[Q] remove htc calendar - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hello everyone... New to these forums and new to custom roms. Just got the HTC one m8 and I do not like the stock calendar. I would like a way to completely remove it. I was thinking of going with viper Rom. Is this possible without breaking other things using this Rom?

If you root and S-off, you can remove whatever you'd like. I opted to remove the calendar in favor of Google calendar

[Q] Most attractive option for selling an Aria?

I finally upgraded to one of the ginormous phones after fighting it for so long. I just couldn't take the "out of memory" errors anymore on my Aria. So now that I have the HTC One X, I'd like to sell my mint-condition Aria. It's got CWM and CyanogenMod 7.0.3, but like I said, with hardly any apps on it, it's constantly out of memory.
So my question is what should I do with this Aria before I list it on Craigslist?
Official HTC Android 2.2
Fresh CM7
Other?
Plain ol' stock Aria's are selling for $100-$125 here in LA. Should I add a premium price for having it rooted and custom ROM installed?
In my experience, having a rooted phone with a custom ROM had actually lessened interest in phones I've sold. I would go full stock, unrooted, stock recovery also. You never know when someone will want to do a factory reset, and if I understand correctly, this causes problems for rooted phones. The people that know how and are interested in rooting will do it anyway, the rest will be perfectly happy with it in stock form.
Good point. Thanks.

ohhh man. I hope your One X is on 1.85 or you will be very, very sad.. (AT&T im assuming)
Unfortunately not... 2.2. Hopefully they'll break it though.

I'd go with rooted 2.3.5 liberty S rom. I'd delete some stock apps and overclocked the core. Then i'd sell it. But that's just me
Stock ROM I would pay less if the Phone's ROM is customed.
I'd just leave it on a stock looking ROM.

Dude... Jealous of your rooted One X!
stock with automatic transmission
My guess is you would have better luck for resale with stock ROM.
I base this on the experience of selling a nearly new car. I have always been a fan of manual transmissions and to this day that's all we have in the garage. About 20 years ago I was assigned overseas and had to sell a nearly new Mazda 626 with a stick. I got few calls, all of whom had overlooked "manual transmission" in the ad and backed out immediately when they realized it. I ended up selling it back to the dealer at a big loss.
Only five percent or so of automobiles on the road today have manuals. I imagine custom ROM users are a similarly small minority.
Even though the experience is better, even though my own technophobe wife loves her Aria running CM7 nightly, a random buyer--who probably will drive up with an automatic--would be more likely to buy with the stock ROM.
PS: By mentioning a car sale 20 years ago, I've probably identified myself as part of an even smaller minority: old people who run with a custom nightly
Here's what you should do. Root it, install custom recovery, boot loader should be unlocked after using unrevoked. Then flash Liberated FR008, so it will look stock, but they can read up on root and take it from there if they care enough

This is well and good until they decide to factory reset within the ROM for whatever reason. I'm not sure if that is disabled in Liberated FR008 or not, but better safe than sorry IMO.

All a factory reset does is wipe /data and /cache
Root is in /system/xbin
Could you elaborate on problems that would arise?

I can tell you that once I tried to wipe data from the ROM itself (not CWM Recover) and it hosed the phone. I couldn't boot to anything.
This was when I first got my Aria and didn't know much about rooting Android devices.
I would restore Stock and sell it. If the buyer asks about any techie-stuff like "is it rooted?" you could root it, load CWM Recovery, and ask if he'd like a custom ROM on it. You could even ask for a little extra $$ for the effort... Just a thought.

[Req] Stock Apps after unlocking bootloader and rooting

Hello all, new to the HOX+ from AT&T, but I noticed after rooting and unlocking, I lost the system apps such as flashlight and calculator. Can anyone possibly post them here? Or tell me how to find them?

You can also get those apps back by flashing an RUU.

Yes you are right, BUT he must locked his phone to be able flashing the RUU, and then if he went to re-unlocked he will suffer the same problem .
So installing the missed app separately is the only safe solution.
Thanks

I feel like a better title for this thread would be beginner or "noob" thread since many people feel their questions aren't stupid even if they are. Just a suggestion

If I unlocked my bootloader is that enough to get the updates direct from HTC? or do I need to get a unlock code from ATT? or would I have had to buy a unlocked one straight from HTC?
First post! Thanks for starting a stupid question thread!
@ the poster above me, from what I've read so far, any unlocking of the bootloader will disable the OTA HTC updates. But I might have misread, I'm just learning about all this too and have read way too many pages of posts already. I'm sure someone in the know will chime in to confirm.
Now, my turn! I Just switched from iPhone to the HTC one and have really started considering flashing cleanRom 2.5. I have a kindle fire that I managed to root and get jelly bean on, so I'm not a total noob, but I wanna ask a few noob questions. Here goes:
I have spent a long time getting my phone setup the way I like it and when I flash cleanrom, is there a way to carry over the apps and things I've installed? No biggie if not, but I've got some saved game data on here already and some other stuff I'd rather not lose if there was an easy way to save. And is everything working correctly in the cleanrom to where I can still make zoes and use the camera, gallery, etc?
Also, any tips for getting this thing rooted? I was planning on downloading that "noob-proof" toolkit and going from there. I've read about people getting freezes and install issues using twrp, which scares me a bit because I have no idea what that other thing is (starts with a c) that people are using. and I read something Scott said that you should never do a system wipe or you could lose your backup?? I know I used to wipe the system, cache, and something else when I rooted my kindle but I never tried to go back to stock or even look to see if I had a backup file somewhere. maybe if there's a step by step guide you could point me to that I might have missed?
Thanks for the help, I'm glad I joined the forum!

No, unlocking the bootloader won't allow that. If we get s-off then changing the cid and flashing a stock developer edition Rom with a relocked bootloader should allow that if one so desired.

There is no "easy" way perse' to back that stuff up and carry over. There is a way I saw sometime back to root without unlocking the bootloader. Theoretically one could do that and use titanium backup... But I don't really know if it will save your game progress... And you will have to offload your titanium backup data to a computer or something before unlocking the bootloader because it will erase everything. The thing about not wiping system came about because of all the problems people have been having with aroma freezing. Some people seem to have it worse then others but the idea is if aroma screws up over and over you still have an os to boot into. I personally (cross my fingers) have had little trouble with that (maybe 1 freeze or 2 then it runs through all the way). I'd suggest leaving the system folder alone until you know how your phone reacts to aroma installs.

Good to know, would it effect anything if i got a unlock code? Also if i were to reflash the 1.26 RUU could i then grab them using the update in the menu section that is not labled att update?
Can I flash roms from other HTC one carriers?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Not sure about the unlock code but I suspect it would only be a SIM unlock to use on other carriers. Not sure it changes the cid. The other software update your talking about won't grab firmware updates from HTC... There was a software update pushed through that recently for the HTC media thing I read it was so media sharing could be turned on without having mobile hotspot activated.

Root Help
I am having some issues rooting my phone.
I unlocked my bootloader successfully on the HTCdev site
I created a folder on my desktop called android, the folder has the fastboot application and "twrp.img" file
i boot my phone into fastboot (? sorry 100% new to this not sure if i said that correctly)
connect usb cable
command prompt cd desktop\android
then ....android>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
then it reads...
C:\Users\Owner\Desktop\ANDROID>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
error: cannot load 'twrp.img': Unknown error
Im not sure what im doing wrong, its probably something very stupid. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Probably a bad download of twrp
I did a back up and want to know if I need to flash the boot img and what I need to get the latest update?

Bluetooth low energy

Hi folks, just wondering, got this HTC one not rooted, problem is my flexbit don't sync with the phone coz it uses HTC's own drivers or something. My question is since 4.3 has dropped and is BLE enabled is it possible to this feature to be ported back to 4.2 and patch it without having to root my phone. Decided not to root my phones as I was spending too much time tying to sort **** out.
