added at 08:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:36 PM ----------
It is only on youtube I can watch 2k videos from sd and 1080 on other video apps

There have been updated pushed to AT&T from what I have heard that fixed the fingerprint, youtube as well as a few other issues.
Hi,
I noticed my xperia 1 mark III is overheating even in normal use, especially in 120Hz mode. I hope sony will fix it as this device is really scalding.
It really burns!
This is the hottest device I ever had
Software version: 61.0.A.11.23
You're burning up your battery. Time is of the essence, resolve this issue fast. Shutdown the phone if it gets too hot!!!
Auto thermal shutdown may not protect the display/mobo especially if in hot ambient temperatures, in direct sunlight, or when charging.
Keep brightness at 50% or less.
Factory reset.
If that fails...
Find the apks or/and services causing to high drain.
If that fails, return the device.
The clock is ticking, Mr Wick tic-tok...
This is a serious problem. I took some photos and videos (4k and slowmotion) while standing in the sun. Outside temperature was about 23°C (73°F). After about 5 minutes I got an overheat message.
An app that I installed earlier registered an internal temperature of 40.5°c. It felt really hot to (while in a bumper case).
After I put the phone on a granite kitchen table it cooled down in about 10 minutes.

It is serious. Turn off the phone when it feels very warm before it goes over temperature.
Using a AMOLED display in direct sunlight is never a good plan. Limit it to seconds of use.
I have had this same problem since I got it to the point where I got an alert that some apps would be shutdown.
US Version purchased from Adoroma in the states : 61.0.A.11.23
Just another aggravating issue with this phone. Some are having boot loops of a sort also! What is wrong with these companies? Can they not produce a decent product anymore? 1300.00 and it's junk???????????
I am getting overheating as well, a little warm most of the time I use the phone.
Definitely was the 120hz display turned on. Less warm when the 60.
When using the wireless charger.
Anytime I use the cameras.
I am on the latest update as well.
Hm, very intriguing issue with $1300 flagship smartphone from such a respectable brand. I had similar problem with Xperia 1 II in several occasions. And... I think I know what's the problem (not bloody hot SD888 as you might suggest!). Please have a good look at dissasembly video:
Then compare it with $390 LG V60 ThinQ disassembly video from the same guy. Spot the difference! And it is - missing cooling system on Xperia 1 II / 1 III whereas LG V60 has quite big copper vapour chamber! Maybe that's why my LG V60 never gets really hot. So the question is ... WTF are you doing SONY?!
Well, I just sent back my first Pixel - 5A - for overheating. I have been watching the 1 iii and the 5 iii as a possible purchase...but I am turned off by the dedicated assistant button that might possibly be remappable... but for sure I will NOT buy either of these mark 3 phones if they overheat! Makes me sick just how badly most new phones are functioning.
Yeah same, it seems to turn off randomly when using the cameras and when 120HZ screen is on.

I think it's the case for warranty replacement or even return if possible. This is one of the reason why I don't buy expensive brand new phones parallel imported (not officially sold in my country). Just because it means no proper warranty, no service, no nothing.
My Xperia 1 III is getting extremely hot even when taking photos (only 2-3) then get message about hot temperature and apps shutting down.
I use Streamlabs mostly (sometimes Prism) to broadcast to YouTube, foundthe phone almost useless! Overheating in seconds from start of s stream! I'm using my old Samsung Note 10 again as Sony wasn't simply useful.
Now I found a solution to it (sorry solution is too big word)
- I've turned "object tracking" off in camera
- I've turned autofocus on in camera
- I've turned 120hz off
Today we had hot day here in UK (27 Celcius ) I did my tests.
Streamlabs at 1080p , 7000kbps , 30fps run outdoor for about an hour smoothly. Connected to charger started to overheat.
Not to mention that tethering makes it hot quickly (so with Samsung).
Prism at 1080p 60fps run smoothly for couple of minutes and then crashed.
Didn't connect the charger.
I use Streamlabs to transmit 5-6 hours of stream into YouTube using mobile network in most if the times and whilst driving (so changing stations constantly)
I found that using WiFi it doesn't get as hot.
Also charging makes it very hot - SONY advertised it as able to by powered directly by a charger without charging battery, how and where do I find that option?
Is it available using car charger with quick charge 3.0?
I like the phone , like the shape , size and feel to it. Camera is OK (I own Sony a6500 )
Hate the fact of poor selfie camera in such expensive phone (I do live streams using selfie cam too)
Right I've ordered a return of my phone and have 30 days to send it back what alternatives do I have? Really like the SONY if it wasn't overheating I'd love it. Is there a solution to it? Cooler anything?
The things I like about the phone are:
*shape and overall feel in hand
*Cameras are ok don't really see if they great quality or not will still use my a6500 camera.
*Like the fact that can use sd card
*Love finger print reader in power button and seperate camera button
*like the fact that there's no rounded edges - hate them in my Samsung Note
I blame my problems with overheating by poorly made apps not the phone itself and not sure changing the phone will change it.
What are the options should I consider? Samsung S21 Ultra ? iPhone 12,13?
I'm a SONY fan and had many if their phones and that's why I'm looking for a solution otherwise would send it back straight away...
Can anyone help me with my problem?
Many thanks
Bart
Unfortunately greedy sony didn't provide any cooling solution to mark 3... Check disassembly videos, there is no any cooling solution at all, like you will find in asus - small vapor chamber etc. Literally nothing!
They knew snap 888 is overheating. They must have tested this device before releasing it, isn't it?
But no, still didn't apply any cooling solution. And that's a big shame and huge problem of this device.
Not sure if qualcomm provide any updated drivers to assess this problem or not. Or if sony will try to fix it. So far they did nothing and still it overheats. Mine too and you are right by saying that on 3G/5G it is hotter than on wifi.
I wonder how they can market battery as capable and better for 3 years with such hot device. Temperature of course has huge negative impact on battery longevity.
Sad but true
I'm quite shocked! Thanks for the info about disassembly videos...
I'm thinking if getting a cooler which you attach to the body.
What I forgot to mention that cameras itself (the lenses) don't get that hot is the area under them and closer to the centre. So must be processor and lack of cooling system.
Not sure what to do...
We have a hot weather now so I will test it intensively (if I was a Sony tester I'd never allow for the phone to be released like this).
Heating problems is why I keep saying that for any SOC/CPU/GPU manufacturer to keep upping the speeds of these things is STUPID! I can virtually guarantee that from now on every new CPU produced by all OEM's is going to overheat! Have you ever walked into a data center, with hundreds of servers running? You have to wear ear protection because the roar of all the internal cooling fans is deafening!
So then "we" attempt to put similar CPU's inside a device the size of a small remote control WITHOUT a fan and wonder why it overheats? There are only so many ways to keep the phone(s) cool. Use them while frozen solid in a block of ice, or better yet, stop running so many CPU/GPU intensive apps all at the same time. It's simple thermodynamics at work here. The more you have running at the same time, the harder the SOC needs to work, the hotter it is going to run. Another solution, that is literally unacceptable to most people, is to code in a lowering of the speed of the SOC. If this needs to be done then it becomes very clear that building a new, faster SOC every year is STUPID!
One more thing... I've heard that Xperia 1III is capable of powering the phone directly without battery charging to lower the heat...Does anyone know how do I turn this future on?

This is applicable with the game enhancer. You can add some apps there and when you open it, you can enable HS power control. Also sony just release a new firmware that answer you with this issue.. you can check my video

Thanks a lot , tomorrow I will be testing - doing long live stream on YouTube using Streamlabs, I always keep my phone under charger as I drive HGV sometimes for 3-4hrs non stop so battery would die.
It also going to be hot day here in UK and having the phone close to windscreen won't help - I know I shouldn't complain about overheating in such circumstances but my phone overheats even when taking photos although I have a feeling that after last system update its looking better , also as I mentioned before switching off object tracking has improved how smooth camera works using Streamlabs and Prism.
I'm considering buying a cooler for my phone too.
I will post my report tomorrow of how it went.
Many thanks

I found the future now in Game Enhancer app, you can power it directly. Not sure how it will perform yet. Tomorrow will send my report.
I often run streaming app in the background and not sure if Game Enhancer will work that way. I run nav app (Sygic Truck).
Heat problem has gone down significantly for me after the latest update yesterday. Usually the phone got really warm even with me just browsing using Chrome or going through Facebook. Now even when playing ROK or Mobile Legends it doesn't get that warm.
