New flash player exploit?

http://msisac.cisecurity.org/advisories/2012/2012-068.cfm
If running a vulnerable version, would it be possible to gain root through this exploit?
Also if the app is a pre-installed system application.
The reason I'm asking is because the HTC ONE XL currently has no root method running the new firmware 2.20.
We are desperate over there

Someone must have some insight

Is this a stupid question or doesn't anyone know?

that article says someone can gain access users on a device, and only gain the privileges of those users, so no root if it's even the same case for android

[Q] What is the best root for HOX+.

So I bought this phone a while ago and I want to install apps, that require root access like Titanium backpack and such. I tried a lot of rooting techniques on XDA, but none of them worked for me. So, all of you HOX+ users, what root did you use and does it work properly? Thank you in advance.
AW: [Q] What is the best root for HOX+.
use the toolkit for HOX+
I just installed a custom rom. Root comes with them.

OK, I found the tool and it seems good. But do I have to do something additional, like unlock the bootloader or something.

Yup. Unlock the bootloader.

Dude, go here:

Read the Original Post very carefully. All the information you need is there and withing the Toolkit. Trust me.

New DNA owner, questions about rooting-coming from S3

So i decided to sell my S3 and get a DNA. I am a serial crackflasher and know that the process on the DNA is quite different than the S3. Before I venture out and root this bad boy I wanted to make sure that I know what the heck I'm doing.
So from what I'm reading I need to go to the HTC unlock site to unlock my phone and then I can begin flashing Roms correct??
I scanned the forums and wasn't able to find a straight answer on the correct steps. If anyone can point me too the latest method to root and flash Roms I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!

If is new phone on new software your screwed til devs can do their majic

First off, what you need to do is determine what software version you are running. If you are on the newest OTA, then you are at a stand still until a method to unlock/SOFF comes available.
settings > about > software information
01.15.605.04 - do this 1st (method needed to unlock through HTCDEV) ........ then unlock through htcdev (this provides a little step by step) ........ then if you want, SOFF!
02.04.605.02 - this is all you can do
**** I just got my phone and its the latest software. Looks like I'll be waiting!!!

The easiest way the root your HTC Vivid running ICS and version 3.6 sense it to use hasoon200's excellent all in one toolkit for the HTC Vivid. The toolkit will walk you through each step of the rooting procedure and tell you exactly what you need to do to successfully root your device. Let me know if you still have questions.
Thank you I found the toolkit in question and your right it worked like a charm thank you

[Q] remove htc calendar

Hello everyone... New to these forums and new to custom roms. Just got the HTC one m8 and I do not like the stock calendar. I would like a way to completely remove it. I was thinking of going with viper Rom. Is this possible without breaking other things using this Rom?

If you root and S-off, you can remove whatever you'd like. I opted to remove the calendar in favor of Google calendar
